Wolfeboro has that Norman Rockwell ambiance. a quintessential small town with the activities, amenities and ambiance that you would hope for. It has a great schedule of free events, (concerts, craft shows, carnivals, sidewalk days, fishing derbies, fairs, book signings, antique boat shows and races, canoeing, kayaking and sailing races, etc.). There is also a brand new hospital, diverse shopping and conveniences to service your needs.

First opened in 1938, a time when automobile vacations were still new, exciting and just a little bit dangerous. Weary city dwellers could escape hot urban summers and call a little piece of the country the Oldest Summer Resort in America. Couples and families played horseshoes and tossed balls under tall trees, enjoyed lake pleasures, entertainments and shopping in the village, and returned to their cottages for socializing and well-earned sleep at night. Since buying the property in 2008, we have worked hard to retain each cabin’s nostalgic ambiance while ensuring your comfort. Cottages are freshly decorated, and electricity, plumbing and all systems have been updated while preserving period character.

Boaters Paradise: Boating: For our Boaters... NH requires all drivers of boats and water vehicles to have a license. Multiple Marinas are just a short distance away for boat rentals or service. Free Public Boat Launches are just 5 minutes away to get on Crecent Lake, Wentworth, or Winnipesaukee) Recreational trips abound with many private calm water coves or boat to an evening dinner engagement on the lake. 36 miles in Length and over 100 miles of shoreline, 365 Islands, depths to 350 feet and fishing derbys year-round. Sailing adventurists love the winds of the broads and regattas throughout the summer.

Spectacular Golfing: Golf: Lake Winnipesaukee Golf Club, LLC New Durham NH 03855 is an Exclusive private golf club named one of the top ten new private courses in America by Golf Digest. Full service clubhouse, golf shop and practice facilities. Limited memberships and outings available. Kingswood Golf Club, Inc. About David De Jager, Owner

We are blessed with 4 amazing young inquisitive children and the privilege of living in this GORGEOUS area with so many natural and healthy activities and surroundings. 40 years of local experience give us the insight for nuances not normally offered to visiting guests.

David De Jager, Owner purchased this cottage in 2008

Why David De Jager, Owner chose Lake Winnipesaukee Area

This is one of the last surviving Cottage Clusters in the area. We have just added the Main House to the availability which can host up to 12 people. This used to be the predominant method of travel for thousands of weary city dwellers escaping the heat, noise and smoke of the summer to arrive by train, carriage and boat to these shores. Most other colonies have been dismantled or sold for condominiums, but we endeavor to preserve this pure and healthy traditional form of family vacations dating back to the 1920's when travel was just a little bit edgy and vacation was in it's advent. Come experience a nostalgic piece of history and see if you don't agree with so many others who feel they have re-discovered something forgotten deep inside them.

What makes this cottage unique

Having lived here over 40 years, I can help you plan Hiking, Biking, Water Skiing, Scuba, Sailing, Windsurfing, Skin Diving, Hiking, Caving, Free Concerts in the Park, Summerstock Theater, Town Hall Clock Tower Chimes, Church Bells, Craft and Country Fairs, Free Parks and Fields, Playgrounds, Tennis Courts, Golfing, Sipping a beer on the waterfront, Old Fashion Ice Cream Vendors, Walks along antique Waterways, Waterfalls by the old millway, Idle chat with the locals, Breakfast in the Wolfeboro Diner, Antique Boat Shows, Village Shops… SO much more depending on what you can pack in… Please have a look at our reviews which have shown these sentiments.

Great 60th Anniversary weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We had a super weekend @ the cottages celebrating Mom & Dad's 60th Wedding Anniversary! The main house held all the kids, grands & great-grands, while Cottage 10 housed the "honeymooners". The property is accurately pictured on their website. Everything is immaculately clean and well equipped. Beautifully located within walking distance to town. We enjoyed a couple trips to nearby Albee Beach on Lake Wentworth. Some of our party loved their ride on the Mount Washington across Lake Winnepesaukee. We had a celebratory (and delicious) lobster feed at the Wolfetrap Grill's outdoor pavilion. A scrumptious cake for the occasion was procured at LaBoca Bakery (and we wished we had stopped by there earlier in the weekend...the breads looked great!) Molly the Trolley provided the whole group transport from the cottages to the Wolfetrap along with a tour of Wolfeboro (fun!)

Jody, the onsite hostess with the mostest, was a welcoming and informative resource throughout the weekend. She answered any questions and offered helpful tips about the area without being too intrusive.

The firepits are well stocked with firewood (yay, s'mores!) Oh, and my granddaughter agrees, they have DO have the best tire swing in all of NH!

I would highly recommend the Cottages of Wolfeboro and wouldn't hesitate to return! (and our parents haven't stopped thanking us yet!!)

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for you kind review. It was a fabulous event and your experience is precisely what we were hoping for... It is so encouraging to see families and couples take advantage of all that the setting has to offer. I will pass along your praises to Jodi and my staff who really deserve credit. As family and friend groups discover us, we see them year after year although the players sometimes change out because we can host 54 overall and it depends on who gets their reservation in first. It's a wonderful dynamic to see people getting to know each other in this unique setting... when the entire location is rented out, people can be together and still maintain their individual households. They create an intimate "neighborhood" while visiting each other’s "homes", taking walks to various activities around town, to the waterfalls, the lakes, beaches or events, shops, restaurants and pubs around town and on the Harbor front. Sitting in one of our bench swings, lounging in hammocks or gathering in the Adirondacks by an evening fire are great community and relationship builders. I hope we can have you back, so please get to me early if you would like to book for the fall or next year... Sincerely, Dave and Wendy

Wolfboro Cottages is a fun stay

  • 5 of 5

It truly is a cottage! A refreshing alternative to the hotel stays in the area. It's like walking into a well furnished and stocked beach rental. Decorated well in what I think of a colorful Swedish style decor. The owners are friendly and good people, always willing to help in any way that they can without being obtrusive. Beds are very comfortable and the space is really clean and the kitchen allows you to make coffee which they stock (bless you Dave!) and allow you to open your own bottles of wine you purchase or cook dinner if you wanted. We never do because it's a quick walk to town or fast drive to many attractions from this central location. If visiting Brewster Academy, you could walk to school from here. Lots of room for kids to sleep in or other guests if you go for the bigger cottages. This was our second stint at the cottages and we will be sure to return here again and again!

Quiet and relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

My first impression was - oh my, this is small! But then when we saw how clean and comfortable everything is, we figured small is ok. I have to say this is the first time we have been satisfied with the cleanliness of a rental cabin or condo, and we've stayed at a lot! The bed was amazingly comfortable, and the bedding was soft and cozy! The bikes and kayaks available for people staying there was a really nice touch - we used both. I really liked the town - everything is walkable - restaurants, sights, grocery stores, even the laundromat. The manager and cleaning people were very helpful and friendly. Couldn't have asked for more!
