You are probably familiar with the guard-gated private golf club community that is The Citrus Country Club. The Silver Rock Resort, home to the Bob Hope Classic, is directly across the street.
Our home is south facing (this is the most sought-after orientation) with a wonderful view of El Toro Mountain.
The pictures and the list of amenities pretty well tell the story. The home has everything you need for comfortable living.
Our home is available for 30 day minimum rentals year round.
This home is on the 2nd fairway of the Citrus course. Great for entertaining. We have opened the back yard to the golf course so that it feels like we have a large expanse of land and the whole fairway side of the house is glass. It gives the feel of being outside even when you are actually inside - where you have air conditioning if you need it.
The great room has a surround sound system to make those movies and concerts come to life. There is also a spacious wet bar with refrigerator in the great room.
The library/office is a great place for those things that need to be done while away and the wireless high speed internet connection makes it easy to keep up with the office, friends, family, or learn about things that are going on in the desert that you would want to know about.
It has everything from an HP printer/fax/copier/scanner to rubber bands and staplers. And yes, we keep an extra printer cartridge on hand because we know that the printer always runs out at the most inopportune times. Just bring your computer and make yourself at home.
We had a wonderful time making the casita a special place. We also enjoy sitting around the outside fireplace. It‘s a great place to visit or just relax and read a good book by the fire.

Jim and Kathy live in Redlands, just about 100 miles west of La Quinta, and hope to enjoy the desert home upon retirement. For now we are still skiers and, with both of our children - and therefore all of our grandchildren - living in the Sacramento area, we spend most of our discretionary time skiing at Lake Tahoe in the winter. This enables us to share our home with guests from Canada and other cold weather locations who really appreciate seeing our sunshine. For many years Kathy owned and managed her commercial interior design firm and Jim is in the medical field. We enjoy hosting guests and making every effort to be sure they have a wonderful time at the desert.
This home was purchased new for Kathy's parents upon their retirement in 2000 and has been maintained with the utmost of care.
We love the view of El Toro mountain. It is in the center of our field of vision in both the great room and the master bedroom suite. Our home also faces south which provides the very most sunshine. The surround sound in the great room makes for great music and movies and the fireplaces both inside and out provide atmosphere even though our evenings are relatively balmy. The beautiful casita with the luxurious king bed is a treat for any guest.
We have booked this delightful property for the third year in a row. It is so well stocked and maintained that it is starting to feel like our second home. Kathy adds updates regularly and responds right away if there are any problems. One day, last year, for example, the power to the garage wasn't working and she had someone come and fix it immediately. We can't wait to return this fall to our "home away from home" and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful views of the golf course and the distant mountains.
We've rented this place for the past 5 years, which is the best testimonial we can give it. The beautiful setting, strengths, and amenities are accurately described by the owners and other reviewers.
But there are additional benefits. The house was once a full-time residence and is used part of the year by the owners. Consequently, it is fully equipped and needs nothing extra. The appliances are new and first quality, and the master and living room TVs, with accompanying sound systems, are as good as they get.
The house is fully wired for internet, with a strong Apple router. The separate, fully equipped office provides a comfortable spot for doing paper work and computing, which helps keep the living space a living space. Abutting the well equipped patio, the backyard pool, with its automated waterfall, provides soothing sounds throughout the day and a great place for a dip.
Finally, because it's a full-time residence, the owners are extremely responsive when, as with any house, something sometimes goes wrong. They love the place and it shows in the way they care for it. They are also a pleasure to deal with...no drama!
Bottom line: there's only upside to this rental. We recommend it enthusiastically and without reservation.
We rented this property for the entire month of November. The instant we walked through the front door, I knew we had chosen well. The property looks even better in real life than it does in the photos. It is bright, tasteful, cozy and very well equipped. The view out over the golf course and distant mountains is absolutely beautiful. The outdoor living spaces, which include an outdoor fireplace, pool, spa and dining area, are very aesthetic and feature comfortable outdoor furniture. Lying by the poolside and being lulled by the white noise of the spa waterfall was one of our favourite pastimes.
The bed in the master suite was extremely comfortable and had minimal transfer of motion (I am a light sleeper and have a bad back so both of these features are crucial to me). The second bedroom and the casita, both with ensuite bathrooms, were the perfect spaces for guests.
The owner, Kathy, was delightful to deal with and provided very clear and easy to understand instructions for the use of all amenities. The media system was first class with a 72-inch television that we thoroughly enjoyed using. We also appreciated the free long distance (within North America) phone service, especially given that we needed to keep in touch with family and work back home.
We really enjoyed our stay at this property and hope to return in the future.
My wife and I have been renting in the valley for over 15 years and finally have found the perfect spot for us. We were immediately comfortable and relaxed. The home is maintained beautifully, everything is supplied and works, immaculately clean, great view, and great privacy. Kathy is wonderful to work with. Really, it can't get any better.

My husband and I were "guests" for all of Feb. and Mar. 2013 -- and loved it so much that we re-upped for 2014 and added a month. Can't say enough about the comfort and serenity of this home and the owners' prompt attention to our every need. The kitchen is marvelously equipped and the office a spacious retreat; the master suite plus two guest suites make for wonderful privacy when hosting visitors. All in all, an ideal vacation spot in a region we've come to know and love. Can't wait to hear the gentle waterfall on the patio once again...
Really enjoyed the house, it was clean and well supplied especially the office. We were looking to buy a property in the area so the office including the WIFI printer etc. turned out to be extremely helpful. We loved the room in the house (only 2 of us), the kitchen is very well equipped and having a lemon tree in the back side yard was terrific for cooking and fresh oranges in front of the house was unbelievable!! The barbecue was very useful when required. Only used the master bedroom and the bed was very comfortable.
We had a couple issues with ants and electrical problem and the owner took immediate action to rectify the problems.
The property has this wonderful south exposure with lovely outdoor furnture and we always felt extremely safe in the Citrus development. Used the spa only and it was extremely enjoyable.
The Citrus course is a private course but there are many many surrounding courses where you can play - such as Silver Rock - if you are a golfer.
