NO ORDINARY ADDRESS
Built in the 1840's and newly renovated, this 2-level, 4-bedroom Italianate-style townhome apartment reflects the Federal majesty of the mid-1800's, and the individualistic expressions of post-Civil war Gettysburg. Street-facing windows on the main level are accentuated with stained glass, creating a feel-good rainbow effect in the common area parlor and dining room.
Bedrooms on the first and second level pay tribute to the owners' family heritage. Take your pick from the Charles, Chastang, Earley or Hughes bedrooms. Like the people whose names they bear, each room has its own personality and ambiance.
A major upgrade is the amazing chandelier-adorned spa bath that lets you know this is no ordinary Gettysburg address... This is The LaVerne Guesthouse.
Located one-half block from Lincoln Square and three doors down from the historic Wills House, The LaVerne is within walking distance to dining, antiquing, shopping, and the theater. This guesthouse is appointed with all the basics you need to feel at home, including kitchenware, towels, linens and paper products.
The property will be cleaned and ready for your arrival; however, there is no daily housekeeping service. Therefore, we respectfully request that you maintain the home in a neat and orderly fashion, wash any dishes used in the kitchen and spot clean when necessary.
This is our second home in Gettysburg. We welcome only guests who are willing to respect our property as if it is their own. This is why we will rent only to families or couples. Please do not inquire if you intend to use our home as a “party pad.” We have a property manager who will respond immediately if you ever need assistance during your stay.

Wonderful time and couldn't have asked for the best fireworks view for New Years right from the living, dining and two bedrooms. It was perfect for some of our family who wanted to stay in doors and the rest of us just walked out the front door. The house is big for being only on the second and third floor (owner's daughter owns salon on first floor). The kitchen was small, but it was just fine for preparing dinner and breakfast. The rooms on the 3rd floor do get hot, while the 2nd floor remains cooler. The window do not open and there are no curtains or shades in the two rooms facing the front street, so the light woke all of us early. Darker curtains would be recommended. I did not feel the house was that clean for the cost of cleaning service and the kitchen lacked trash bags. The back entrance is a bit complicated with steps and dodging workers from the Chinese Restaurant next door. There are lots of steps inside and out, so not recommended for toddlers who have not mastered the steps yet or elderly adults. Other than that, we had a fabulous New Years walking to all the shops, history museums, theater, restaurants, etc. Did not need our cars at all except for when we went to Ski Liberty which was a short 20 min drive. Thanks for a great time.
Another great stay at the LaVerne for Remembrance Weekend in Gettysburg.
Super clean and the absolute best location, would recommend to everyone!
This was a fantastic place for me and my group of friends who were in town for Halloween festivities and to see the battlefield:
The location was perfect and the house was beautiful. Highly recommended!
We had the pleasure of renting The LaVerne House for a 3 night stay in October 2016. The home is clean and well equipped for comfort and needs. All 7 of us (adults ages 50's and 60's) enjoyed the accommodations. When traveling our group appreciates the ability to relax together in a home rather then separated in hotel rooms. It allowed us to eat meals in a few times while also being a good value per couple per night.
The location is ideal for visiting the historic Gettysburg sites, multiple restaurants and various shops. If you were inclined, you would even be able to do all of your site seeing on foot. I would recommend this property to Gettysburg visitors.
Perfect location and great venue with excellent amenities. Perfect back deck and had great communication with owner that made it very easy. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great Gburg experience. Five stars
Great location in downtown Gettysburg. The price was more than the VRBO advertised "average night stay" of 283 per night. Really nice place and great views of York Street from the living room and dining room.
Gettysburg National Military Park, Majestic Theater, Hershey Park (50 miles), Catoctin Zoo, Ski Liberty, Boyd's Bear Country, New Oxford 'Antique Capital', Harley Davidson Plant in York PA (30 miles), Washington DC (60 miles), Lancaster Pennsylvania Dutch Country (45 miles)
