Main house - 4 full bathrooms, 4 bedrooms; (guest hse - 1 BR, 4 rm 1 full bath )

This gorgeous beachfront home sits on Ft Myers Beach about mid island, with views of the Gulf of Mexico and Sanibel island directly from the 60 ft deck or pool area. There are 7 miles of white powdery sand to traverse on Ft Myers Beach - from the house either 3 miles south or 4 miles north for great jogging, walking or shelling. The two story home was completed in 2002 from a total renovation of an older home - basically torn down except for one wall and totally rebuilt and now including a second level. There are two bedrooms, both with full en-suite bathrooms on the second level. Both rooms have direct access to balconies that overlook the pool and beach area. The bedrooms consist of two king bedrooms first floor (one of them has in addition...a queen sleep sofa). Second level has a queen bedroom and a twin bedroom ( containing two twin beds that can easily be mad up as a king bed as well).

The deck faces the Gulf waters, so to sit on the deck and observe the nightly sunset is almost religious. There is nothing more amazing than watching the gorgeous canopy in the sky unfold.....and every evening it is a different picture.

you will actually see groups of people stopping on the beach just in front of the deck to watch the scenery unfold.

The guest house (sits just 25ft behind the main house) is rented separately from main house, and rates quoted below are ONLY for the main house. Pricing on the guest house is $750 to $895/wk plus tax and cleaning in addition to the 4BR rates below..This some times relieves the congestion with large groups, and is a must if your party numbers are over 10 guests. The house consists of a king Bedroom, living room with two couches (one of them a queen sleeper) which also has cable TV/phone/ CD/DVD, a full kitchen including another laundry area, and a dinette area for eating. It also has its own deck with chairs and BBQ grill if the party using it might be elderly or a young recent wedding couple to enjoy some time away from the rest of the group..

About Buzz Ebner

The Ebner family operate children's camps in Connecticut every summer. For many years the family started coming down to Ft Myers Beach for mid winter vacations ( around 1958) We have seen the island grow from a 50% developed island to almost 100% in the last fifty years. Finally in the 80's, we decided to buy some beachfront property, because this is what we enjoyed the most. Our parents have since passed, but they also bought property on Ft Myers Beach and resided here year round except for a couple of summer months back in Connecticut. They looked after the waterfront homes we acquired, but we now have a full time beach manager that lives on the island and exclusively looks after our properties when we are not on the island. We have been in the home and apartment rental business for over thirty years and know what people like to find in renting a home or apartment whether it is for one week, one month, or several years. At one time recently, we operated and owned more than 300 rental units in Florida, Cape Cod Mass. and Connecicut. We are older and wiser now, and operate only about one dozen rental homes in Florida and Connecticut.

If you do decide to rent one of our homes, we hope you will treat it like your own and respect the items we have placed in the home for your comfort or enjoyment. We also welcome comments and suggestions either good or bad to make our homes more enjoyable for others to come in the future.....and hopefully for your return visit in the future as well.

Just returned from our week at 5960 Estero. Loved it. Great accomodations. Great weather. The pool was fabulous. The dogs loved the beach. Went parasailing, dolphin watching, waverunning. Best dinner was at Flippers. South just over the bridge in Lovers Key Resort.

Notes:
The home is somewhat accessible to elderly or wheelchair guests. The home is only three steps up from the beach sand - not a high rise like most of the newer homes. There is one step from the house down to the sun deck, and another two steps from the deck down to the pool deck. The deck on the home faces the Gulf and West.

Excellent - hope to visit again someday soon

Parents, kids and grandkids - what a grand time we had. With toddlers able to play on the secured deck as well as the secured pool allowed adults to relax. The layout and en-suite bathrooms were great for our extended family with kids going to bed early. Easy access to the beach was wonderful for quick jaunts to collect seashells.

Great place to stay!!

