Overview

Boothbay Harbor Area House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 1 half bath, sleeps 13+

Relax on the large wrap-around or the private master bedroom deck and watch the seals on the small island in front of the house, or watch the ospreys and bald eagles flying by. If you want to get away from it all, this waterfront home is what you are looking for but still only 20-60 minutes to shopping, historical sites, quaint villages, forts, and beaches. This area is truly a boater's paradise with many rivers and islands to explore with a secure deep-water private dock and mooring, or just enjoy the water from the large deck with southern exposure, private deck from first floor master bedroom suite, beach access, fully equipped kitchen for preparing those gourmet meals, or the gas grill for barbecues. Also include 2 gas fireplaces for atmosphere or outdoor fire pit for relaxing with a cocktail and/or smores. Each bedroom has a TV, surround sound family room with cable and wireless internet to stay connected.

Location: This beautiful retreat is located just 75 feet from deep water frontage with a private dock, mooring and beach access. The island does have a boat landing or you can just sail or power your boat over to a secure dock or mooring to explore the many sites surrounding Westport Island such as the Boothbay Harbor region, Five Islands, Fort Popham or the other many surrounding islands and attractions. Great restaurants are a short boat ride away. No boat no problem enjoy watching the lobster-men at work, sailboats, seal watching or just relax and read a good book on the large deck. Located on a private road for walks or bicycling or take advantage of several walking trails located on the island. Enjoy beautiful sunrises from any room in the house and if you are here during the full moon you can enjoy the spectacular moonrise. In the evening open up the dining room to the screened-in deck or just sit and enjoy a glass of wine or nightcap.

Amenities: Enjoy the modern kitchen for creating gourmet meals or the gas grill for that great barbecue. Arrange for fresh lobster for a lobster-bake. All the comforts of home including dishwasher, washer/dryer, separate ice maker in the sun room/wet bar area with blender for all those frozen drinks and wine cooler. Stay in touch with high-speed wireless Internet, unlimited US phone calls, cable TV, DVR, great books in the library, DVD, VCR, CD players, games, etc. There is a crib and a pack and play available also. All linens and towels are provided, as well as toiletries. The master bedroom suite and great room have fireplaces or enjoy a campfire on the terrace.

What to do?: If exploring is on your mind, the midcoast area has lots to offer. There are many antique shops and markets up and down the coast, a great botanical garden with a special 'kids' garden, great restaurants and of course the best seafood in the country, many beaches such as Reid State Park, Popham, Pemaquid, or Damariscotta State Park, Maine Maritime Museum , Fort Edgecomb, Fort Pemaquid and Fort Popham. All these areas are within 1 hour or less driving time.

A slice of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

We recently had the pleasure of renting this beautiful house and can't say enough great things about it. We were a group of ten people ranging in age from 3-63. The house is big enough to all come together as a group or to go in a corner by yourself and relax. HUGE plus!

I know some people in previous reviews found that the location of the house to the nearest town (approximately 20 mins) was troublesome. That was definitely not the case for us. So incredibly peaceful...it was probably the best night's sleep that anyone has had in a very long time.

The house is well stocked and I mean WELL stocked. We have NEVER stayed in a house that had this many amenities. We especially liked the fact that there was a separate beverage station so that all the drinks (like soda, water, etc) could be put in the small refrigerator and not take up valuable space in the kitchen refrigerator. There was every kind of kitchen utensil, more than enough dishes and cups for everyone, pots and pans galore, electric griddle, and TONS of silverware. There were also a variety of platters and other serving dishes in the house. Super important with such a big group. Things like dish soap, dishwasher tabs, garbage bags, etc were all there for us to use. In house laundry was wonderful and there were laundry products there for us to use. I think the ONLY thing missing were laundry baskets but if that's the ONLY thing missing then we can totally deal with it.

Bedrooms were of great size with lots of extra bedding included (sheets, blankets, pillows, etc). Loved the fact that were are room darkening shades in the bedrooms so that the little one could sleep a little later than the 530am sunrise and could take a nap during the day. We also loved the fact that we didn't have to bring our own bath towels. Lots of towels are provided.

