This finger lakes home has spectacular views of Owasco Lake from every room!! Because the house is situated on a point, there are breathtaking views of the north end, south end and east side of the lake. One of the greatest aspects of this home is the level lake frontage, which is pretty hard to come by in the finger lakes area. There are no stairs to worry about to get to the water or the house, so bring the grandparents and the kids! The spacious deck on the house is literally two or three feet from the water's edge and the 125' of beachfront gives you plenty of privacy. A lovely enclosed porch runs the whole length of the house. There is a nice grassy side yard for games/play and a privacy fence surrounds most of the lawn without blocking the view.
With approximately 2000 square feet, the house has a very comfortable feel to it. The large living room which also runs the length of the house on the lake side has beautiful hardwood floors and a stone fireplace. French doors with sidelights open onto the porch. There is a formal dining room that seats 10 but there is also a dining table in the porch, along with a wicker seating area. The entire house is filled with classy antiques, beautiful quilts and linens, and is very tastefully decorated.
There are four bedrooms and two full bathrooms with tubs/showers. A bathroom is on each floor. The large bedrooms has a queen bed, two other bedrooms each have a double bed and the 4th bedroom has two twin beds. Two 'rollaway' beds (like cots with mattresses that are portable) can fit in any of the bedrooms. All of the bedrooms have new berber carpet. The fully stocked kitchen is large (approximately 20'x14') and has just been totally remodeled in 2011! It now has hardwood flooring to match the rest of the home, new gorgeous granite countertops with plenty of counter space, new light maple cabinetry, plenty of recessed lighting, and all stainless steel appliances including a gas range, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Our gourmet kitchen also has basic appliances such as a toaster, blender, garbage disposal, mixer, and coffeemaker. All kinds of cookware, dishes, utensils, and gadgets are provided. The house is on public water and sewer, has cable TV and a DVD player, and also high speed wireless internet. A first floor laundry is also a plus! Linens are provided, but are not your responsibility to wash for the next tenants.
Central air is key for sleeping on those sultry summer nights. Many folks enjoy sitting on the porch at night with the windows open (have screens) and listening to the relaxing sounds of the water. If you like daytime water activities, it is only about 3 feet deep near the end of the dock and just gradually gets deeper further out. It's a great spot for kids and adults alike. Weeds are scarce in this part of the lake, which results in a much more enjoyable swim! The large deck has comfortable seating with a table and some lounge furniture along with a gas grill and a charcoal grill. If you don't have a boat, one can be rented at one of the three different nearby marinas and kept at the dock. A rowboat is included in the rental price however. There is also a campfire pit located at the edge of the lawn/beach for roasting marsh mellows with the family!
We are teachers in the local area and live nearby. Since we have summer off we are easy to get in touch with to attend to any needs you may have.
Christine Izzo purchased this house in 2003
We love the level beach and fenced in yard for the kids! And wow what views!! The water is nice and clean here with minimal weeds and a gradual walk out. We also love the enclosed screened in porch. Feels like you are on an island in there! It's also very convenient in that it is only a couple minutes drive to the city of Auburn.
Spectacular views, enclosed porch, central air, new kitchen but the character of a historic home.
We enjoyed ourselves immensely. The house is well laid out with all the comforts we could want, especially the modern kitchen. It provided the perfect getaway.
We had travelled from Australia to attend a wedding in Auburn. This home was perfect for location, the lake at the door step and the amenities provided. The kitchen is very well equipped with appliances. We liked the fridge/filtered water and ice maker. It was still a little chilly but the home was central heated. I enjoyed a number of mornings having breakfast in the back porch with the sun shining off the water into the room. Our family, Son, daughter in law, 2 grandkids and us had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this home to anyone wishing to stay in the Finger Lakes region.
we had such a great week. perfect weather. The house was nice with a great updated kitchen. bedrooms nice, back porch and deck were great. We rented a boat for the week and were able to keep it docked at the house and the water is clean for swimming and the seaweed was not bad at all. The house was so close to the water with lots of visiting ducks. We think we saw an Eagle which was very cool and lots of other birds. The owners were very helpful also. Thanks for the great stay!
it was a great stay. Clean, cozy comfortable... The kitchen was the right size and new. Bedrooms were great. the common rooms nice and comfortable. The indoor porch and outside deck was the place to rest. Less than 3 miles to Emerson Park and Auburn. If we ever rent again on Owasco lake this place we wii check out 1st.
My family had an amazing time at this beautiful house on the lake! From the moment we stepped inside everything was so comfortable and cozy. Everything we needed was available to us. The house is beautifully decorated and the views of the lake are breathtaking. Everyone in the family enjoyed it...from our toddlers to their great grandmother! We were lucky enough to make many memories here and can't wait until we can return!
Owasco Lake is in the heart of the finger lakes region. Our home is about 5 minutes from the city of Auburn, 30 minutes to Syracuse, 25 minutes to Seneca Falls or Waterloo Outlet Mall, 10 minutes to Skaneateles, and 40 minutes to Ithaca.
In the Auburn area, you can take a wine tour, see live theater at the Merry Go Round Playhouse, go to great restaurants, play some rounds of golf at the many nearby courses, and visit the Bass Pro Shops at the Finger Lakes Mall. You can take a day trip to the quaint historic village of Skaneateles, visit Fillmore Glen State Park in Moravia and hike alongside the waterfalls and swim in the natural spring-fed swimming hole, or travel to Ithaca and hike Taughannock Falls or Buttermilk Falls.
Song Mountain is about 40 minutes away for skiing and there is also a brand new indoor waterpark there!
Best of all, just hang at the private beach at the house and swim in the clean water or take out the rowboat and catch yourself some fish. The fishing is excellent!
