This recently completed luxury holiday home situated on Rossmore Island, County Kerry is in a particularly beautiful part of 'the Kingdom' as it is call in Ireland. It is between the busy and attractive market town of Kenmare and the idyllic colourful village of Sneem.
Rossmore Island, if you look at a map, appears approximately half way down the Kenmare Bay, on the northern shore of the Kenmare Bay, between the Iveragh and the Beara Peninsulars.
This stunning coastal location looks over Coonagh Bay and up into the mountains and has a 360 degree view that constantly changes with the unique light that County Kerry produces. Access to the island is over a stone bridge and once you are on the island you can immediately feel the relaxing atmosphere of Kerry, take over.
The interior of the house as been designed to allow for two living spaces.
The upstairs area has a magnificent panoramic sitting room and bedroom with bathroom en-suite. It has a centrally placed gas fire that instantly gives the room a warmth and atmosphere. To sit up here and watch the birds, the mountains and the sea, between the chapters of your current book, is more than special.
Downstairs there is a Den/TV room with an open fire place great for those who need to catch up with news/sports or simply watch a movie.
The kitchen, which is superbly fitted out, and the eating area, is a very large open space and has a fabulous circular table that sits 10 comfortably for either a formal dinner or a relaxing late morning brunch. There are double doors that lead out from the kitchen to a wonderful seating area, which is great for breakfast, or your pre-dinner drink. What a view first thing in the morning too, breath taking.
By the way the house is not suitable for toddlers or children under 12 years of age.
Lettings are for a minimum of 7 nights, you can get those rates from the rate card section.
Whatever happens, we hope you enjoy your time at The Hollies.
We spent a lovely week at The Hollies in April; there hardly a drop of rain. The setting is just off the Ring of Kerry and is predominantlly pastoral/ agricultural, which appealed to us. There is varied wildlife too.
The house is wonderful, comfortable, beautifully furnished, light bright and cheerful. Mornings can be spent having cups of coffee in bed while gazing out at the seals, otters and sea birds which populate the bay.
The town of Kenmare and the village of Sneem are only a few miles away and are great fun to explore. There's a farmers market on Saturday's in Kenmare that should not be missed, one should stop in Kenmare on the way to the house to buy fish, cheese, pastries, olives bread and vegetables.
The stove at the Hollies is a joy.
A car is important and the roads are not for the feint hearted!
We heartedly recommend this property for those who like a beautiful, rugged landscape and a real welcoming house.
Great walks are all around too as well as golf and sea views that are pure magic.
This house is really a dream. It has a luxurious interiour and a beautiful, tranquil surrounding where you can watch seals and birds and can relaxe very well. Therefore we enjoyed our stay very much and if possible we will come again. The housekeeper and the owner are very friendly and helpful, and therefore we only can recommend this wonderful house.
We have just spent 10 days in the Hollies, not withstanding the fact that we probably experienced the best 10 days weather-wise in a decade in Ireland, this house is a perfect base for visiting the breathtaking surrounding area of Kenmare. In fact it felt more like having been lent a lovely house by good friends than a rental. It is spacious and extremely comfortable, good beds, linens, comfortable couches, an extremely well equipped kitchen if you are into cooking , which I am. There is attention to detail, it is very tastefully decorated, from the living areas looking out on the beautiful view to the modern practical bathrooms. There is an air of generousity and a feeling that alot of care went into even the smallest details. Good books neatly piled, board games, comfy cushions and the fireplace made us "nearly" regret the astounding weather which pushed us outside to sit having breakfast or dinner on the patio, speechless and sighing at the beauty of it all.
If you are looking for an amazing Irish getaway, then this is the house for you. The location is breathtaking, the air is fresh, and the only noise you will hear is passing by boats and waves lapping against the shore. This was my fist trip to Ireland and staying at the house definitely enhanced the experience tenfold. It was so nice to come back from a day of sightseeing, hiking, or golfing and be able to fully relax in such a comfortable setting. The drives in both directions were amazing. I was only there for a week, but I really feel like I got to see so much: golf at Waterville, hiking different spots on the Ring of Kerry, shopping in Kenmare, and having a sunset dinner in Baltimore. All in all, the location was perfect for what I was hoping to see in Ireland.
A wonderful home in a great location. Very peaceful and scenic spot. Home is fully modern and nicely designed. Lots of room with a great master suite and three additional comfortable bedrooms. Good access point on the Ring of Kerry for exploration of the region. All concerns addressed promptly and politely. Kenmare restaurants, Park Hotel and Sneem Lodge are all close by and worth visiting. Would love to return someday.
If you are looking for peace and quiet and a world class basecamp from which to simply explore all that is SW Ireland you will find it here. The adventure to the place from Shannon airport is terrific and easy to navigate and once there as you cross onto the island it is like taking a step back in time. House is appointed beautifully and owners were terrific in terms of communication and help. We will likely return and thank the owners for building and sharing this amazing home and views!
The Hollies is a great rental for a group of three or four couples. Our group of eight had the best time just sitting around the large table in the eating area admiring the great views and sharing our day's activities. The Hollies is close to both the village of Sneem and the larger city of Kenmare. The owners were very helpful concerning things to see and do in the area and the best places to eat. Even the housekeeper was charming. You can't go wrong renting this beautiful vacation home.
