Bright airy ground floor unit with many amenities in the Holgate area of southern Long Beach Island, near the Bird Sanctuary, ocean and bay beaches. A great place for kids near Beach Haven, a shopping hub of the island with many stores, a grocery store, restaurants, bars, an amusement park and other amenities.
The ocean beach requires beach passes, four (4) of which are loaned for the rental. The area is very peaceful, yet offers many opportunities for shopping, nightlife, miniature golf, and all the other fun things to do at the beach.
Surroundings: This property is located in a family friendly quiet section of Long Beach Island. The ocean is a very short walk away, as is the bay. There is bicycle riding, walking, and running easily accessible. A few blocks south is a federal bird sanctuary with all sorts of seabirds around. Long Beach Island is one island north of Atlantic City, so that is easily seen from many locations in Holgate. Beach haven is located north of Holgate with plenty of shopping, restaurants, bars and other amenities.
The beds were comfortable....kitchen was well supplied....loved the outside shower....landlord was very responsive to unexpected events....close to ocean and bay beaches.....definitely recommend for up to 6 people with 2 sleeping on comfortable couches.
So enjoyed my week’s stay here. I loved the convenience of being so close to the beach and that the beach badges were included in the rent. The house is very comfortable. The owners have made great use of the space. One of the rooms was freshly painted and recently updated decor throughout was a nice touch. The outdoor shower was also freshly painted. The deck was great! A short walk to get to the ocean beach OR to watch the sunset at the bay beach....doesn't get any better than that!
We found the house to be a great value, very comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. The kitchen, bath and large living room are nicely and cleanly decorated and updated; bedrooms provided all we needed. The ownwer was easy to work with and responsive to inquiries. The quiet end-of-island location is great, with short walk to either bay or ocean, but convenient to Beach Haven retail by car. We’ve rented various houses on LBI over the years, and would definitely rent here again.
The property is not well maintained, The deck in the back of the home is rotting and has not been replace since Hurricane Sandy. My husband scraped barnacles off it. The house has some mold issues. Nothing has been done since Sandy
( bathroom sealing has a patch of black mold from a leak in the ceiling from upstairs unit.) Lots of dust on the furniture and stains on furniture cushions that have not been washed. I reached out to the owner and he had the cleaner service contact me, (how ever we had cleaned it ourselves). They indicated that they are just a change over service... they only clean the bathroom and kitchen along with a sweeping through out the house which was an issue because they had an old rug that was in the living room that had dirt swept underneath it. The enclosed shower that is located in the back of the home is very dirty and full of pine needle. The house has a lot of potential but needs some TLC. The location is great, The neighbors are very welcoming and care about there neighborhood as it is there home/investment property. Right now I would not recommend this house to a friend. we did enjoy the area. it has quit beaches and lots of attractions and restaurants. Suggestion... if they can't change the deck they can at least have it removed and put some gravel/rocks with the patio set, bbq, and some stepping stones. Just because it was affordable doesn't mean it has be unmaintained.
Beach haven is a shopping, dining, and entertainment hub on Long Beach Island. It is about 2 miles from the house on Carolina Ave.
