About Daria Carver Paterson
Wondering why we named our guest quarters… Banana? Daria’s family home for many years was on the island of St. Thomas, in the American Virgins. When you live in the Caribbean, you most often name your home for what may be nearby. Our entrance is flanked by banana trees, which grow approximately 8’ per year. Tom is a lifelong horticulturalist and garden designer who is constantly working on our gardens. While you are here remember…life is short, so please take time to smell the roses! Daria is a commercial artist and has had her own advertising company for many years, first in N.Y. then in the Virgin Islands and now here in Beaufort… and works from her home office. She is also the proud owner of the Discovery Maps of Beaufort and is heavily involved in the tourism business.

Why Daria Carver Paterson chose Beaufort
We live in Beaufort, SC a great traveler destination! We fell in love with our gas lighted, water view property. Our home is reminiscent of the antebellum style of historical architecture of the pre-cival war times, with its double verandas and metal roofs. Being able to take a break from work, (home office), and walk out to the dock to view dolphins..... well, it sold us! So, it was at the request of many of our friends and clients to create private guest quarters on our property with a Caribbean flair to accommodate them as well as their friends and family. We know Caribbean style and we know gardens! Add to that ... our hospitality and we've created another great place for you to visit.
What makes this Apartment unique
Our area is peaceful, quiet and very, very, VERY special. You won't hear cars starting up in the morning, as you would if you stayed at a hotel. You won't hear loud talking or drunks outside your retreat.....We are near to all Beaufort has to offer–and yet... we are tucked in to a very private place, far away from the rest of the world, for us to enjoy home and gardens and the island life of this historic area! Come and book with us... and then you'll understand! We are here to help you enjoy your sojourn. Then maybe, just maybe... you will come back and retire here, too!

Great location for MC Graduation at Paris Island. Owners are very nice, AC was on the blink first night but was fixed the next night. Nice area!
We had to book a last-minute trip to Port Royal SC and our usual place was unavailable. We had seen Banana on line a year or so earlier and thought it looked whimsical and fun so why not? As soon as we talked to the owners we knew we found the right place. We arrived late at night but they met us to show us what's what. We went to bed and woke up in the morning to see that it was perfect! Everything we needed was there, we immediately felt at home. A very cool, laid back Carribean vibe quickly settled in and we were instantly on vacation even though we were only there two days! We now count the owners among our SC friends whether they like it or not! See you soon!
Banana Guest House
The Banana guest house is a charming space on lovely grounds. The house is close to the river and has water views. It was so lovely to be able to walk out on the dock and watch the birds and the beautiful landscape. The house has beautiful artwork and many fun and whimsical touches. It truly feels like a magical getaway place. The house is well stocked and comfortable in every way.
Daria and Tom were great hosts. They clearly go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable and well taken care of. They are a lot of fun as well and we enjoyed them thoroughly.
We highly recommend Banana for a relaxing time away in lovely surroundings.
Cute and clean. Great hosts. Pictures don’t do justice
Loved this place and would stay again. Daria and Tom were warm and inviting - very friendly and shared great ideas about local sites and restaurants. We were only in Beaufort for 2 nights and feel we need to return to visit Hunting Island again and see more of historic Beaufort. Two great restaurants for casual dining were Johnson’s Creek and Dockside both suggested by Tom. We always appreciate it when we step into a warm clean welcoming rental which clearly shows prideful ownership. Thanks for having us Daria and Tom.
Banana Cabana was just as pictured, very cozy & comfy! Great location & Daria & Tom could not have been nicer! Thanks for a wonderful stay in your “cabana” - Gail & Dave
Great location for a quiet beach stay
This was a great place to stay and Tom and Daria were top notch host! Walking distance to community pier that we saw dolphins in the inlet the first night would definitely stay here again
Oh Good! Isn't it fun to see all the nature and beauty that abounds in our location? Banana is such a special retreat and we are glad you enjoyed your getaway!
