Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-12)

Save time, gas & stress by not driving up north. You can even keep working if you like, and the kids won’t miss their games! This home has a beautiful beach on private all sports Horseshoe Lake – a great swimming and fishing lake with little boat traffic.

Take a cruise around the lake in the boat, or just sit back and watch the kids swim. The included raft and beach toys will keep them entertained. You are also welcome to bring your own boat if you like - there is a private boat launch just down the road.

This home was built in 2008 and is well maintained. It has a well furnished kitchen and a BBQ. If you don't like to cook, you can have your food and drinks delivered!

The home sleeps six adults comfortably, and can accommodate more if some are children (or are otherwise willing to sleep in a semi-private loft area) Each of the three bedrooms has a king bed, and two of them also have a couch that converts into a double bed. The loft area also has a couch that converts to a double bed.

PRICES AND AVAILABILITY FOR 2017:

For years I had lots of details on price in my property description. This year I started taking online reservations, so putting the details her was repetitive. I do still try to rent by the week only during the summer, with weeks starting on a Friday. So I may not accept a reservation request if it leaves me with an odd chunk of time that I might not be able to rent. I will respond and share my logic though, and hopefully we will be able to figure out a time that works well for everyone.

Also I generally put a grad student in it for the off season so I do not do short term rentals from Labor Day until May of the next year. And to keep it simple I just show no availability during that chunk of time on my calendar. But if you want a longer term stay (several months) that is not during the summer season feel free to inquire about that. At this time I do not have a person to rent the place for the fall of 2018 and spring of 2018, so I have some flexibility.

Why John Urquhart chose Michigan

I have a family cottage in northern Michigan, but I often can't get away on the weekends. I wanted to build a lake house close to my house, so I could use it when I have social commitments that require me to be in town on the weekend. I am renting it when I am not using it to help pay for it.

What makes this house unique

I love that it is just like being on a lake in northern Michigan - but I can be in downtown Ann Arbor or Brighton in 10 minutes.

Great home for a relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

Well appointed lake home, nice little beach for kids to build sand castles. A private lake ensures that people are respectful and share the lake, meaning it is not overrun by motorized boats, garbage, or anything else that comes with a lake with public access. Really appreciated that residents were mindful of kids swimming in the water and you can actually use the kayaks without feeling like you are going to be knocked over by wave runners. There is very little you need to bring as John has thoughtfully supplied items needed for the stay and previous renters have left things behind (including some board games). John is very responsive and the home comes with a binder that a renter should read at the start of the stay. It has all the answers. Will rent again!

Wonderful reunion for our family

  • 5 of 5

We were in Michigan for a family wedding in Dexter and this was a great place to hang out with each other between events. The facilities were very comfortable and well supplied. The lake is beautiful and brought back many memories from our younger days. Our toddler had a great time unfamiliar toys, perfect touch! We would all stay there again.

An absolutely wonderful experience

  • 5 of 5

We were in Ann Arbor for a graduation and chose this house because of the location, the lake and the boats. The weather meant that the boating aspect of the trip was not possible. Oh well, you can't control the weather. We had a great time visiting, playing games, watching movies, etc. The house was roomy enough for 8 adults (no couples, but still enough beds) and an infant. The house is well furnished (the king beds were great; the futons were functional, if not very comfortable) and very well supplied. The little glitches were promptly addressed by the owner, who was very accommodating and thorough. I recommend this house unreservedly and, should I return to Michigan, I would absolutely check here for availability. This rating is unanimous among our group.

Awesome vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is our 5th year in the past 7 and we are already planning next summer. The house is spacious, comfortable, and clean. The kayaks and fishing boat were a hit and although we had a few cooler days it was fun doing puzzles and playing Pictionary at the huge kitchen table. With 7 adults and 5 children we had plenty of room. It was hard coming home. Thank you for sharing your home.

What a fantacsit time in a beautiful spot!

  • 5 of 5

We all had such an excellent time at your lake home. It was so comfortable and the kids (including the big kid, my husband) had the best time out on the water and playing in the sand. The toys keep the children busy for hours and it was always easy to get them to seep - they loved the bunk beds. It was such and nice and relaxed time with plenty of room for us all. Thank you for sharing such a special place.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

This summer will be our 3rd time at this lake house in 4 years. All the comforts of home, and then some. Air conditioned when it's too hot, beautiful kitchen, and a great view of the lake. New, clean, quiet, and the kids and grandkids can't wait to jump off the new diving platform.
