The description is accurate but does not do justice to the overall appeal of this property.
A very warm welcome by Andrew and Karene who are very knowledgeable about the island greeted us for our weeks stay.
Everything is provided for a comfortable and easy time. The apartment is very clean and well located for visiting the area. We had a car so trips to the local town and beaches were easy but both are about 15/20 minutes walk away.
Speightstown has a good supermarket and other shops as well as places to eat.
The pub on the waters edge is good for food and draught Banks beer. We visited Holetown most evenings which has a wide selection of restaurants which is about 20 minutes drive away.
The beaches on the island are fabulous. The east coast is worth visiting. We liked Bottom Bay but found many interesting and varied coves and beaches.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. A number of times we were lost and cars stopped to help when we were exploring.
I would recommend this property to those wanting a relaxing hassle free holiday.
Andrew provides a great rum punch in the fridge on arrival - it cannot be bettered!
This property is exactly as described. Everything you would want from a holiday let is provided from beach towels to champagne glasses and is spotlessly clean. A welcome pack of essentials (including beer!) is waiting for you which is invaluable after a long flight. If you do have a problem the owners, Andrew and Karene, are wonderfully accommodating. The bedrooms are big with plenty of wardrobe space and quiet air conditioning. The accommodation is large enough for four adults to live without falling over each other. Speightstown is great, more locals than tourists, with plenty of restaurants and bars at prices to suit all pockets and is only a short walk away. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the balcony is a bit small and it would be nice to have a separate toilet from the bathroom. Having said that we have booked to return next year! Andrew & Karene can't wait to see you again...
This apartment is exactly as shown in the photos...lovely airy rooms with great air conditioning, scrupulously clean with lots of bath towels etc provided! It's in an ideal location with shopping, restaurants and beaches nearby! I would strongly recommend this property and look forward to returning in the near future!
The appt was extremely well presented with everything we would need for our stay in Barbados...even a few items in the fridge! The rooms were very comfortable, with the worlds biggest bed and great air conditioning. For us, the location was perfect...a very short walk from the beacj and the charming Speightstown area. Our hosts, Karene and Andrew were lovely and couldn't have done more to make our stay welcome...thank you. This deserves every bit of a 5* rating!
This apartment is spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. The house is in a nice neighbourhood, within walking distance of Speightstown and Heywoods beach. We really enjoyed having our meals out on the balcony with a view of the ocean to the west, and listening to the tree frogs in the evening.
The owners extended a warm Bajan welcome to us, and were very helpful .
We would recommend this apartment to our friends and colleagues.
We enjoyed our dinners at the Waverider restaurant in town, snorkeling at Folkestone Park, and our visit to the beautiful east coast.
My husband and I were really pleased with the Andkar Vacation Apartment in Heywoods. This beautiful apartment was spacious and very comfortable with all the amenities of home! We felt safe and secure.
We stayed 1 month. Andrew and Karene , the owners were very kind and helpful. They made sure our stay was a very happy one. They paid attention to every detail.
There were times we cooked, the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. There was also a washing machine we were able to use. The apt. was internet ready, there was cable tv and ac in the bedrooms. The mattresses were so comfortable- my back actually stopped hurting!
The beach is about a 7 minute walk away. Transport is easy because the buses are very close by. This property is very close to the supermarkets in Speightstown.
I told Karene about a lost earring. She emailed me to tell me it was found. I told her to save it for me because I am returning to Barbados and I plan to rent the AndKar Apartment once again. Everyday we were there, I told my husband that "Life is good!"
Heywoods Park is a delightful seaside residential neighbourhood with a mix of retired overseas and returning nationals and long stay foreign visitors who have adopted the island as their second home. Set back about half a mile from the beach, about a mile from Speightstown with its sleepy colonial charm and close to the up-market Port St. Charles Marina and residences in the area serves as a superb retreat for those who wish to be out of the hustle and bustle of modern life without sacrificing the benefits that modern conveniences offer.
Andkar Vacation Apartment is in very close proximity to Speightstown. Speightstown is the second largest town on the island located about twelve miles north of Bridgetown. In the North Western parish of St Peter. Speightstown is a lovely place to wander around. There are some historic buildings dating from colonial times such as The Arlington House Museum. The museum is located on the main street of the St Peter City.
