We had a perfect week at Crackerbox! The house was beautiful and immaculate. The kitchen had everything we needed. Jeff was responsive and easy to work with. We definitely plan to return.
First time ever in 20+ years we felt like we had a vacation where we didn't need another to recoup. 10 people in one beautiful home ages 9-48, all happy together. Eating dinner every night at the big round table. Fishing off the dock. Kayaking. Swimming. Early morning walks in the private neighborhood. Rented a boat for the day and went to Pirates Cove. Lunch at Lulu's. Shopping at the Wharf. Comfortable beds. Plenty of utensils, dishes & towels. Screened in porch for the few rainy moments. We will definitely return!
Fantastic location and nice property. Perfect for a relaxing family vacation away from the crowds.
Our experience on Ono Island and at this home was 5 stars. There were 13 of us with 6 children ages 6 and younger. The beach with it's extensive sand bar and the marsh setting with all of its wildlife were perfect for young and old alike. The screened in porch on the main level is perfect for evenings spent outside. This location is so near Orange Beach and all of its action but you would never know it because this house setting is so peaceful and quiet. There are 2 Publix grocery stores nearby and plenty of other shops to purchase anything that might be needed. My husband and I went to Blalock Seafood 4 times during our stay because their selection of seafood was very fresh and they were helpful with their suggestions. We enjoyed the house and property so that most of my family only ventured out to go to the zoo which we really enjoyed. We particularly liked the living areas, one on each level, because, for example, at nap time, we were able to put the older girls in the top living room to rest and to watch a movie while one of the toddlers slept in the bedroom on the ground floor without being disturbed. The house is beautifully decorated and the amenities were as described. We ate all of our meals here so having a well stocked kitchen was important. I rated our overall experience 4 stars because of some issues that we encountered. Once remedied it would definitely be a 5 star stay. Specifically we encountered sugar ants, a dryer that was not drying properly, kayaks that must have been locked unbeknownst to the owner by previous guests, and the grill was not working properly. The owner was extremely responsive and tried to remedy everything he could. For example, he sent out maintenance people to clean and inspect the dryer and tried to get an exterminator out during our stay. Lastly, the house was not as clean as we would have liked it to be. Some examples are that the dining room rug was very stained and the drawers in the downstairs bathroom were too dirty to want to put your items into them. Two things would have helped us: cleaning supplies so we could clean as needed and an enclosed outdoor shower. We would have bathed all of the children outside plus probably ourselves so that we wouldn't have tracked any sand into the house. Ono Island is a very special place and the Crackerbox is a large well-equipped home. We would stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay on Ono Island and the Crackerbox. The pictures did the house justice. It is a very beautiful and spacious house. It is beautifully decorated and very clean. We had to call the owner many times before our visit, and the owner was very informative and accommodating to us. I would definitely recommend this house to others.
