Quiet retreat in a peaceful orchard

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at the cottage was very peaceful and much needed. The apple trees surrounding the house created a lovely setting and made wonderful pies! The house was clean and comfortable for the most part especially the beds. We did find the furniture not to be comfortable and a bit outdated. However over all we had a wonderful stay and would stay there again.

Owner's Response: Shirley, the heirloom apples make great pies and fried apples with cinnamon. Fall is a wonderful time to visit Castine and explore our area during foliage season. Constance

Charming and comfortable accomidation and outdoor patio. Beatiful view across an inlet.

  • 4 of 5

The house is spacious and tastefully furnished. The kitchen excellently equipped and bathrooms quite functional. The property is beautifully located facing the waterfront. Outdoor living on a large patio and in an Apple orchard is quite extraordinary. The location is central to many attractions of the area.

The listing description was accurate regarding the location, layout and amenities.

The property was clean and well-maintained.

The owner provided excellent customer service.

I would recommend this property to your friends or relatives.

Restaurants of a great variety is available in the area for different taste. Besides the house is well equipped for home cooking or outdoor grilling.

Attractions for people with various interests and activities like golfing can be reached within comfortable distances.

This cottage was very comfortable and pleasant with good light and country charm

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed a grand time reconnecting in this intimate country cottage. We spent a lot of time on the back deck enjoying the view across Hatch Cove. Late night card games at the kitchen table were great fun.

Private & Beautiful View

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week never having visited Maine before. House is comfortable, great view and well equipped kitchen. Deck is the best place to be for sunsets and stargazing. Deer on property and wonderful bird watching (Ospreys, gulls, sparrows etc.) There are 3 bedrooms, 2 upstairs and one downstairs, beds are comfortable. Extremely private property. Plenty of local information and guides to area in the house. We hiked the Dice Lighthouse in Castine and the Witherly Woods - if you like hiking. We sailed on the Guildive sailboat docked downtown Castine - it was fantastic - book it first!!! Great sail and view of Castine. Talk to the Captains - Zander & Kate - a wealth of local knowledge and experience in Castine. Holbrook Island Sanctuary State Park for hiking, photography and history, very interesting. Visit the museum in Castine. Go to Ft Knox and up to the observatory in Prospect (top of the bridge). For Lobster Rolls and live lobster go to Bayview in Pennobscot.

Perfectly Tranquil Maine Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Wild Rose Cottage is a great place to stay in Castine. The house is wonderfully charming and is full of bright natural light. The view of the tidal river is so tranquil we never wanted to leave. The house is very private and despite being near route 166 it was very quiet. Constance the owner was accessible and very helpful. If you are looking for a lovely place to stay and do not need water access this house is it. My family will definitely be back.
