Overview

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

The fully furnished year round house sits with a beautiful view of Pawtuckaway Lake and Pawtuckaway State Park.

The house is open concept with two bedrooms, kitchen, living room with gas fireplace, TV, and bathroom with shower. One of the bedrooms is on the first floor and the other bedroom is on a second floor loft.

Outside the house is a large deck and a patio area with a set of tables and chairs, adirondeck chairs for relaxing, a dock setup for a boat hookup. A small beach sits next to the dock for swimming in the lake, which according to a NHDES source is reportedly the 5th cleanest lake in New Hampshire. Three kayaks (one two-person and two one-person types) are available at the house for free use. Kayaking is great around the lake as there are many small islands to visit and wildlife to see. There are 10-15 bass fishing tournaments a year at the lake. The scenery is very tranquil as the house sits on the lake directly across from the 5,600-acre Pawtuckaway State Park. The 1,000-acre lake is very attractive with loons, small islands to explore, excellent swimming, 3-6 miles long, 50 feet at its deepest point, and very good for fishing of small and large mouth bass, pickerel, etc. Half of the lake is bordered by Pawtuckaway State Park, which has miles and dozens of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing in the summer and snowmobiling, ATV-ing, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing activities in the winter. The house is heated for continuous year round use through the fall, winter, and spring.

The house is 10 minutes from exit 5 off Route 101 and 30-40 minutes from the seacoast, Portsmouth, Manchester, or the Massachusetts border.

There are several restaurants (Tuckaway Tavern, Holy Grail, Pizza by George, Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, and others), a large Hannaford supermarket, pharmacies, bowling alley, gas stations, post office, and other stores and amenities within 10-20 minutes of the house.

Most pets are allowed. Nightly, weekday, or weekend rates are available in the fall, winter and spring. $100 nightly with minimum 2 ight stay from Mid October to late May; $850/week in June and September, $1300/week in July and August.

Comfortable and Beautiful

We have stayed multiple times at this lakehouse. It is very comfortable and the views are beautiful from inside the house to the outside on the decks! Just peaceful, gorgeous views sitting in the mornings having coffee on the deck. Thanks Stephan for your hospitality!!!

Adorable lake house!

  • 5 of 5

I fell in love with this adorable lake house! It is even better in person. Four of us stayed at the house for a week and wished we could stay longer. The kayaks are in a great location and so easy to hop right into the water; we used them multiple times each day! We spent lots of time lounging on the dock, fishing and just enjoying the scenery. The house is cozy - our friends that stayed up in the loft bumped their heads a few times, but that wasn't a big deal. Waking up in this house is magical: many of the windows face east, so the whole house lights up in the morning with the sun reflecting off the water. The little nook off the dining area was a favorite spot for morning reading and afternoon naps. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are a lot of stairs to get to the house, so pack accordingly! The kitchen was well-equipped and we used the grill almost nightly. Stephan was very responsive and helpful throughout the booking and check-in process. We hope to come back again next year!

This cottage is absolutely adorable! The dock and outdoor patio are very large and perfect for an evening BBQ. The kayaks were perfect for exploring the large lake. We had a wonderful time!

The perfect place to get away!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful lake house! I was fortunate enough to spend my vacation at this adorable little cottage during peak fall foliage this year. What a charmer! Though I'll freely admit to not spending a lot of daytime hours there- there's SO MUCH to see in New England and so little time to get it all in, lol- it was the perfect place to come "home" to every night and enjoy the fire and a glass of wine. I loved waking up to the fog rolling across the lake, and the quiet! It was so peaceful there- wish I could have another week just for that!

The cottage is in a great location- central to a lot of the things I wanted to see. An hour outside of Salem, MA; three hours from Burlington, VT; maybe an hour and a half or so from Boston, MA. Mount Washington is doable, so is Portland, ME.

Everything I needed was provided in the cottage and I didn't have problems of any kind. One thing that I don't remember reading about, and didn't anticipate ahead of time, were the steps from the car landing down to the cottage, there are a lot of them! I was okay with it but if you have problems with stairs it's something to consider. I had a heavy piece of luggage I was using (3 weeks on the road) and I ended up not packing it down them and instead just grabbing a set of clothes each night as I returned to the cottage for the next day.

Overall HIGHLY recommend this place- when I return to New England I'd love to look into renting it again!

Great Getaway- Relaxing Location

  • 5 of 5

This was a great location for a getaway. House has everything you need to enjoy your trip. We only had two people in out party but it would easily accommodate four. Plenty of windows kept the house cool. Lots to do- hiking, kayaking and mountain bike trails at nearby state park. Nice quiet lake for kayaking and swimming. Neighbors were friendly and both the neighbors and the owner were helpful with information about the area. Overall a great experience!
