We had a really nice time in this comfortable house. My husband and I love the area, and it's very nice being right on the lake. Our grandchildren came up for the weekend, and hated to leave. They loved taking out the canoe, going to a very pleasant kind of children's beach, etc. And it's was nice having a small store within walking distance where you can get a newspaper, and a very good breakfast.
We had a terrific time here. Four adults and two toddlers. The house suited our need perfectly. Comfortable and well stocked with essentials with even toys and games for the kids. The location on the lake can’t be beat. Fishing at the dock was a favorite way to start the day for our grandchildren, boating and swimming for the rest of us. All in all a great stay.
Really nice spot for a lake getaway with family and friends. The lake is lovely, with a sandy bottom and trees all around. We spent the bulk of the time out in the kayaks and paddleboat. The lake is small enough that an inexperienced kayaker can go around the whole thing without getting too tired. It's really pretty, particularly on a sunny day. The house is nice and looks just as it's pictured, with functional bedrooms and a nicely equipped kitchen. The only thing we didn't love--and it really doesn't matter because you want to spend all the time you can outside--is the living room. We found the couch and other living room seating to be pretty uncomfortable, and there's an older TV (no HDMI inputs for hooking up to a Roku or Chromestick, though there is a DVD/VCR combo). Again, this only really mattered on an afternoon where it was raining and we wanted to burrow in, and it was still fine. Otherwise, if you're not swimming or boating, it's great to lay on the dock or in the hammock and read. We also played a lot of games.
There's a nice grocery story in Lee about 20 minutes away--a beautiful drive. We also went to Great Barrington to wander around town one day and to see a movie; that's about 35-40 minutes away.
The owner is a delight to communicate with--very helpful and responsive. We followed her recommendation to see a free show at Jacob's Pillow and had a blast. Our four year old loved it; he enjoyed climbing on the rocks with other kids while we watched the 35 minute performance. It's a gorgeous spot. Thanks for supplying us with a great vacation spot!
Great spot for a family getaway. My son was happy to play all day in the lake, fish, kayak, and explore the trails around the lake. The cabin has a well-stocked kitchen and outdoor gas grill. If you don't want to cook, there is a family-owned country store a short walk away that serves homemade food all day. We took advantage of free dance performances at Jacob's Pillow, picnicked on the lawn at Tanglewood, visited the Norman Rockwell Museum, and shopped in Stockbridge. The owners had great suggestions for activities, area shopping, and area restaurants. The cabin is very family-friendly, the photos on the site were very representative. Comfortable living area and nice bedrooms and baths. The lake is great for swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. No fast boats allowed. The gravel roads that surround the lake are great for walking, and the Appalachian Trail is only a few miles away. Can't wait to go back.
A charming house on a beautiful, quiet lake. I was able to kayak without motor boat wakes, swim, run and hike without interference. The corner store is an easy walk for a coffee, sandwich, supplies or the Sunday paper. It was a quick drive down the hill to the Appalachian trail and the shops in Lee.
Everything was in place here to make our week totally relaxing and peaceful.
The owners gave us directions to the nearest large store, and in the house itself they provided pretty much everything you could think of from kitchen utensils to kayaks. Apart from a couple of trips out (we went to a great concert at Tanglewood) we spent the whole time boating, swimming, reading and relaxing - a perfect place to recharge the batteries, just as idyllic as it looks in the photos.
If it's tranquillity you're after, I thoroughly recommend it.
