Beautiful and Peaceful.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful!!! My family was there in the late fall and it was awesome!! After seeing that great pool we all wished we were there in the summer to enjoy it. If you love history this is the place for you. Great place to kick back and relax. The pond is slam full of fish as well. You can't go wrong by renting this beautiful home!

Wonderful Home!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at LaVallee! We stayed here for our son's wedding in Richmond and it was the perfect place to visit and have fun with all the activities available on the property. The home was lovely, immaculate and comfortable. The grounds were just stunning! The hosts provided all the information for the home and even left suggestions for local points of interest. We would definitely come back to spend more time relaxing and doing sightseeing. The wedding was wonderful and we all agreed this home was a highlight of our time together! Lifetime memories were made.....

Beautiful, Peaceful, Serene

  • 5 of 5

My family and friends have traveled to a different destination every year for the past 12 years because we don't want to have a "repeat vacation." After staying a La Valle, everyone said they would definitely repeat vacation here. The house is beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen is probably the best stocked kitchen of any place we have every stayed which is extremely important for us as we cook in most days and nights. It even had sharp knives (which never happens -- I have actually resorted to bringing my own). We traveled to Richmond one day to take the kids to the science museum and my husband and son took our boat to the James River for some flathead fishing another day. Other than that, we stayed put. The fact that we could bring our lab on vacation with us made this place even better. There was plenty to do not too far away, but we stayed home for the most part. The boys spent the days fishing in the pond while the ladies and kids stayed poolside. At night, we swam under the stars, or relaxed on the comfy furniture watching TV and/or reading books, or played games at the large dining table. The owners are friendly and easy to deal with. This was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had and we loved every minute of it. There are lots of ticks and bugs though (you are in the country of course) so be sure to bring lots of bug spray!! I'm almost certain this will be our first repeat vacation destination.

Another 5 star review

  • 5 of 5

It seems that everyone before us agrees, this IS a beautiful property, a wonderful location, great amenities, and a perfect home to gather a family/friends for any occasion. The home is comfortable, the fish were biting in the lake, the pool was perfect for the hot summer days, the darkness at night allowed us to see so many stars AND the international space station fly by! We enjoyed just watching our dogs enjoy the property, listening to the birds sing and having coffee or drinks on the front porch thinking about all of the history the house has seen. We drove in to both Richmond and Charlottesville to do some sight seeing and we cooked great meals in the fabulous kitchen. 6 adults and two dogs shared the place and there was plenty of room for all of us. We think you'll love it too.

Gracious Living at La Vallee!

  • 5 of 5

There aren't enough stars to rate this property properly. Words cannot express how overwhelmed we were by the beauty and peace of La Vallee. Our only regret in renting this property was that we didn't stay longer. You must experience La Vallee for yourself...enjoy the quiet, the birdsong, the vast meadows, the six acre lake and its bullfrogs, and a home that is historic, beautiful, well-equipped and immaculate. My husband, our young adult/teen children, my mother and my aunt all enjoyed our stay during my son's wedding weekend in Charlottesville. La Vallee was the perfect resting place at the end of each busy day, and the perfect way to begin each morning with a dip in the pool, or a stroll through the meadows and woods. We had great weather and loved every minute of our stay. My aunt especially enjoyed digging into the history books and documents found in the library and regaling us each day with stories about Goochland and La Vallee. We had a great experience with the owners and really appreciate that the Satterfields make this amazing home available for so many to enjoy. As my mother said the morning before we left, "This is gracious living!"

Perfect Fall Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved La Vallee. My husband, two small sons, my father, and our dog Cocoa spent five days at LaVallee and no one wanted to leave. It was a perfect and relaxing spot- we had several events to attend in Charlottesville, so we did not get to spend as much time on the grounds as we would have liked, but the time we did spend there was heaven. The boys loved running around outside on the endless lawns, playing cowboys under the oak trees. We took out the paddle boat around the lake and explored the paths through the woods. My father and my dog took long walks and enjoyed some lazy time outside in the sun. We absolutely loved the inside of the house, too- absolutely beautiful, cozy, and homey. Every amenity. Loved the library in particular. The house was extremely clean and neat and well-stocked. We can't wait to return!
