About Barbara & Rob Maier
We're retired professionals who love the arts and nature. We have our shellfish licenses and love nothing more than digging our own clams and bringing them to the beach, building a fire, and steaming them. So sweet!
Barbara & Rob Maier purchased this House in 2006
Why Barbara & Rob Maier chose Nantucket Island
My Mom, who adored Nantucket too, said one day we would have a place in this Miacomet/Cisco location. It's next to the golf course, near the beach, Bartlett Farm, the Brewery and not far from town. The openness of the sky and moors as you walk to the beach just clears your head!
What makes this House unique
The loved the spaciousness of the layout of this property the moment we stepped in. It's a great space for entertaining inside and out. While Nantucket's beaches are magnificent, it's nice to have a pool too!! Many of our guests get a big kick out of the fact that grammy award winner Meghan Trainor grew up in this house.

Great spot and wonderful owners!
We loved our stay at this location - the house was well-laid out with plenty of room for kids to spread out. The pool was a hit, and location great - it's a beautiful area of the island. Thanks to Barbara and Rob for taking such good care of us!
Perfect for Mult-Generational Family!
A wonderful home to vacation! Barbara and Rob are very reachable and are quick to respond with any issue or advice, before, during, and after our stay!
We are a family of: (2) grandparents; (2) adult children and their spouses; (1) adult niece; (5) grandchildren ages 2 years - 9 years. This home has everything to make it special: lovely to look at, warm and inviting; furniture that you are not afraid to sit on or use; well maintained with lots of towels and sheets and clean, clean, clean; well-stocked kitchen; a full-size washer and dryer in the mud room; (6) bedrooms, with comfortable beds enough for all of us; (4) bathrooms, (2) of which are ensuite. There is a loft with a double bed that the children love to use to play "fort" or where the big kids go so the little kids do not interrupt their Star Wars play!
The pool in the backyard is a hit with the kids and the adults! With so many ages, there is always a nap time involved. The child can nap while the children play in the pool, then we get to go back to the beach! The beach has great waves for the older children and a pond close by that the younger ones enjoy. There are 2 kayaks at the house that we take for rides around the pond. The kids love that!
The golf course is an easy walk from the house. The golfers in the group love that. They play early in the AM almost before the kids are awake, and are back in time for beach or pool or trip into town.
The yard is the perfect place for a baseball game, a game of catch, water balloon fights, lighting sparklers, catching lightning bugs, etc., etc..
A trip to Cisco Breweries is always a hit with everyone. The music, the fun, the food, all are enjoyed by everyone. It is also a quick walk from the house, as well as Bartlett's Farm.
Fine dining is not an option with all the kids, so we usually make sure we get to The Tavern at least once and The Lobster Pot is an annual treat! And of course the ice cream at Stars is a must, as well as Aunt Leah's Fudge!
The adults in the group prefer Straight Wharf Restaurant or the fine dining at The Cliffside, but these days are mostly time to spend with the whole family. Our children live in Chicago and LA so our times together are special. This house and this island that we love so much, is the perfect place to unwind, relax, and enjoy each other's company!
We do not hesitate to recommend this home to any group or family! For this multi-generational family this home is PERFECT!!
Enjoy your 20x40 foot private pool or walk, bike, or drive to the beach that's less than a mile away.
The Miacomet Golf Club, a five-minute walk from your door to the first tee, is the only 18-hole course on the island available to the public.
There is a bus stop 500 yards from the house that links all parts of the island.
A walk or bike ride away is Bartlett Farm with their extraordinary fresh vegetables and foods, a great fish market, 167 Raw(they sell meats too!), and the Cisco Winery and Brewery … a fun destination for buying and tasting and live music!
Golf: The Miacomet Golf Course is Nantucket’s only 18-hole public golf facility. Located within the Smooth Hummocks Coastal Preserve southwest of downtown Nantucket Island, this links-style course is owned by the Nantucket Islands Land Bank. A fully functional putting green and driving range allow both experienced golfers and beginners alike can perfect their game before hitting the links. Lessons are available for all ages. The course is complete with four tee options, challenging holes, and miraculous island views. The Club Restaurant and 'snack shack' provide patrons with great food, a friendly atmosphere, and a place to relax anytime of the day.
