About Butch and Lisa Miller

I'm a real estate broker and my husband, a General Contractor, built the home for our getaway close to home in 2004. As we spent less time there with busy children and lives in general we decided to offer it for rental when we aren't enjoying it ourselves. We think it's a wonderful place and often spend long weekends here. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do.

The home is very spacious with lots of amenities to keep everyone excited. The home is close to stores, restaurants, shops, and Carowinds. Don't miss out on this lovely home right in font of the lake.

Great family lake house

  • 5 of 5

We just ended our week on lake Wiley at the Millers house. We had a wonderful stay. The house is large and has the comforts of home. Beautiful lake front with deep water off the dock so easy to dock our boat. Loved watching the ski team practice just outside of the cove. Very close to stores to get groceries or whatever you may need. Would recommend this home to anyone looking for a nice get away with family and friends.

Amazing Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Rented the Miller's home for the weekend celebrating our daughter's graduation from WU....Yea! The accommodations and location on Lake Wylie were great! The weather was cool enough for us to wrap ourselves in throws and roast marsh mellows around the fire pit one evening. The guys made great use of the pool table in awesome game room and enjoyed the basketball games on tv. The day of graduation our guests came over and enjoyed themselves at the cookout. Some fished from the dock (didn't catch anything but that didn't take away from the fun LoL!), we sat on the dock and dipped our feet in the water while chatting away and there was more than enough seating outside to accommodate everyone at the cookout.

The home itself is beautiful! The Master Bedroom has the lake view which made it hard for me to get moving in the mornings, wanted to stay in bed with my coffee! Eight of us stayed and it was more than enough space for us. The kitchen is a dream kitchen well stocked with every amenity you might need. I did have to call the Miller's to have a battery replaced in a smoke alarm while there and a couple of bulbs replaced in a bathroom and they were prompt in taking care of our needs. I wish that I could post pictures or a video to show you what a great time we had!

Overall, my family and I really enjoyed our weekend here and would highly recommend it to our friends and family. We are looking at the calendar and anticipating our next stay!

Thanks Lisa and Butch for sharing your home with us!

Great location, house lacking some essentials.

  • 3 of 5

This lake house is a nice house with lots of places to sleep and plenty of room to enjoy the game room and all the seating available outside. The decking is beautifully situated leading down to the lake right in the front yard. There is such a bounty of nature on this property from deer to songbirds and owls though you cannot hear it inside the house because there are no screens for any windows which keeps mother nature and the fresh air out.

The covered porches and decking are a real plus for being outside in nature and enjoying the bounty. We were there during some rainstorms and the gutters are clogged which caused a big puddle on the front porch right outside the entrance.

Though there were sleeping arrangements for eight, there were not enough bed linens to accommodate everyone's needs. There were not really enough towels either. The blankets were in need of laundering. The kitchen drawers were not in any good order and were filled with crumbs, a lot of them, which tells me that have not been cleaned out in a long while. There were burned out light bulbs and no replacements on hand. Though there are a lot of closets, there are not an appropriate amount of hangers. The ironing board has a very stained cover and the iron needs cleaning. The second floor bedroom has old stained carpeting that needs to be replaced.

Though there are three and a half baths, the water shuts off if someone else turns water on in any other part of the house.

There were no directions for using the TV so the TV was not used.

There were some cleaning products, laundry soaps, dish soaps and cleaning supply basics but you really need to bring your own items to have what you need.

Nice house but could be set up better with the comforts of home.

Owner's Response: Kimberly, I do appreciate your feedback and will be happy to address these issues. Many of these issues could have been resolved during your stay had you brought them to our attention. You did call about the air conditioning issue and it was fixed within 15 hours. Some things are hard to control such as kitchen items are often not put back where I would put them or in the order I would but it is not possible for us to rearrange the drawers every time a guest leaves considering the complete stock of items we provide at the house. I assume you had everything you needed. Basic cleaning supplies (all purpose, window, and others) are available at the house as you mentioned but we do not keep extra bulbs or special cleaning supplies available for guests as these things tend to walk off. Same with the hangers. We do restock hangers but then sometimes guests take them when they leave. Not something I understand but it happens. A phone call requesting these things would have been welcomed. I will address the linens/drawers with my housekeeper. We strive for cleanliness and this will be corrected. We do provide linens for the beds and we do advertise the house sleeps 8 as it does. I have never had anyone ask for linens for the futon and they are not provided in the normal set up of the house. I will remove that feature from the listing so there is no other confusion about that. The smart TV's are great but I can see where they could be confusing if you are not familiar with them. Instructions booklets are with each TV but we would have gladly helped had we known you were not able to use them. Again, we always appreciate feedback and I'm glad that you found the house to be overall clean and enjoyable.

Lovely

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Peaceful Retreat. My daughter was getting married in Lancaster, SC and the family wanted a comfortable and quiet place to stay. The Peaceful Retreat delivered. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit every evening and the rooms were large and beds were comfortable. The house is bigger and nicer than we expected.
