20 yards from the ocean, Mampoo Hill is a special island beach house. Read a book 10 feet from the lapping sea in a double hammock between two palm trees. Or snorkel in privacy in the "back yard" ocean. And watch dramatic sunsets from the luxurious spa or lounge chairs on the upper deck as the end of daylight glistens off the trees and Caribbean ocean. (Note: We only accept DIRECT bookings)
Mampoo Hill was designed to take advantage of its fabulous, close up ocean views--from every room. This open air island home has a huge air conditioned master bedroom with a double dressing area, king size bed, queen size futon couch, library, ceiling fans, VCR/DVD and internet connection while the guest bedroom has twin beds (that can be made up as a king), a ceiling fan, AC, remote controlled cable TV and a full bathroom. Both have spectacular beach front views. Enjoy a beautifully renovated kitchen, a gas grill for outdoor cooking and al fresco dining.
My husband, Bill, and I (Candace) live in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a beach front property, 20 yards from the ocean on St. John, which is like a private island. What's not to like?
Fabulous, private snorkeling in your own back yard; a double hammock within 10 feet of the ocean between two palm trees; 1 acre of property; all the modern conveniences yet a newly renovated "island" home which takes advantage of its views and tradewinds.
Husband, son & daughter-in-law and myself stayed a week. The house was more than I expected. The open-air floor plan was great and the fans kept us cool enough. Although sleeping on the comfy beds in the a/c bedrooms was great! From having good tips from Jennifer to Craig meeting us at the dock to the time we left, everything was great. Had fun watching the birds enjoy the sugar and seeing the iguana family. We saw 3 of them! Appreciated the nice touch of the cheese & crackers in the refrigerator for us to enjoy the first night. Loved listening to the surf sounds all the time. Very relaxing Would highly recommend Mampoo Hill when traveling to St. John. Rent the jeep that is available. You will need it to get around to the various beaches. Thanks so much for sharing Mampoo Hill with us.
We soooo...loved our Mampoo Hill vacation! It exceeded our expectations all around! What a lovely beach home which was perfect for us! Your staff is great, too! And thanks again for opening your home to us!"
We can't say enough! Mampoo Hill is magical! My wife, nine year old daughter, and myself spent a fantastic week her. The owners make the process easy and the on island managers are great! We are planning our return now.
Mampoo Hill is incredible. The house is excellent. The beach is great. We cannot wait to return. We have one complaint only -- we had to get used to the noise of the crashing waves every night (but we survived). Rent the jeep.
This was my second trip to Mampoo Hill and it was again a fabulous getaway. From the moment I entered the private drive to the acre property, I knew I stepped into paradise! It is secluded and peaceful with views of the ocean from every room. You can even see the ocean while lying in bed from each of the bedrooms - my fantasy! The house is laid out to create privacy and common meeting areas with an ample deck including a hot tub. The kitchen is well appointed so if you chose to eat in rather than dine out, there is no problem. The property is a short drive from many wonderful restaurants and excellent snorkeling (or lounging) beaches. I highly recommend taking advantage of the rental jeep that the owners make available - you will not be disappointed as the rates are lower than the car rental agencies on island and the convenience is great! I highly recommend this as a getaway whether you are looking for just relaxing or want to explore and use this as your nightly home or better yet, some of both!
We stayed in this amazing home for one week in October. The view and sounds of nature are enveloping and tranquil. The open air home is comfortable and beautiful. The beds are incredibly cozy and comfortable.
Several mornings we would walk the very short distance to the beach and adore the pristine ocean. So private and delightful. We cannot wait to return.
