This house belongs to property manager Dorothy's mother. Nell is 90 years old, and is a true Southern Belle! We are blessed to be able to help with the cost of her elder care by renting her beautiful home out. When not occupied by renters, any one of Nell's devoted daughters or other family members are there to enjoy all that it has to offer. Due to a recent death in the family, we are only renting this year for 14 or more days.
Our property is in the most incredible location. It is also unique in that the original (middle) section of the home was built in the 1920's and is an historic Sears & Roebuck 'kit' home (which, unlike pre-fabs today, was the highest quality possible at the time.)
Very private (when in the house you'll feel like you're in a country setting with no neighbors at all) yet you'll be within walking distance to the great town of Onancock. You'll have deep water docking, with easy access to the Bay and will be staying in a beautiful home that is comfortably casual. Plus, you cannot beat the views and sunsets!
We spent a week here for a family reunion. Dorothy is such a pleasure to deal with when booking. The house is modern and beautiful and has everything one could want. The sunsets are to die for, and no matter what we were doing, whether antiquing in town or riding bikes or kayaking, we ALWAYS made sure we were back in time to set up some chairs and enjoy the peace and tranquility while enjoying the most spectacular sunsets anywhere. As repeat customers, we always love returning to Onancock and this wonderful home away from home!
A beautiful house and beautiful location for 3 generations to stay. The home was so spacious we never felt like we were on top of one another. The house was on a quite street end and we didn't even feel like we has neighbors. We would ride our bikes into town every morning for fresh donuts at the Corner Bakery and spend the afternoons crabbing, fishing, or kayaking. The home itself was spotless and fully stocked. Dorothy took care of every detail in her contract and instructions (trash day, leaving procedures, ect.). We were in a central location on the eastern shores for day trips to Chincoteague and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnels. Thank you Dorothy for opening your home to us and allowing us to make memories that will last a lifetime.
Our family just returned from a great vacation at this property. The picture of the waterfront is exactly what it shows, a gorgeous location with an outstanding view. The sunsets are amazing. Our family enjoyed crabbing from the dock --then we steamed them and ate right out on the dock by the water. It was a great place to put out our kayaks, which we did in early mornings and at sunset. The home is spacious, and gave our family plenty of opportunities to cook together in the great kitchen as well as have quiet spaces to read, take a nap, or just gaze out at the amazing view. The quaint town of Onancock has plenty of antique shops and galleries to browse through. Don't miss the Corner Bakery -- the donuts are so incredible we got a dozen every day we were there! Ice cream at The Scoop is a must. The owner of this home, Dorothy, was extremely helpful -- such a great host and so kind.
The house was perfect for our family of 8. It was very clean and had everything we needed. We brought two boats and the dock worked out great for us and there was plenty of room to park the trailers. We had fun crabbing and fishing from the river and at the end of the day watching the great sunsets. Dorothy was a great host and we hope to stay there again someday.
Amazing location, close to town with all the amenities you want. Fully stocked kitchen, all bedrooms have views, a screened in porch and plenty of room for dining. This house is for people who like to spend their time on the water. A warm home that is clean and easy to use. All questions were promptly answered. Walk, kayak or boat to restaurants and town. The marina is around the corner. Located on a quiet dead end street.
A small group of friends recently rented this property for a getaway weekend. It was extremely comfortable and well-maintained. The views were just lovely, and we enjoyed the wonderful birds and sunsets! There was plenty of space, and it was a nice balance of being close to town but with the wonderful quiet waterfront setting. Very nice - thank you Dorothy!
