Located near Saugatuck-Douglas in Glenn, the Clubhouse is situated on a quiet country road along the shores of Lake Michigan. A perfect cottage for families to enjoy the sounds of nature, and a slower pace. A short walk down the road brings you to a grassy slope, bringing you to the beach, where you can take a nap, a swim or work on that novel you've been trying to write. The children will enjoy hunting for critters in the creek, or minnows in the big lake.
Holland is only 20 minutes to the north, where you can enjoy movies, farmers markets, shopping, and museums and all things Dutch. Saugatuck is long noted for its artistic community, and the galleries are enticing with cutting edge artwork from the local artists. To the south, a 15 minute drive brings you to South Haven, with a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and boating opportunities. Don't miss the beautiful South Haven Pier and the Blueberry festival! Further to the east is Casco township, home of many fine family farms and wineries. In fact, you can go on a winery tour of many of the local wineries. Fresh fruits and vegetables are available at local farm stands, and local cheeses as well. Or go to Fennville, just a short 20 minute drive, to the incomparable Crane's Orchard for sandwiches and pie, or Salt of the Earth, a quality restuarant that specializes in local produce, grass fed beef, and yummy breads and baked goods and coffee. Southwest Michigan is paradise!
I came every summer to this lovely lane, to my great-grandmother's cottage. I fell in love with the lake, the peace and quiet, the slower pace.
Patricia Kerr purchased this cottage in 1999
My folks bought this cute cottage before it had been fixed up, with plans for renovation, because we always liked the shape of the building, and the interesting glass blocks at the corners.
Mix of old and new, the Clubhouse has all the amenities of a modern home, but still has that 'cottagey' charm from days gone by.
We appreciated the privacy of the place, and the wrap around deck was great for our toddler. It would have been better if the owner had been at the cottage when we arrived, but everything was ready for our arrival.

I could not have loved it more!! To me, this cottage was right out of the fairytale books, you know the kind that you find perfectly nestled in the woods?!! It began as soon as we drove up to this adorable cottage! The house is situated on a very quiet, wooded road overlooking Lake Michigan! When we walked in, it did not feel as if we were walking into a "rental" but an inviting home. The living room, dining room and kitchen were all open to each other and it felt so comfortable to hang out there in the evenings. The upstair's bedrooms are truly out of a fairytale! The original wood floors, all the natural light coming in from all different sized windows, from low windows you could gaze out from your own bed, to windows you open with a latch, topping off with cottage furnishings and decor, I felt like goldilocks :) The beach was AMAZING with VERY few people! We practically had it to ourselves! We also enjoyed our visits to the local general store just down the road. Our family LOVED the cottage and the location!! We WILL be back!!
The home is just like the pictures and the description. We had a great relaxing and peaceful week.
The people at the little grocery store down about a mile from the home were very friendly, you could find everything you needed in this little neighborhood store. Pat keeps this home in great condition. It is a short walk to the beach and very quite. The beach is beautiful it is a wonderful backdrop to the area. There was one day that our family had the whole lake to ourselves. I would recommend this home to a family or a nice friend get away.
We stayed in this cottage for three weeks in the summer of 2009 and had a restful, lovely stay. We continued our stay at the other cottage on the property, owned by the same person, for a second three weeks (The White House) - also highly recommended and a bit bigger if you are a larger party. The owner did everything to help us make our stay exactly what we wanted: from lending us bikes to use to get around, to making sure everything in the cottage worked well, to giving us advice on what to do and where to go. The master bedroom upstairs has a long window in the corner with views of lake Michigan to enjoy from bed. The long deck around three sides of the house was perfect for eating outdoors under an umbrella, bird watching and enjoying the bunnies that came to visit each morning, as well as the almost-nightly lovely sunsets over Lake Michigan across the road. On a quiet, dead-end dirt road within an easy walk to a very quiet beach, it was exactly what we were looking for. The beach changed daily with the wind and weather: sometimes the water was like a mirror, sometimes it had little waves. Swimming was great and a small river emptying into lake Michigan on the beach provided a fun place for our young son to splash and play. Buying delicious fresh fruit from a variety of local, small farms - all within biking distance - became part of our daily ritual. Short drives to the pretty towns of Douglas and Saugatuck were also part of the fun. With high-speed internet and many TV channels, we were also not out of touch with daily life (unless we wanted to be).
Glenn is famous for being the 'Pancake Town' , after a blizzard stopped several travellers, and the town took people in and fed them pancakes when they had run out of everything else! Now it's well know for its beautiful sunsets, lovely farms, berry-picking adventures, biking trails, antique and gift shops, local vineyards, and proximity to the marinas in Saugatuck and South Haven. A little bit off the beaten path, Glenn is a perfect place to slow down and smell the roses.
Other Activities: boating, hot air ballooning, shopping, wildlife viewing, kayaking, basketball court, mini golf
Golf: There are 3 golf courses witn a 15 minute drive. Hawkshead is even closer, and has a beautiful resturant as well. South Haven has a public course, and also there's one in Saugatuck, just a short 15 minute drive.