We had a wonderful stay here! It was perfect for my family, including my two young grandchildren. We arrived late in the afternoon and immediately went outside to see the beautiful beach and pool. Our 3 year old grandson said 'can we stay here forever?!' We particularly enjoyed the beautiful sunsets every night, dolphin close to shore and walking on the sandbar when tide was out. The picture of the pool doesn't do it justice - it's much prettier in person - especially at night! There was plenty of seating inside and out for extended family visits (we were at Fort Myers beach for a family wedding). Dining on the deck is the way to go here - skip going out to the restaurants and either grill out or order in so you can continue to enjoy the setting. The guest cottage was great for my in laws so they could have their own quiet space away from our two energetic grandchildren. The owners were also flexible with our dates (many are not), which was very much appreciated.

BEST EVER! DON'T LET IT GET AWAY

STAYED AT THIS HOME WITH A FAMILY OF 12. BEST VACATION EVER! THE GUEST HOUSE WAS AWESOME TO PUT THE YOUNGER ADULTS IN. THE UPSTAIRS BEDROOMS HAVE THE BEST VIEWS. THE SUNSETS ARE TO DIE FOR. SWIMMING IN THE LITE UP POOL AT NIGHT UNDER THE STARS WAS MY FAVORITE SPOT TO BE. PUTS YOU IN A UNIVERSE OF YOUR OWN. TO FALL ASLEEP WITH THE WAVES CRASHING IN YOUR EAR.... PRICELESS!! I WOULD NEVER STAY ANYWHERE ELSE AGAIN. YOU DON'T EVEN NEED TO LEAVE THE HOUSE, YOU WON'T WANT TO. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. SHOPPING AND DINING WAS NOT FAR. CANT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS LOCATION.

We had flying ants, it needs updating & cleaning!

We just rented this home in July. However, there were some REAL issues!!! The bug issue was an awful experience! To come back from dinner and bugs covering everything in a bedroom was indescribably terrible. Every piece of clothing had to be washed for the 4 people in that room and we had to wash the bedding in that room. We called the property manager and she did come over with sheets for the extra house but no bug spray or anything to handle the current problem. All everyone else could think of was these bugs would be everywhere!!! We had to go get bug spray so it didn't get worse and then clean up all the bugs ourself with no offer from property mgr to wash sheet or to clean up the bugs not even the next day when the exterminator came we had to clean up all the bugs ourself! Of course we had kids crying scared of all of the bugs flying around and a wall covered in them - it was a horrible experience when I knew I how much I had paid for this weeks vacation and how long I had saved for it and going through this type of experience!

The upstairs has 1 smoke detector in the first bedroom but that hallway and other bedroom have wires hanging out of the ceiling and no detectors.

The kitchen faucet base moves when you switch the handle from cold to hot

The cold air return, fans and vents are black from dirt, just disgustingly filthy!

The glass sliders don't shut completely, you can see outside the first night we had to put paper towels in the living room door to block the bugs because a bug about the size of a half dollar was on the wall and another on the floor then we saw where they were coming in.

The upstairs 1st bedroom my grand daughter cut her foot on the carpet tack between the bathroom & bedroom my husband had to take the ice cream scoop and nail the tack down.

The double sink bathroom the first sink was so hard to turn off none of the kids were allowed to use it because they couldn't turn it off.

The pool toys and pool and the awning were wonderful. The whole deck area was very nice!

I did contact the owner feeling I should be compensates for what I went through. He sent me back an insulting email!

It's a great area but I would not recommend renting from these people!

