This is a true Mountain Oasis in the desert at the Joshua Tree National Park entrance:
One property, one bedroom house, extra sleeping in living room, and private-entrance guest quarters, plus a detached art studio for recreation and extra sleeping.
The house is a colorfully-painted ranch style, with mostly glass walls facing the mountain views in the back yard, with private entrance guest quarters and bath, plus a detached art studio for work, play, and/or extra sleeping.
Get away from the world, no TV. However, we now have WIFI. All that is avail in town for emergencies, but this is a real desert-mountain retreat.
The house is one big room with living room, fire place, kitchen, and sunken area for enjoying the Mountain View with a separate and private master bedroom off the living room area.
And the other side of the open space holds the dining area with a hallway off to the bath. Through the colonnade and down the path are the guest quarters, a single large bedroom with Mountain View and bath.
There is an art studio next to it, with a convertible bed and day bed for extra sleeping.
Enjoy the orchard of 8 fruit trees, garden, large pine trees, and many other trees, cactus, and other desert plants.
There is lots of shade for lazy orchard naps in the hammock after lunch prepared in the outdoor kitchen.
You can spend early evenings in the hot tubs, among the rocks, after hiking, rock climbing, or just driving through the gorgeous Joshua Tree Park. Or after horse back riding available down the road.
There are restaurants, art galleries, live theatre, music festivals, and we are only 25 minutes from Desert Hot Springs and its famous hot tubs and pool where you can spend the day for one small price.
Further we are 35 minutes from Palm Springs its airport, spas, golf courses, arts and culture.
The Salton Sea is an 1 1/2 hrs away with fishing, swimming, and boating. LA and the Ocean communities are 2 1/2 hrs away for a great day trip.
The Wild Flower season is in the spring, and everything is in bloom, and people come from all over the country to see it. The fall and winter the area is a mecca for the rock climbers and mild weather fans. So, spend a week or a weekend in this beautiful desert Oasis.

Joshua Tree is a spiritual and vacation mecca.
This is a unique location nestled into the border with the park. It is private and beautiful. You have the Park to explore, or you can just sit in the yard or amongst the numerous boulders on the property and be part of it. Or you can sit in the oasis of gardens, pine trees, and fruit orchard. It is a very special place.
Traveling with teens can be difficult at times ...but this property had something for us all! And I loved that our dogs could enjoy this piece of paradise too...Thanks Larry.
Our family gathered in this pet friendly location for a couple days. It has great access to the National park. The views from the property are beautiful and we totally enjoyed the many different outdoor amenities it offers. The interiors are a bit primitive but it had everything we needed to cook, relax and be extremely comfortable. If you're looking for funky, fun, a little Gyp-set type place -- you found it here. If you must have spotless sterile designer furnishings, go elsewhere.
If you want jaw dropping views and cozy, private nights by the fire this is for you. The private backyard is like a dream. It's breathtaking view of the valley is not to be missed. I had to rush out and take pictures at dawn it was so beautiful. The colors reflecting on the rocks created a mystical, magical vibe. Perfect for a long day of hiking or road tripping this house is cozy beyond with a fire in the fireplace I was definitely warm enough during the colder evenings. I recommend this spot for anyone with families and groups of friends to enjoy the individual buildings. Francette's studio is an inspiration for anyone who loves art, a must see into her world. Thank you to Larry and Tim for making everything run like a charm. They were extremely attentive to my needs. And a thank you especially to Randy for making this time in the desert an incredible life changing experience for me I will never forget.
We booked this property during our visit to JTNP. It's a secluded location with 3 detached units and plenty of space for many to enjoy. With classic old wood stove heaters, fireplaces and amazing backyard with lots of boulders for everyone to enjoy. It is also very close to JTNP entrance. The owner and manager both are very helpful, responsive and took good care of us during our stay. Would definitely recommend this property and looking forward to another stay !!
My friends and I stayed here over a weekend and had the best time. The property includes 4 separate structures, each with their own unique qualities. The main house offers a bedroom and bathroom, along with several places for other people to sleep. The kitchen is small and rather outdated, but it got the job done and we were very satisfied.
My husband and I slept in the guest house, which was just perfect for us and our 2 small pups. It has an attached full bathroom and stove for warm. Our friends stayed in the bedroom above the garage that opens up onto a gorgeous and massive balcony and the remaining friends stayed in the art studio, which has 3-4 beds available. The only catch with the garage and art studio is that they do not have their own bathrooms.
Hands down the best feature of the property is the land. This house sits in a secluded area so when you open the sliding doors, you look directly out to boulders everywhere. We had so much fun exploring the backyard! Each day we made a fire in the firepit and enjoyed the quiet and beauty of the land. We attempted to use the jacuzzi one night, but the water was way too hot to get in, even after us waiting an hour or two for it to cool down. Plan ahead if you want to get in during your trip!
All in all, this was an exceptional trip and we absolutely loved the property. It is true that this is not luxury living, but it works and we had a blast. One last tip is that the property was challenging to find at night. A few of us got lost on the street leading in. It would be great if the owner could hang a sign or address along the road. And the pictures included on VRBO are not updated. The main house looked very different, in a good way.
Wow, the yard at this place is spectacular! Talk about being right in the middle of the National Park--awesome. We were at a conference during most of the days, so we thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the back deck by those gorgeous rocks in the back yard at night. It was so peaceful and quiet. The hot tub was wonderful too.
The house itself is not what I'd call luxury living, but we didn't really expect that either. There are lots of bugs (it is the desert) and many of the screens need to be replaced. The beds were comfortable and there are lots of places to sleep. The guest house has it's own bathroom and there is another full bath in the main house.
The art studio has 4 single beds and would be a great hide out for a group of kids or teens. The room above the garage is quite nice, however, there is no screen on the sliding door which goes out to a very nice rooftop deck (so would be hot in there at night without leaving the sliding door open).
The handyman did say that they would be fixing the screens, so you may want to check on that before you book if that's important to you. It was cool enough at night for us to leave the windows open instead of using an A/C, which was great--nice breeze every evening.
Kitchen: Not great. Plenty of plates, no good knife to cut veggies. No blender, we brought our own. Pans are very worn out and not very good quality. Inside kitchen is small. Outside kitchen is awesome.
Overall, we LOVED it. The energy there was the most amazing part. We even had some big horned sheep come for a visit one day. They hung out up on the rocks in the back yard and allowed me to take some great photos! You'll hear coyotes at night and see jack rabbits cruising around. There are even a few mice that live on the back patio that come out at night. One startled us one night, but he was super cute.
It's a great place to stay. Have fun!