The views were spectacular. We spent so much time outside at the house....bird watching, looking for seals, watching the lobstermen empty there traps etc. Nice that a grill is provided too. I think the only thing we didn't get to was making s'mores on the firepit.

We did several daytrips to Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset, Popham Beach, Pemaquid etc. Dinner at the Squire Tarbox Inn is a must (2 miles from the house). We would not hesitate to recommend this house to friends and family - it is well taken care of, very clean and comfortable and Doris was a DELIGHT to work with. We WILL be back next year!!!

Perfect for all ages

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of five adults and five kids spent a great week in this house, enjoying the beautiful water views and the fine amenities. We took day trips to Boothbay and to Reid State Park, kayaked off the dock, swam in the little cove on Kehail Point, and enjoyed dinners cooked at home in the beautiful, well-appointed kitchen, and at restaurants in Georgetown and Boothbay. The downstairs area was a great space for the five kids with plenty of sleeping room and a full bathroom (and fast wifi, much appreciated by the teens). The upstairs rooms were spacious and comfortable, and even with multiple showers, loads of laundry, and the dishwasher, we never once ran out of hot water. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Lots of amenities!!

  • 5 of 5

Every year three couples take a fall trip and this year we chose Maine. Looking on VRBO for a place to stay we found this wonderful very roomy place, from the beginning, Doris was very easy to work with. We got in after dark and was kind of hard to navigate but we found it and was very much surprised to find out how big it was. All the rooms on main floor are very roomy. The next morning we woke up to beautiful views overlooking the inlet. We got to enjoy fall foliage, pumpkin festival, boat ride, lobster dinners cooked at the house, fire in the fire pit on patio, full moon and bottles of wine and beer. The house is well equipped for everything you need, games and books included. All 3 couples agreed this was the most spacious place we have rented in our 20+ years of doing our fall trip. We would definitely recommend it to others. We all wanted to stay an extra week but had to get back. Thanks for sharing your Beautiful Home with us.

Beautiful home, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

The home, views, and yard are much lovelier than the photographs. We (a group of ten ranging in age from almost three years old to 98 years old) had a wonderful time, taking day trips (Bath, Wiscasset, Morse Mountain, Popham Beach, local forts, Boothbay Harbor, e.g.), and putting together wonderful meals in the evening. I think we maybe turned the tv on once. The outdoor spaces (screened in porch, decks, docks, patio, pathways) are just as lovely as the house.

Spacious and lovely. Perfect for us.

  • 5 of 5

This house is more spacious and lovely than the photos can show you. Our extended family had the best vacation together yet. We were delighted with the beautiful views, the wonderful kitchen and dining facilities, the dock, the decks, screened porch, large bedrooms. We had to pinch ourselves to believe we had found such a gem. It really exceeded our expectations by a lot! The layout is perfect for extended families with a variety of bedtimes. All of our great cooks loved the kitchen and the extra bar/eating area with a drinks fridge, ice machine, and extra sink. The grill on the deck and the lobster pot were in constant use. The open kitchen allows the cooks to be social without having others in their way.

The owners were very helpful and friendly. The house is very clean and well maintained.

We rented kayaks and brought our own canoe and kayaks, so a lot of time was spent on the water. With 6 children ages 10 and under, there was never a dull moment. We had lobster nearly every day, usually from the Co-op. We swam at the small beach within walking distance, and were usually the only ones there. The layout of the house is such that you can keep the children in view easily, and can have clear rules about where one needs to wear a life jacket.

There is so much to do from the house, that you would never have to leave it, and never have to wait for late risers or nappers to wake up before you get out to do things. Nevertheless, we went to Reid State Park for more waves, and to Booth Bay Harbor for the Cabbage Island Clambake. The Botanical Gardens were very much loved by the children, and some day the adults hope to see more of the gardens since we get stuck every year in the children's garden, from whence it is impossible to pry the children loose!

If only the house were available for our dates next year!! We will never find another locale as perfect as this one.
