Perfect location! Beautiful cottage!
Just returned home from our amazing vacation on Martha’s Vineyard. The cottage is beautiful and modern and is in perfect walking distance to Edgartown.
We look forward to going back next year and will definitely stay there again!
Lovely Cottage and close to Edgartown
The cottage is exactly as shown in the pictures. It is fairly new, well constructed, clean and charming. The outdoor shower is great. All amenities are as described except we found the small kitchenette only works if most food is cold or brought in from outside. The location is superb as it is a relatively short walk into Edgartown and near a conservation area that offers a delightful stroll through a property managed by the Sheriiff's Meadow Foundation. As mentioned, the cottage is on the property of a lovely private home. We second the review by Dana S in which she talks about the odd parking situation and the wet, ankle-deep grass through which one must walk each day to get to/from the cottage. The owners have an absolute gem that could be enhanced through some modest improvements.
We are so pleased you had a wonderful stay at our cottage. We appreciate your comments and we are curting the grass will be shorter following your review. With the hot summer here, it was more advantageous to keep the beautiful lawn green by setting the lawn mower to a higher setting. This was an unusually hot summer here and everywhere. Thanks for your review.
Beautiful, comfortable property...but...
The cottage itself is absolutely adorable. The location is great and the bed is comfortable. Lynne and Rachel are kind and efficient.
However, the parking situation is interesting. You must park outside the property fence in the sand/dirt area under some trees. The shade is nice, the dirt/sand in your car...not so much.
The parking space is nearly a football field away from the cottage itself. There is a gravel drive and a lovely brick path to and around the main house garden to the side of the property. Then you must walk through ankle deep grass for approximately 20 yards to get to the cottage. This, too, would be fine except for the rain and irrigation which make grass clippings stick to your very wet shoes every time you come and go.
Our first morning we were awakened by voices on the porch. The owner and a gardener were discussing the sprinkler issues. The gardener spent the next hour or so on the porch. Which would be ok, maintenance must happen, except there are no curtains. There are half shutters on the living area windows but you can see into the cottage from every window, including the porch. It was a slightly uncomfortable situation.
There are room-darkening roman shades in the bedroom which are very nice. There is a washer-dryer in the bathroom. The kitchen has everything you need for quick meal prep, including a small fridge, microwave, hot plate, dishes and silverware and there is a nice grill out back. The landscaping and garden foliage is beautiful.
The only thing I would suggest is making a path to the cottage itself. Sweeping grass out of the cottage each day and worrying about drying our shoes were our only real issues.
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our Vineyard cottage in June and that you found the location excellent, the beds and amenities comfortable, and that we were kind and efficient. We are sorry to hear that you found the walk across the lawn from the parking space to be inconvenient. You suggested we put in an impervious walkway to avoid getting any grass clippings on your shoes. We all try to maintain the natural beauty here on the Vineyard and, unlike the city or the suburbs where you may live, we take pride in keeping the landscape as natural and beautiful as possible. June was a rainy month and we have no control over that, but we do our best to accommodate the needs of our guests which is why the sprinkler contractor was there one morning adjusting the sprinkler heads so as to cut back and adjust the lawn watering. I am pleased that, overall, you appreciated the house and the gardens and had a great vacation here.
Lovely, quiet and comfortable!
We enjoyed a delightful week on Martha's Vineyard based at this adorable cottage. It was very clean, quiet, and well maintained. The bed is comfortable. We enjoyed the seeing the lovely garden each day. The owners were available by text if we had a question.
The description of amenities is accurate.
Great location and property
An easy walk to Edgartown shops & restaurants and a very clean, lovely cottage that looks exactly as the photos show. You are getting a great vacation out of this rental - highly recommend.
Fantastic Stay, Wonderful Accomodations
I can't say enough about the wonderful accommodations the cottage affords. The space has a great layout, its very functional and has all the amenities that one could want/need. Additionally, the location can't be beat.
Our Hosts were very responsive and helpful during the run up to our visit and facilitated a great experience while on island.
