About Yvonne or Steve

As you can tell from our sweatshirts, we are both proud Penn State graduates! When Steve is not playing golf at the Sand Barrens, he can be found on one of our decks reading a book. I prefer to walk on the beach, take photographs and look for dolphins. One of my favorite times of the year is when the birds migrate from as far away as the Arctic, to Avalon. We both enjoy the Avalon Library and breakfast at The Fisherman's Pier at the south end of the boardwalk.

Yvonne or Steve purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Yvonne or Steve chose South NJ Shore

When I was born we lived in an ocean-front property in Virginia Beach. I grew up with the sound of waves, views of the ocean, and sand under my feet. When we moved to Pennsylvania, summer vacations generally included the Maryland, Delaware and Jersey shores. The first time I visited Avalon as an adult, I knew that this was where I wanted to spend my summer vacations. This particular home needed a lot of attention and was referred to by others as a 'tear down.' However, my father believed that the house had good bones and that it deserved attention, not destruction. After more than 20 years of updates and renovations, I'm very pleased with the protection, joy and memories that this home has provided for our friends and guests.

What makes this cottage unique

Because this house is our home, we pride ourselves in keeping it as clean and safe for our guests as we do for ourselves. It's not just a beach rental to us, rather a home that we provide for others to enjoy when we can't be here ourselves. Every renovation, addition and update to the property has been a labor of love.

Cozy Beach Cottage in Quiet Seaside Town

  • 5 of 5

Our family loves to stay at this cozy, beautiful beach cottage every summer. We love that the owner has really made it feel more like a home than a rental property. It's always immaculately clean and includes high quality furniture rather than the flimsy kind that you sometimes find in rental properties. I look forward to snuggling up on the plush sofas to read books or watch movies at night.

Avalon is a quaint beach town-excellent for couples or families who are looking to "get away from it all." However, Atlantic City is only 40 minutes away if you want great shopping or night life.

While you're there, be sure to eat at Sylvester's. It's out favorite seafood restaurant on the island and just a few minutes drive from the house. We like to get takeout so that we can eat on the deck while watching sunset over the bay.

I highly recommend this property!

GREAT FALL GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Avalon after the season with two other couples. This house was more of a home than a typical rental property. Beautiful and comfortable furnishings. Plenty of outdoor options when we needed some privacy. It was a great stay. The owner went out of her way to make sure everything was just right for us. Avalon was quiet and the weather was great. We'll be back.

The Best House

  • 5 of 5

We loved this little house. It was just perfect. The house is adorable and well decorated. It is in a quiet area and so it was just peaceful. The porches were great. We liked that we were just a little away from the main town but yet walking distance from restaurants and shopping. You will not be sorry renting here. The owner is very nice and made our stay so nice. I am really picky and everything is so clean and quaint. Loved it! Loved it!

Our favorite town

  • 5 of 5

This was the best house we've ever stayed in during our visits to Avalon over the last 30 years! My family was very impressed with the decor as well as the size of the rooms. The three porches provided plenty of space to spread out. The back porch was our favorite place to enjoy meals. The fact that so many supplies (like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent and dryer sheets, dishwasher soap and cleaning supplies) were provided by the owner was also a bonus! We also enjoyed the fact that there was a park across the street and not houses. The neighborhood was quiet and family friendly. All in all we were delighted with our stay and would highly recommend it!

I can not say enough about this home! The decor and cleanliness were above our expectations. The owner had taken the utmost care in preparing for our visit and made the rental process easy. We are already planning our return next year. Perfect girls getaway!!

This renovated shore cottage with newly covered decks overlooks the Avalon Recreation Complex and Park providing opportunities for soccer, hockey, baseball or softball, tennis, and basketball. From two decks you can see the island waterway. The island trolley stops across the street providing regular rides to Stone Harbor. We often walk to the Avalon Freeze which is only a few blocks away. The neighborhood is quiet; most neighbors are homeowners who live in Avalon year round. The beaches on this end of the island are often less crowded with great views of the northern shore towns of Sea Isle, Ocean City, and Atlantic City.

Other Activities: tennis, basketball, aerobics, Zumba, yoga, soccer, baseball, field hockey, softball, running and biking.
