Oak Harbor is owned and operated by the Anderson Family, who built this beautiful property from the ground up over the past 45 years!
Gregg Anderson and family will be your hosts during your stay with the help of their amazing staff.
Gregg Anderson purchased this cabin in 1970
Jack and Nell Anderson originally bought the property in 1970 and spent years building it into a small fish camp. Their son, Gregg, took over soon after and began expanding and growing the park, and in the year 2000, bought the first Rental Cabin to attract a new customer base of folks looking for a camping experience without all the hassle, but with more of the comforts of home.
In 2009, Gregg's son, Miles, joined the family team full-time as the third generation after graduating college, and began immediately working toward building up a summer customer base and attracting both families from the Central Florida area as well as other states, and even other countries.
The Anderson Family has invested their lives in this property and the area, and is very excited to share the unique experience with you!
Oak Harbor is located on a 1,000 acre natural freshwater private lake, which happens to be the 2nd largest lake in Polk County. The property is around 80 acres and includes orange groves, oak hammocks, 2 canals, a recreation hall, boat rentals, 15 vacation rentals, and 125 RV sites.
The unique location and layout of our park creates a quiet, relaxing atmosphere where you can choose to sit under the huge 200 year old Oak Trees with watching the Spanish Moss sway to and fro, or head down to the lakefront and listen to the waves gently lap at the water's edge. It is a truly special place that we are proud to not only call our business, but also our home.
I had a wonderful time at this establishment. I visited Oak's Harbor with my mother for a few nights. My primary goal was to escape the busyness of the Washington, D.C area and stay in a nice, quiet, and peaceful environment. My mom, who lives in northern Florida, loves fishing, so I wanted to take her to a location where she could fish. We were more than satisfied. I was able to escape the busyness of D.C. for some tranquility, and my mom was able to catch many fish.
First, we stayed at a cabin with a deck attached that is second to none. There was also a screened in area overlooking the lake, within the screen was a table and several chairs, allowing you to stop and take in the nature in the area. The cabin inside was clean, well maintained, and had everything we needed to make a living. The owner, Mr. Anderson, provided excellent customer service. He was more than helpful and had a pleasant personality.
Now to the fishing, right off the deck we caught a numerous amount of fish - primarily huge panfish. There is a place on the property where you can clean your fish. I cleaned the fish there and we had a meal for about two days. Next time we will rent the Pontoon boat and explore more of the lake.
Overall, our stay was a dream come true.
If you want to stay in a quiet, peaceful environment, and want to escape the busyness of life, please stay here. I highly recommend this property.
We had a spectacular time in this cabin! Such a peaceful and harmonious place! We were driving from Miami late at night and Gregg met us almost at 11 p.m. He told us everything we needed to know about the cabin and wished us a great stay! The cabin was very clean and well-maintained, everything worked perfectly fine! No dust was anywhere to be found. Kitchen was in perfect condition with all the equipment needed. We wanted to use the grill, which comes with every cabin out there, but due to a shower outside, we were not able to use it at all. We caught a ray of light and at that time were having a wonderful breakfast right on the roofed pier 1 minute away from our cabin. Very lovely and extremely romantic getaway. Thank you all for having us and we are hoping to be back soon! I totally fell in love with this peace, comfort and coziness.
I would recommend this property and cabins to people that I know. I was very satisfied with my stay and the way management operates this property. Good job people. Thank You.
My husband and I stayed at Oak Harbor in one of their deluxe cabins. Most places you rent are never as pretty as the pictures, and places on the water are never as close as the pictures make them seem. Not with Oak Harbor – their cabins are on a canal that leads to the lake. We were in a cabin that the second furthest from the lake, but we still had a gorgeous view. I would even consider this cabin more private compared to the cabins directly facing the lake because the only people passing by were the people traveling to and from Oak Harbor; the cabins right on the lake had all boaters passing by (which wasn't many, maybe one or two while we stayed there, but still).
We originally reserved the bungalow cabin, but upon arrival we were told the AC quit working and we were upgraded to a deluxe at no extra charge. Though the bungalow looked nice, I would definitely upgrade to a deluxe if/when we were to visit again. There is a screened in porch that overlooks the canal/lake, then an outer deck where you can sit and fish from – this is where we spent most of our time.
The interior of the cabin was perfect, it was in great shape and had the cozy cabin feel we were looking for. The loft on the second floor is adorable, if you were bringing kids they would love it up there and could watch tv right from the loft. There were plates, cups, silverware, kitchenware and anything else you could need to cook up a meal. They provide a propane grill outside that we cooked up some burgers on.
Aside from the wonderful cabin, the staff was very friendly and helpful as well. I made the reservations via email with Miles online, and when we arrived we checked in with Peggy. She showed us our cabin and told us about all the amenities in the park (clubhouse, pool table, washer/dryer, etc.), then let us be for the rest of the weekend.
I would definitely stay again, it was the peaceful get away we were looking for.
I'm originally from up north and I used to retreat to NH once a year to "reboot." That's quite a far drive from Fort Lauderdale and I needed a retreat away from palm trees, beaches and tourists. I just wanted to relax and reconnect with my inner country girl and Oak Harbor was absolutely perfect! My expectations were exceeded from my first inquiry until the moment I left. When I contacted Oak Harbor, Miles got back to me immediately. He answered every question and assured me that he could accommodate my needs and requests. A few days prior to my arrival, he sent me a thorough list of nearby restaurants and attractions. When I arrived, not only did Miles greet me and let me know that my cabin was ready with all that I requested, but he also turned the A/C on earlier to make sure the cabin was comfortable for my arrival. I was impressed with how well maintained the grounds were and how immaculate the cabin was. It had everything I needed and the bed was so comfortable, I wanted to take it home with me. The cabin was quaint and charming and yet it still had some modern comforts (like electricity...A/C, TV, DVD player). The lake couldn't not have been more than 100 feet from my front door and was a perfect sanctuary for relaxing and meditating. The peaceful sound of the water lapping upon the dock and the chorus of wildlife in the background was perfect for watching the sun set. There were plenty of activities (boating, fishing, activity room) that I didn't have time to enjoy, but look forward to when I return. I cannot think of anything that was lacking except for more time to enjoy all that Oak Harbor has to offer. I can't wait until my next visit!
Great getaway and an awesome celebration for my grandsons birthday. It was neat, clean, and Miles was a very accommodating. We can't wait to go back...wish we were there now!!!
