Includes fully equipped commercial style kitchen for the chef at heart. Master bedroom loft includes a queen size bed, along with a separate twin log bed and HD Satellite TV. Downstairs comes equipped with a washer and dryer, full size bed with twin bunk over top. Living room offers a cathedral ceiling, Direct TV and sunroom/dining area.

Outdoors includes hot tub, charcoal grill, fire pit and wrap around deck.

Many native songbirds and wildlife to observe. Thousands of acres of Huron National Forest and State Forest hiking trails, only 15 minutes drive to the mighty AuSable river for fishing and canoeing and 5 minutes to Smith lake.

You must be at least 25 yrs old to rent the cabin.

Sorry, although we love pets, they just don't mix with the upkeep of the cabin. A very nice kennel is in the area.

You will also need a fourwheel drive to get in and out of the lodge in the winter months.

About The Owner

John and I traveled North for years from the Flint area to vacation in the family cabin near the banks of the AuSable river in the little lumbering town of McKinley. While taking a Sunday drive we stumbled on a deserted farm with 80 acres, it was pretty run down at the time but we loved it and just like that we made an offer, went home and sold our home in Flint and moved the family "up-north" to enjoy the good life! We named our hobby farm Jocacherra which represents the first two letters of the family's name. After raising our three children in the area we now are the proud grandparents of eleven grandchildren...how time flies!"

Years later, we sold the family farm and purchased this 40 acres of land deep in the wood, John built the cabin out on a beautiful ridge and renamed it the Jocacherra Lodge, and a few years later he built our permanent home just down the trail. That's when we decided to open our cabin to guests and let others enjoy the same experiences of vacationing up north.

Although sadly, none of our 3 children live in the area now, they all enjoy coming home to spend time with us. "We love it up here and think you will too!"

Why The Owner chose Northern Michigan

Seclusion, the sounds of nature, time to think, unwind, kick back and relax! Enjoy a leisurely walk in the woods, take a drive to the Beautiful Ausable river for a float trip or cast your line in the water for some fly fishing excitement. Evenings can be spent soaking in the hot tub, sharing a glass of wine, while viewing the stars and the sounds of the forest. Enjoy morning coffee on the deck and if your lucky you might hear the call of the Loons from nearby Perry Lake. Antiques decorate the cabin and send you back to a time gone by. Everyone loves this place!

OUR FAVORITE PLACE! THE BEST CABIN EVER!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cabin for our honeymoon. My hubby surprised me, and it couldn't have been more perfect! The location is very secluded, and absolutely GORGEOUS!! The Fall colors are breathtaking, and it is so peaceful to be surrounded by woods. We loved having the dishwasher, grill, hot tub, dvd player, and even wifi right at our fingertips! There is even a washer and dryer, and everything you need to cook with! This cabin is fully equipped with every comfort you could ask for! We loved our time there! The owners are incredibly friendly and kind! =) We would love to come back someday!!

Great cabin

  • 5 of 5

we have stayed at the owners various cabins several times, but this was our first time renting the jocacherra. This is now our favorite and we are already looking forward to the next time. The cabin is beautifully decorated in an up north theme and very clean. It is a perfect cabin for a romantic get away or family vacation. The seclusion and privacy made it easy to relax and recharge. The hot tub located on the back deck is wonderful and the view picture perfect. We also were able to go snow shoeing around thier property, they even have extra ones there if you dont have your own. John and Cassy take great care of their rental properties and make it an easy rental process. Thank you for another great get away!

Our family really enjoyed our stay during the winter at this lodge. The setting is wonderful you feel like you are the only ones in the middle of a forest. I loved sitting in the dining area (which was surrounded by windows) to view the freshly fallen snow on the forest in the morning. The birds and squirrels were delightful to watch. When the bear (Teddy) approached we were surprised and relieved to find out he was of the canine species. The hot tub was one of our favorites and we would roll into the snow on the desk to cool down and then pludge into the hot tub to warm back up. The kitchen was wonderfully appointed. The owners were very friendly and responsive to a hot tub issue that we had. The property was very clean and inviting; highly recommend to others who especially love nature and natural surroundings.

Sublime....

  • 5 of 5

My husband and two teenage boys just returned from spending a week at this property. Breakfast was spent peering into beautiful woods while chipmunks scampered. Lunch with numerous birds (and to have two city teenagers watching is a sight to behold...). During out late evening hot tubs, we literally patted flying squirrels before they soared off the deck. The accommodations were spotless, extremely comfortable bedding (gorgeous quilts), top notch appliances. Wonderful touches like soft towels, outdoor shower and terry cloth robes!! We golfed at various resorts every day - all within 1 hr - we rode horses, canoed the river, hiked to the lake....watched deer scamper. Five out of five....I am still relaxed!
