We have stayed at numerous cabins all over North Carolina and this was, by far, the most peaceful. It was nestled on the side of the mountain with literally no other cabins in sight and hardly any within earshot. The cabin is extraordinarily clean and well decorated. It looks better than the pictures. Folks who have stayed here in the past have mentioned that the cabin is very thoughtfully stocked with just about everything you may need in case you forgot something. They were right. We enjoyed morning coffee on the porch while spending some time reading. I enjoyed a daily jog down the mountain and back up (practically crawling). We ate just about every meal on the porch, since the weather was near perfect. We went hiking as a family around Tullulah State Park (1 hr away), which was very scenic, but also very commercialized. We also hiked High Shaols Falls (45 min away), which we recommend. There was more than enough room for our family of 8. We are looking forward to staying here again soon.
Just returned from wonderful family getaway! This cabin is perfect for large family. There were 10 of us, and we all fit perfectly. Love two living areas, one up, and one down. Also, loved the wrap around porch. Hot tub was great! We were surprised at the well stocked pantry, and the large variety of cooking pans, dishes, etc. the only reason I did not give 5 stars is the drive up to cabin and down. Don't think I could ever do this in the dark. Really love this place. Hoping to make this a yearly getaway.
We sincerely enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The pictures do not do this one justice, it's much bigger than I thought it would be and we could easily have had two families stay here comfortably. Every room is tastefully decorated. The outdoor, covered living areas were a nice place to start day with a morning cup of coffee and the hot tub is the perfect place to relax sore muscles after a long day of hiking. Our kids loved the family room downstairs and the covered deck downstairs is large enough to play corn hole during a rainy afternoon.
We've rented a lot through VRBO, and of all the rental places we stayed this one the owners seemed to think of everything. There were lots of little extra touches that made our stay even better. Definitely one of the most well appointed kitchens of all the rental places we stayed.
There were only two reasons that I gave this place a 4 instead of a 5. First the title of this property has "GREAT Mountain Views" and while, judging by the drive up, you are near the top of a mountain, there isn't much of a view because you're nestled in the trees. Granted our visit was during the summer and the trees had all of their leaves so the view is likely much better during other seasons. While this was a little disappointing, the trees definitely made it feel very private and secluded which was also nice. The second reason was the beds. If you like a really hard, firm bed this place is for you. Both my husband and I woke up sore from the hard beds. I tried the bed in the second master and it was the same. There was what looked to be a foam mattress topper (thought I didn't get it down) in the top of the bedroom closet, but unfortunately for us, I didn't notice it until we were getting ready to leave so we didn't get the chance to put it on. The bed didn't seem to sag but it was really hard.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying here. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us!
We took our kids and really enjoyed the property!! Well appointed, well stocked, and the perfect get away to both rent a boat at Chatuge Lake and then come back to enjoy the solitude of the mountains, hot tub, wilderness sounds, cooking in the kitchen overlooking the easy to use fireplace. You won't go wrong with this rental any time of the year, we look forward to a return trip!!
Home was very comfortable We will definitely consider when ready to travel back to this area!! Owners were very nice to work with.
My family of 5 loved this house. It had everything you would need and more. We liked the fact that it's secluded and very peaceful yet close to town (grocery store and restaurants). We were within an hours drive to anything we wanted to do (mountain biking, hiking and white water rafting). Also the owner was very responsive to any questions I had. I would definitely recommend this house.
