Can't wait to return!!

This house was AMAZING!!! From the moment we arrived and walked in the front door we did not want to leave. Ron and Tina were great to work with from start to finish, and even accommodated our tight vacation schedule.

We had a total of six people staying in the house and we had more than enough room for everyone. The layout of the house was perfect, plenty of space for everyone. We even had family that was staying a town over, come for dinner one night and we had more than enough room. Did I mention the house was fabulous?!?! The furnishings were beautiful and comfortable and the house is tastefully decorated.

Staying so close to the beach was PERFECT!!!!!! We could go over before it opened, come back to the house for lunch, back to the beach and then walk over after dinner to watch the sunset.

I was a little nervous after reading some of the bad reviews, but the beach was never overly busy (it is summer what would one expect) and if you take care of the house as you would your own, you would not have anything to worry about (and this was with a toddler). This was by far one of the best vacations we have had in RI with our family and we are already counting down the day’s till next year when we will be returning. I could only wish this was our home that we could enjoy year round!!

This home does not disappoint!!

Did not end well

  • 2 of 5

Stayed with our family at this property in 2014. The house was very nice. For the most part, we enjoyed our stay there. The beach was quiet. Ron was responsive during the booking process and also stopped in while we were there. We invited him in to meet everyone but I think he was just checking in to make sure we were parking in the appropriate spots. Upon checking out, we were very careful to follow all the procedures. Unfortunately, Ron claimed that we damaged the floors with scratches( we did move furniture: a coffee table and an occasional chair) and broke a lamp. We felt that we left the place pristine. I personally walked into every room to make everything was okay. I specifically remember the lamp he mentioned was broken, however, it was perfectly fine when I left there. Anyway, I now wish I had gone back to personally look at this so- called damage, but was so upset by the whole thing that I just let it go and I didn't fight to get our security deposit back. I have rented through VRBO for 15 years, in Italy, France, Cape Cod, Spain and the Outer Banks. Have never had this type of experience ever!! Left a bad taste. Wouldn't recommend

Expensive Mistake

  • 1 of 5

Ron and Tina Chofay were responsive while they were answering our questions during the sales phase. However, once we paid it was a different story.

The pictures posted on the VRBO website may have been accurate at one time, but not now. Much of the furniture in the posted pictures was either replaced with cheaper/older furniture, in different condition or the pictures were staged to advertise the house.

The BBQ was dirty and ran out of propane the first time we used it, ruining the multiple steaks and salmon we were grilling. There was no back up tank and the owners were not responsive to our request for timely help. Either check to ensure the BBQ has sufficient propane for 1 week or have a back up tank available for renters. Occasional cleaning is also reasonable so it isn’t caked with debris.

My father in law informed me that he found the Chofay’s son in the attached garage one morning. When I went to speak with him he had quickly driven off leaving the garage door open. He told my father in law he needed some equipment. Neither he nor the Chofays contacted us before or after this incident. We have three young children and the garage has easy access to the house. This was inappropriate and unsafe.

While the public beach in the ad looks great, it gets oppressively crowded by 10:30am through early evening. Grand Central Station with sand. Unlike the other RI beaches we’ve enjoyed previous summers.

Finally, we had carefully hung lightweight room darkening cloth using painter’s tape in the bedroom where our 2 ½ year old twins were sleeping because the room remained very bright even with the window treatments drawn. On the Saturday we were leaving three small (1 x 1 inch) sections of paint peeled from just above the window frame when we removed the painter’s tape. We immediately contacted Tina Chofay to inform her and to apologize. It took days and multiple attempts to receive an incomplete response from her. In the end she hired a professional painter to repaint the entire wall and charged us $200 when it would have taken a few minutes to touch up these three small spots.

It seems the Chofays own multiple properties reflected in their efforts to “make the sale”, but poor results after they take payment. We have been renting vacation homes for years with positive experiences. This was a regrettable and expensive mistake. While they may treat their regular/returning renters well, I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere.

Lovely Property - Awesome Location!

  • 5 of 5

We have visited the Narragansett Beach Area for many years - catching up with family and friends that live in the Rhode Island area. This home was perfect for our vacation. The location is awesome - within walking distance to Roger Wheeler Beach and an easy drive or bike ride to Scarborough Beach. We also enjoyed the short walk or bike ride to Galilee for restaurants and shopping.

Our weather was perfect - so most days were spent outside. We had a great day trip to Block Island - I would highly recommend this as a mid week break from the beach. It is great fun to rent some mopeds and tour the island.

Tina and Ron were very friendly and easy to do business with!

I would rent this home again!!!

Beautiful Family Thanksgiving Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family spent Thanksgiving 2012 in this beautiful home! The house is gorgeous and the location is perfect. The kitchen/living room/dining room area is second only to the fabulous sun room. This was our first time in Sand Hill Cove, and Roger Wheeler State Park. I am sure it is quite busy in the summer, but with perfect weather in November, it was a peaceful spot and provided a great playground for the kids to play and adults to take long walks.

Tina and Ron were so accommodating and wonderful to work with! I will always have wonderful memories of my parents, siblings, and nephews together during this special week.

Awesome Summertime Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

After vacationing at the Cape for several years, this was a much more convenient, affordable and relaxing vacation. The home was immaculate and so close to the beach, we walked! The owners helped us choose restaurants and provided a large book of activities, menus and coupons. The kids enjoyed biking, kayaking and surf lessons. There was time enough for us to enjoy a little wine tasting at a summer festival. We are heading back again next year. Thank you Tina and Ron!
