I stayed at John's home with my husband and 2 young children (2.5 yr and 10 mo) and we all had a fantastic vacation! The house was beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. It had everything we needed, including a pack n play and highchair. We spent days fishing on the dock (lake is so close that our baby monitor worked on the dock so we could fish while the kids napped) and playing on the deck and evenings making s'mores by the fire. Location was on a quiet cove, VERY quiet on weekdays! But, just a short drive from the causeway. John was a pleasure to work with, answering my many questions thoroughly and promptly. I highly recommend staying here if your goal is simply to relax. Thanks for everything John! We will remember our week at your home for years to come!
This house is fantastic. Very neat and clean. Kitchen/dining room is beautiful (as well as the rest of the house) beautifully decorated. The kids had a great time jumping off the dock, paddle boating and using the row boat. We had our own boat as well. The house is in a quiet cove which is great if you want to relax on the hammock and not listen to boats racing by. We saw a Bald Eagle right across the water on several occasions. The house has everything you need. Floats, paddle/row boats, life jackets, BBQ, movies, Play station and a giant 60 (?) inch HD TV. We spent many nights by the fire pit. Can't say enough about this house. John was a great guy to deal with. Only a 5 minute drive to downtown. Shopping, ice cream, restaurants. Bray's Pub was great.
Thank you for a great vacation. Looking forward to renting it again next year.
I was lucky enough to be a guest of my brother and his wife for four fabulous, fast fall days. The weather was spectacular but accomadations were even more perfect. THis home is so comfortable and the property is so peaceful that I hope to go back next year. John you have a beautiful place that is relaxing and wonderful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this house. John was very prompt and communicative throughout the booking process. The house was very well-supplied with the essentials and beautifully decorated with many antiques. We are a big family of cooks and being able to cook in a nicely-equipped kitchen and seat for eight in the dining area was great.
It was a pleasure to wake up every day looking out at Sebago Cove and take our kayaks or canoe out for a paddle, or use the row boat or paddle boat provided with the house. There is a milfoil problem in the cove which makes some sections pretty weedy but it looks like the local homeowners associations are addressing the problem to try to keep it in check.
The kids were kept occupied for hours fishing off the dock for bluegills, pickerel, and bullheads. After a week of watching them haul in these small fry, we had a great surprise on our last day when one of my sisters landed a 5 pound largemouth bass, so there are some lunkers lurking out there.
The main lake is about a 30 minute paddle away - a great day trip is to paddle to Sebago Lake State Park, which has a beautiful beach, bath house, snack bar, etc.
Downtown Naples is about 2-3 miles away if you need to shop or want to go for a meal or ice cream or stroll around. We particularly liked Bray's Brewpub for beers and live music (two of us sat in at the Sunday blues jam).
There are also some nice, fairly easy local hikes, like Douglas Mountain, which offers a great view of the lake after only a 30-40 minute climb.
All in all, we found this property just what we needed for a fine Maine lake vacation!
We found the accommodations were very comfortable and spacious. The view of the river from the deck and back yard were amazing.I was even able to get a picture of an American Bald eagle sitting in the pine across the river. If you are looking for a place to just get away or curl up with a nice book look no further. The interior with its country twist is a nice compliment to the Landscape. We had no problems and found John to be easy to communicate with. Hopefully the family can book again for next season:)
First off I would like to say that John and Michelle were a pleasure to deal with.
The house was absolutely perfect! It had all the comforts of home with modern kitchen ameneties. The house is far enough away from any traffic yet close enough to local stores, restaurants, and shops. The house was very clean and having laundry facilities on site was an absolute bonus not to mention having two bathrooms with two showers!
Plenty of sleeping room and a great family dining table........The fire pit in the back yard over looking the lake is absolutely was great for family nights by the fire. The dock was perfect for sitting quietly and reading a book or fishing. there was also a row boat and paddle boat (life jackets provided in garage)
All in all it was a really great house and I plan on going back next year.
