All the amenities you would expect in a luxury condo...WiFi, unlimited long distance calling in U.S. & Canada, fully equipped kitchen with granite counters and Bosch appliances. Flat screen TVs in living room and both bedrooms. Fantastic floor plan allowing for ultimate in privacy (the bedrooms plus bathrooms are on either side of the living area). For your convenience, we keep sugar, tea, spices, beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels, and paper towels stocked, so you feel at home the second you walk in the door! The unit is on the 6th floor of the Hokulani Tower and has mountain view.

Hi Maui Travelers,

my name is Silke, and I am from Munich, Germany. I relocated to Silicon Valley in 1998 and am a sales professional at a Fortune 500 company. I visit Maui once a year and have a property manager in Maui who provides stellar service to my guests.

The Owner purchased this condo in 2009

Why The Owner chose Maui

When I first came to West Maui in 1994, I made an immediate decision to retire here at some point. We bought our condo in 2009 in hopes of this being our way to make this dream come true one distant day in the future. Until then, we hope you enjoy our place as much as we do!

Great vacation experience with young children

Stayed at Honua Kai Hokulani Tower #622 for 5 nights in April 2017. Easy booking and owner, Silke, was prompt in answering e-mails during the booking process. Condo has a mountain view and is on the 6th floor. Exactly as described, and pictures are representative. Unit was clean and comfortable. Appliances all worked as expected. Kitchen well stocked with dishware, silverware, and pots and pans, with oil, salt, pepper and a few condiments. Dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, paper towels and dishwashing liquid provided. Shampoo and conditioner and soap, just like in a hotel.

2 bedrooms, 2 baths made it comfortable for our family of four. Kids had their own bedroom, which was great. Beach towels, flotation devices, snorkeling gear, pool noodles, sand toys all provided. Only thing that would have been nice is a step stool for little kids to use to reach sink and toilet.

Ate at the one restaurant on site (Duke's) for lunch once and dinner once. Pretty tasty, but not inexpensive. Used the concierge services to book one activity, which was very convenient. Coffee shop/ convenience store was also great.

Two days into the stay, I e-mailed Silke to add an extra half day, once I realized that we had an evening flight on our day of departure. Easy to arrange, and just needed to update the wristband keys with security.

Location in Kaanapali was very convenient, plenty of places to eat nearby and in Lahaina, which was just 10 minutes south. Grocery stores very close. Overall a great experience, WAY better than staying in a hotel! Thanks a lot!

A perfect Maui resort and room!

Hanua Kai 622

We truly and thoroughly enjoyed our September stay at the Hanua Kai unit 622.

My wife and I recently traveled to Maui with our daughter (10 years), our son (18 months) and my father-in-law. We found this unit to not only be beautifully finished and appointed but well stocked and conveniently located with quick access to the elevator, lobby, pools and parking.

The large kitchen is open to the living room with two large walls of windows in what feels much like a corner unit. With mountain views, we enjoyed sunlight flooding our bedroom each morning while with the shades drawn the master was quite dark mid day which helped our son with his napping. This unit was very quiet and we were left undisturbed by adjacent units or by commotion in the hallway.

With a full kitchen including dishwasher, we were able to enjoy many meals in this unit and barbecued several times taking advantage of the facilities located near the pool. A washer and dryer rounded out the home like amenities in the unit. Dish washing detergent and well as clothes washing detergent were stocked and ready to go. Plastic garbage sacks were in ready supply as well. Wi-if was also included at no additional charge via dedicated secure modem/router located en suite.

The grounds at the Honua Kai are lush and immaculately maintained. The many pools are beautiful and the staff poolside was great. A construction site is located next door though work was halted several years ago. It might be wise to check if work has resumed though I would expect the insulated windows would successfully block out much of the noise caused by an active site.

My daughter and I spent much of our time on the fantastic beach and snorkeling in the reef just out front of this property. The sea scape and fishes are amazing. We found a young turtle one day which allowed us to swim nearby and watch him chomp on his favorite foods. The beach is situated facing west with views of Lanai and Molokai and always a gorgeous sunset on the horizon.

This property is well located in Ka'anapali close enough for a great ocean front walk south to Whalers Village or north to the nearby grocery store. Parking was free and no additional resort fees were required. We had zero surprises.

The owner, Silke, was great to work with and checked in with us several times during our stay.

Excellent accommodation in a great location

We spent a week in the unit and were very pleased with the accomodations. It was well equipped with many necessities and was very comfortable. The linens and towels were high quality and the beds were very comfortable. The Honua Kai property has many pools, hot tubs and other amenities which make it good for families and couples.

The location is very good with easy access to shopping restaurants and beaches.

Silke was very easy to deal with and everything was as reported. Before we went, we read the reviews about the neighbouring construction and can confirm that this was not an issue. While the Westin is still being finished, there was no interfernce with our vacation. I definitely recommend this property and the owner.

Comfortable stay, would return

Silke was easy to work with. There were no surprises and that counts for a lot for me.

Pros: comfortable, clean unit with a dependable and responsive owner. The overall property is well run, good for families and pretty laid back. We walked along the boardwalk and didn't see any property in the area we would rather have been at.

Cons: the only real con is the construction. But I was not surprised by this as the owner is forthcoming with the info and other reviews have covered this at length. The unit is very well sound proofed as others have mentioned but it is true that you don't get much use out of the balcony due to the sound of the construction and the tendency for it to be windy on that side. Parts of the beach also suffer from the sound of the construction. It was not a major issue though and we had a really good time.

With these details out of the way I'd definitely recommend to a friend

Great Rental

Our 4th time at Honua Kai since 1012, and this condo was great. It was very easy to make all of the arrangements with Silke. Good communication, and a pleasure to deal with. The unit was well kept and stocked, and had a nice view of the West Maui Mountains. We have have stayed in prior ocean view units, but we were happy to save a few $$$ (the rates go up each year). Also, the unit was very convenient to Aina's Gourmet Café downstairs, which was a big plus for us. Caveat -- there is construction next door, but we kept the curtains closed on that side and did not see it the entire trip.

Owner's Response: As of late August, the cranes have been removed. The scaffolds on the building next door are still on, which makes it not that pleasant to look at. There is NO NOISE IMPACT, only a visual one if you look out that one window. It is wise to follow this guest's recommendation and keep the curtains drawn on that side, also because that is where the sun hits in the morning, and the AC will have to work extra hard otherwise. ALL WINDOWS IN THE LIVING ROOM AND BOTH BEDROOMS GO OUT TO THE WEST MAUI MOUNTAINS. ONLY THE LIVING ROOM HAS A SIDE WINDOW THAT LOOKS OUT TO THE WESTIN - THAT IS THE ONE WHERE I RECOMMEND YOU KEEP THE CURTAINS DRAWN.
