I grew up in La Jolla, California. I am a painter. I was invited to live in this apartment in 1989. The garden and apartment became the subject matter for most of my paintings. In 2004 I was able to purchase the apartment and then renovate it. It is still a work in progress. I have tried living in other areas of Paris but nothing compares to Saint Germain des Pres. The apartment could not be in a better location for enjoying Paris. I look forward to walking out my door every morning. My daughter and I are very happy to share our good fortune in being able to live in one of the most beautiful situations in Paris. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do.

Why Owner chose Notre-Dame-des-Champs
I have long family ties with this property so it was my dream to one day buy it. The building is magnificent, the location ideal, the ambiance sublime. Very quiet as it is at the back of a luxuriously green garden, totally protected from city noise.

Great apartment AND great location!
Loved it! A wonderful Paris apartment in a fabulous location. Perfect for our family of 4 and a treat to have Kathleen's beautiful art there too!
I felt French ...
Staying on Rue Cherche Midi in someone's apartment made my husband and I feel immersed in French culture. Miss Marshall's art and vast library surrounded us. The charming apartment featured authentic French architectural details, and the neighbors in the building were residents. We never felt we were in a 'rental', and we tried to respect the privacy of the full timers.
The neighborhood was to a human scale; we ate breakfast every morning at the famous Poilane bakery across the street, we ate twice at the local bistro called Cherche Midi and we were within walking distance of the metro stop and loads of shopping and other restaurants in the 6th arrondissement.
The accommodations were very roomy for two people and we would love to go back sometime. One note, however, there are stairs without a railing and some of the plumbing is delicate. If you have never lived in an old home with quirky systems, this would not be a good fit. Happily, none of this fazed me or my husband. The whole trip was magic.
Lovely Paris Apartment
Great location that we enjoyed for five days in Paris. Our host was very helpful and did a great job in communicating the unique aspects of this apartment.
We had a young child with us and the rules of the apartment of being quiet and the use of the garden had us constantly shushing her in fear we would get into trouble. While it worked out ok I would make sure that a child in this apartment was able to follow direction well.
I would recommend this apartment to a friend.
Beautiful place and neighborhood. Would do it all over again as the property is located near lots of nice restaurants, walking distance to many beautiful sites and provided a quiet get away to rest after a long day.
A quiet hideaway in the heart of the VIth. Close to everything, including a couple of great restaurants across the street and a bakery for morning croissants.
A lovely apartment in a charming area.
Thank you, Kathleen for sharing your wonderful apartment. It was perfect for our family. My granddaughter is planning on copying many of your design ideas for her new apartment in the fall. We appreciated the detailed instructions and the welcome supplies in the refrigerator. We had a memorable stay in Paris.
