summer get away

  • 5 of 5

We rented for 2 weeks. The property is clean and well stocked. Our dogs could wander without bothering anyone. Betsy was easy to reach if we needed anything. The view is awsome and there is water access for kayaks should you choose to bring them. The property is close to Bar Harbor while just a few miles from Ellsworth. When the sun shines and it is hot outside, the upstairs and porch get very warm. Window blinds would be great. I would definitely rent this again.

views are fabulous and house has everything

  • 5 of 5

My first trip to Maine and I will definitely be going back . what a great place for a get away. The house has drop dead gorgeous views of the water, a deck you can sit on and enjoy the views with a cup of coffee at sunrise or glass of wine at sunset. Loved being so close to the water it was easy access for my kayak I will definitely rent again

Ok, but not very cozy

  • 3 of 5

We rented this cottage for our 5th vacation in the area. The view is as nice as the other reviewers state. The kitchen is very nice. But the photos do not show you the main room furnished. We think this is because it is not comfortably furnished and definitely not cozy. We were VERY disappointed in the interior choices for seating. One old (beat-up) wooden table with six wooden chairs and a wicker love seat and chair. Nothing comfortable to sit in. No rug. It felt barren and uninviting. We were on the porch a lot, but in cooler or wet weather, there was no place to go on this level. The upstairs level has two lazy-boy chairs, but it was hot up there. Before renting, ask for a picture of the main level furnished and then decide. In spite of a nice bed, brand-new home with wash/dryer, and a new kitchen, we won't be coming back.

A Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Recently stayed with a party of six and one dog. With 2 bedrooms and a spacious loft everyone had plenty of room. The view from the back deck is exceptional. Approximately 30 minutes from Acadia National Park but away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. We definitely look forward to coming back again!

Great time, great place!

  • 5 of 5

When booking this vacation I was looking for nice place with a great view, this place covers both! Betsy (the owner) has really done a remarkable job with this property, and it was worth every penny to be able to call her place "my home" for a week. I can not recommend this place enough to anyone looking for a vacation rental in the Ellsworth / Bar Harbor area. This is the place you want to stay.

A Very Nice Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This is a very nice, clean, well appointed cottage with a great view of the bay. Betsy, the owner, goes above and beyond to insure your stay is a good one. One gets a cottage experience with modern amenities such as wireless wifi, DVD player, and a new washer/dryer, just to name a few. The property is as advertised. The area does have various dining choices, (everything from pizza joints to lobster shacks to a few traditional restaurants), and Bar Harbor and Acadia N.P. are but a short drive away. (A nearby "Super Walmart" is very convenient as well). Overall, an A+ cottage to stay in. We would stay there again without hesitation.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of Union River Bay. Spend your day reading, skipping rocks, kayaking or swimming.

If you choose to take a day trip, you might like to head to the town of Blue Hill to hike the mountain and pick blueberries or have lunch at the waterfront park. Kids love to jump off the big rock at high tide! Bar Harbor is fun for dinner and shopping. You may want to catch the ferry to Nova Scotia for the day. Be sure to check Reel Pizza for pizza and a movie in a living room type atmosphere. The community band plays often in the gazebo. Bring a lawn chair, sit back and listen to the band favorites or just people watch. Sunsets on Cadillac Mountain, in Acadia, are a Maine summer tradition. Bring your favorite tailgating food and park at the Blue Hill Point for the best view. Back at the house, enjoy the sunset as you stroll along the rocky beach, just steps from the house! If total relaxation is what you are looking for, this is the place to be.
