Find the serenity you've been waiting for-Casa de Baja-ja is a quaint home. Sleeps up to 4 adults/2 children. The master has a king bed, and the living room can be a sleeping area for children or others. It is set up with queen size hide-a-bed, double futon and corner nook twin cushion.
This special place lies within the protected National Marine Reserve and has one of the few living corral reefs in North America. If your timing is right, you may witness dozens of endangered sea turtles making their way home to the ocean for the first time; view the sunrise over the ocean. Colorful garden & wild birds surround the home. Las Barracas Bay is quiet, and a popular beach to enjoy kayaking, or wind surfing. Minutes from Cabo Pulmo. LAST MINUTE VISITS ARE WELCOMED!
The house was clean and quite nice for us. We were able to spend the mornings walking on the beach. The caretaker was very helpful and friendly. We are already looking forward to coming back here next spring!
My son's home near Cabo Pulmo is the perfect retreat. My friend and I recently spent 10 delightful days there. Early morning coffee, then out to the palapa for bird watching, a sunrise,
walking the beach then off for a day of sunning, surfing, reading, art work and relaxing.
Watching the waves roll in. We dined out every night at one of the three restaurants in town.
Drove home enjoying a beautiful sunset. Their lovely, beautifully furnished home met all of our needs. No internet, quiet .....Their property manager was wonderful. We were well cared for. Always felt safe.
April was a good month to be there. I hope to return next April.
This spacious home is comfortable and allowed my friend and I to completely relax and enjoy beach walking, bird watching, and swimming in the bay. Although we did little cooking, the kitchen was well-equipped with everything one could possibly need, including a blender for making margaritas! The large palapa-covered porch became our living room. From there we spent mornings watching a variety of birds come to the bird feeders and especially enjoyed seeing the sun rise over the water when we woke early. Loved the shower, which felt like an outdoor one. The property is quiet and feels secluded even though it's just a few minutes drive from the village and three great restaurants. The property manager was enormously helpful. Always answered our calls promptly and even helped us by bringing gas for our truck when we inadvertently ran low. He speaks excellent English and gave us a lot of useful information about the other beaches and restaurants. I'm looking forward to going back again.
The location is ideal and the owner has strong ties to the community- it turned out our dive master had even lived with her in the states for a while when he was a boy. The onsite property manager answered his phone at all hours and was prompt to help or just stop by, and we felt completely safe the entire time. Property comes equipped with beautiful views, easy ocean access, hooded orioles, cardinals, cactus wrens, jackrabbits, caracaras etc.- we even saw a whale even though it wasn't supposed to be the right season (probably the effects of el nino).
If you want a party scene, please stay away from Cabo Pulmo (and anyway you won't enjoy it), but if you want an amazing natural retreat with a well-protected coral reef, beautiful natural scenery, and a lovely community with a healthy mix of Mexicans and foreigners, it's hard to imagine there is anywhere better to go in all of Mexico.
The house is well maintained and was idyllic in that it was set off on a hill overlooking the bay. Pulmo is a short 2 minute ride down the road and it's small itself (you can drive through it in about 20 seconds) but it was such a pleasure being right on the outskirts with just the sound of waves. The caretaker Alex is a pleasure to deal with and always available. The house is well gardened, and combined with the stone/tile interior, provides a nice relief from the hot Mexico sun. We wanted a house to ourselves so that we could cook some meals, sit on the patio at night, build an outdoor fire, play some cards and enjoy super clear views of the stars without any competing light . . .it all worked out well.
If you are looking for pure serenity, abundance beauty, colorful wild birds, sea breezes, star gazing and an incredible house that offers the ambiance to relax and reflect on life, Casa de Bajaja is ideal. The house is perched on a small hill that provides unobstructed views of Las Barracas Bay within the Sea of Cortez. The beach across from the house is lovely and you will pretty much have it to yourself. I recommend sleeping outside on the wonderful cots that are native to this region. Cabo Pulmo was a short drive and Mermaid Beach is just a few minutes past Cabo Pulmo, which offers some of the best snorkeling and has kayak rentals. The beauty of the surrounding area where the casa is provides an incredible natural setting of mountains, desert and aquamarine blue of the sea in a 360 degree view. Because the house was so amazing we cooked in every day and enjoyed every minute of our time there. Waking up to the sun rise over the Sea of Cortez is breathtaking.
Take a tour to the Natural hot springs and water falls right outside of Santiago- just 45 minutes away!
