Mt Baker Ski Area is only two hours from Vancouver or Seattle, and it’s a great alternative to Whistler, with loads of snow, challenging terrain, cheaper lift tickets ($52/adult) and a relaxed spirit.

Don't you hate when you're on holiday and have to check out Sunday by 11:00 AM? We offer a 6:00 pm check-out for weekend stays at no additional cost. Enjoy an extra day in the mountains!

About our chalet …

This is one of the nicest cabins available for rent at Mt Baker – wood floors, leather sofa, modern furniture, new linens, and a spacious kitchen with stainless appliances.

We now offer wifi and free long distance phone calls within the USA. (Sorry, still no cell service.)

Our house is KID FRIENDLY and has a separate basement playroom and living/dining room so you and your kids aren't right on top of each other. There is sleeping for 7-10 comfortably.

Our Chalet is only three years old and has:

- New hot tub on our private back patio

- Ping pong, air hockey, and foosball tables

- Two large decks with patio furniture and outdoor dining

- New Weber Q barbecue

- Calphalon cookware and stainless steel appliances

- 2 iPod compatible stereos – easy to bring your own music!

- TV with a DVD player, VCR & movies on site (but no cable/satellite)

- Xbox with Kinect and video games

- Toys for kids to play with

- Large kitchen with dishwasher

- New 600 thread count sheets, pillows & comforters on most beds

- Propane stove fireplace

- Washer & dryer

- 3 full bathrooms

- Over 1800 sf

On the bottom floor, we have a large garage rec room with air hockey and ping pong and space to stash your wet gear; a large indoor rec room with foosball, the TV area, and one queen futon and one double futon; and a bathroom.

On the second floor, we have a living room, eating area, and large kitchen, along with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed, and the second bedroom has 3 twin-sized beds, including a bunkbed.

The third floor loft bedroom has a king-sized bed.

We do offer a special rate for 4-night weekend stays and 3-plus-night midweek stays. We are not able to load these into the VRBO system, but just ask! Also, we only have a 2-night minimum for midweek stays during ski season, but we can't load that into the system either. Just ask!

We accept credit cards via PayPal.

Please note: Rates during Christmas and New Year's holidays are $300/night, 3-night minimum.

About Kathryn Sorrells

We are a family that lives in Vancouver, B.C. We've been skiing Mt Baker for 12 years, and love this area!

Kathryn Sorrells purchased this chalet in 2007

What makes this chalet unique

We enjoy the cabin ourselves often, so we try to have a well-stocked kitchen (which we use ourselves often) and lots of fun things for our/your kids to do. Another thing that sets us apart is our 6:00 pm check-out on the weekends!

Great chalet, great location

  • 5 of 5

The property had everything we needed, including a nice relaxing hot tub that let us unwind after long days of hiking. Loved the area, just wish we had stayed longer to explore.

Gorgeous mountain retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We recently spent the weekend in this fabulous chalet with our two young children...and we loved it! The owners had anticipated all of our needs, right down to toys and books for our little ones. The cabin was spotless, and fully stocked with linens. It was also great to have so many kitchen essentials available (spices, olive oil, etc.). The location can't be beat as far as access to the mountain, as well as proximity to a general store and restaurants. There was more than enough room for us, and I can see how great the space would be for larger gatherings. To top it all off, we were enchanted by the visiting deer right outside the living room window. This vacation chalet is a gem! We can't wait to go back!

Great location for a family ski weekend

  • 4 of 5

This is the second year we've gathered at the Mt Baker ski chalet for a reunion of friends and kids. The set up is great- futons and games downstairs for the kids, bedrooms and a spacious living room upstairs for everyone to hang out. The hot tub is a bonus for after skiing. You can't beat the convenience of staying in Glacier for long fun ski days.

Not worth the money. Better options in Snowline/Baker Rim.

  • 3 of 5

I coordinate ski trips every year for my group of friends and this is the most disappointing house we’ve ever had for the price. It’s really spacious, but hasn’t been taken care of very well. It advertises a foosball table (broken) and a ping pong table (in the cold garage). A hot tub (scummy), the walls were stained and the sofa was totally worn, and one of the toilets didn’t work. We only got one towel per person for three nights four days to use for hot tub and showers.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO INTERNET, which was not advertised. I only saw this in a review after I had booked. We had friends coming in from all over and had multiple houses rented in the area, and it was impossible to communicate with anyone for meetups. I had asked if it was an easy walk from Chair 9, which was the location of the wedding reception and was told yes, but it was actually over two miles, which isn’t realistic in the heavy rain and snow.

Overall, first world problems.

Owner's Response: We were crushed to read this review - and to know that these guests had not had a wonderful experience at our place. We do work very hard to take care of our cabin, and we are responsive to guests' suggestions and ideas. We went to the cabin on March 24 to look into the problems mentioned. First, we are getting wifi! We last looked into getting wifi a few years ago and were told it would require chopping down trees in our neighbour's yard - which we really couldn't do. This review prompted us to explore more deeply and we found another way. To our guests who have valued being unplugged - we are sorry! You can pretend that we still don't have wifi! Second, our plumbing is in good working order. There was one toilet that was running - which affects our water bill more than anything else. That toilet has been fixed. Third, the foosball table was missing one player. We had already ordered a new foosball table when these guests were staying, but it had not yet arrived. It is at the cabin now, ready for fun! Fourth, our cleaner checks and treats the hot tub after every guest. I myself went into it to check it and found the water to be clean and clear. We changed it anyway, just to make sure. We looked for stains on the walls but instead found scuffs. With large groups bringing luggage and snow equipment in and out weekly, we do get some scuffs on the walls. We try to take care of them with Magic Erasers and annual spot painting. We really do care about our cabin and our guests' experience. We believe we have one of the best-cared-for, well-set-up cabins in Mt Baker Rim.
