Lovingly cared for cozy cottage overlooking Lake Michigan in small quiet beach association. Private beach. Near Silver Lake lighthouse
I am part of a large family with deep roots in Western Michigan. From the time I was 6 months old, my family has been vacationing in the area -- not just our immediate family, but extended family as well. I am fully versed in the surrounding rental properties, since my own parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins have been renting here since the 1960's and have rented countless places nearby.
Comparatively speaking, this place is a bargain! You have a clear view of the lake and also of the beautiful lighthouse: this cottage is only three doors south of the lighthouse, so you wake up in the morning looking out the north bedroom window directly at its elegant beauty. Sunsets are gorgeous from the huge upper deck front porch, as are quiet cool mornings reading in the morning shade there.
This cottage is well-equipped and very comfortable. It sleeps 10, with two bathrooms. There is also a lower porch underneath the upper deck which has a large picnic table for eating evening meals together in the shade of the upper porch. There is a lovely path down to the beach and a private stake of beach which is clearly marked, for whomever is renting the cottage. There is a spot marked out for campfires where you can make S'mores, roast marshmallows and hot dogs, and sing folk songs. The washer/dryer on site is a huge plus!
I love bringing my children here and doing all the same things every summer, which they look forward to: walks through the ankle deep channel, walks to the lighthouse, going up the lighthouse for the amazing panoramic view, horsebackriding at Rainbow Ranch, Mac Woods Dune Scooter rides, Craig's Cruisers go-carts, mini-golf, the little souvenir shops in Silver Lake, a day here or there on Silver Lake renting ski-doos, a quick trip to the quaint little town of Pentwater, and more.
Diana makes sure the place is clean and well stocked, and has always been available to us to answer questions. She even calls us personally to let us know when her calendar starts filling up, if she hasn't heard from us yet: we have a long history of not just a good working relationship, but a friendly and trustworthy one. Do yourself a favor and don't hesitate to rent from Diana. I'm reading some other positive reviews on here that line up perfectly with my family's experience. Diana's place gives you the "cottage feel" you want when you are at a beach house, while still offering all the comforts that non-campers like myself are looking for. Absolutely five stars.
I can't say enough positive things about this cottage and its location. It is absolutely perfect with endless views of the lake and the most amazing front porch on which to relax in utter tranquility.
Our family has rented Diana's cottage nine summers and counting. Diana has been a pleasure to work with. She is always quick to respond to our inquiries about booking her lovely cottage. She is also very helpful if we have a question.
The cottage is perfect for a family or group who wants fabulous lake views, porch time, quick beach access, and a comfortable home. Our annual week always flies by too fast, so when we can, we book 2 weeks! There are lots of fun things to do in Silver Lake and nearby towns, but frankly, we prefer to stay put on the beach and in the cottage. The cottage is a short walk to the Little Point Sable Lighthouse and a lovely channel that connects Silver Lake to Lake Michigan. It takes less than 5 minutes to walk to the beach. While this cottage is "second row" you have a perfect view of the lake from the front porch.
My family has been renting cottages in the Silver Lake area since 1954. We find this cottage to be the most affordable option with Lake Views and such close access to the beach. It feels like our second home!
We rented this cottage for our family for 2 weeks. The view & setting is absolutely stunning. We saw some of the prettiest sunsets we have ever seen. You can walk an easy path to the beach or through the dunes to the lighthouse park. From the deck, you feel the breeze & view the beauty of Lake Michigan. Our kids & grandkids loved the sandy beach & water. The cottage has everything you need and more. It's great having a washer & dryer and the kitchen is well-stocked. It is clean & well-furnished. Diana was easy to work with & answered all of our questions. You won't be disappointed with one of the most beautiful places in Michigan!