Owner's Response: unfortunately, there are people that we rent to that they start complaining the minute they enter our home. We know what will come next.....they want refunds for their stay. We have been in the rental business for over thirty years. We know exactly what to expect. in response to this visitors problem, they called at 10 P.M. at night to get our beach manager to remedy a problem. The family wanted an exterminator to come to the house at 10:30 at night. The chances of this happening are zero to none. Our beach manager offered this mother and her two children using the one bedroom that had been left a door open just slightly with the lights on and some bugs entered the bedroom.....another bedroom area. The guest house that sits directly behind the home is a 4 room house with king bedroom and a queen sleeper - the same accommodations they had in the bedroom of the main house that had at most about 15 bugs in it. Their clothing was either in the drawers of the dressers or in their suitcase. It puzzles me that ALL THEIR CLOTHING had to be laundered for 15 bugs. They refused to use this bedroom, and accepted the clean bedding from our beach manager instead. Upon departure they demanded a refund for this inconvenience, even though we took care of whatever wildlife that might have come in the night before, with the exterminator the next morning. If this home were managed by a realty office, I know You would not have reached anyone for a small problem likethis. Another sleeping area was offered but refused. They instead took the fresh linens and made up the beds instead in the room which was cleared of bugs. As for some of the other complaints they dug up..... There was one return grill that was behind a dresser that had some lint on it, as it is near the laundry dryer - a probably on a day when the doors are left open from the deck, air and lint did get onto this grill. Smoke detectors are in every bedroom ( required by Florida law). There were some hardwired units a few years back that went bad, and our electrician put battery operated ones in each bedroom instead. All are functional, but one or two have old plates still on the ceiling with wires from the old units. our slider door units get a lot of open and shutting, many times slammed by younger children, but they are tight and close with very secure locks on them. If they are left ajar and not locked, they can be loose enough to allow bugs in, but all are tight to the weather.

Best vacation house!

I think this was our 3rd year staying here . We love spending our days lounging by the pool, sitting on the deck for most of our meals & just generally relaxing. This year was bad for traffic, taking an hour to get to the bridge but we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. We had been staying at a condo complex on the north end of island for the last 35 years & wanted more space & privacy with our own pool. I have to thank our daughter for finding this rental, it's perfect! Hated leaving, but we're already looking forward to next year! Thanks again for another wonderful vacation!

Owner's Response: we love it when other families enjoy the house and beach area location of this home as much as our family does. We also would not trade location for anything....even with tough traffic. We either eat locally on the south end of the island or leave early and try something down in Bonita Beach way. There are lots of choices. But as this family said it all, when the weather is nice, and you sit around your own private pool - that is the best time. Glad they called early to book for next season, because we are now getting close to 10 to 12 month advance booking for the popular dates.

We have specific information on our home website (which we send to you after initial inquiry) as to names and contact numbers for most of the places of interest on the island.

For day entertainment, there are all sorts of rentals around the island and directly on the beach for bikes, baby beach strollers, wave runners, parasailing, and kayak tours around the island. If you are in to motorbikes or motorcycles, there are rentals for those as well as small electric fiberglass electric cars.

FMB also has two grocery stores on island - Topps and the larger of the two ....Publix Market about mid island 1 mile north of the house.

We have dozens of really good restaurants all on the island, and many more off island. Fishing is a prime industry for the island with one of the largest shrimping pier areas in the southwest corner of Florida. You can buy right at the pier for really fresh and delicious shrimp and fish selections. With five marinas on the island, there are many captains to choose from for daily charters or group charter boat excursions for fishing. You might also be interested in renting a boat to captain yourself from a Boston whaler style boat to an inboard with seating up to 12. Perhaps even a pontoon party boat to just cruise around the back bay area to watch local wildlife including manatees and dolphins, or just cruising from island to island along the coast. On the island and within a ten minute drive to other islands there are numerous wildlife protected areas to view the birds, gators, manatees, and the fantastic shell life that is always abundant on these south west islands of Florida. Make sure to check out the Ding Darling reservation on Sanibel, Shell Mound historic area, and Lovers Key state park for excellent shelling and marine life. If you google the area known as FMB and Sanibel beaches, there is a 175 page book all about the area and things to do.

There is the Barbara Mann theater for traveling Broadway and local talent stage shows in Ft Myers proper (about 20-25 minutes away). On the southern part of the island there is a 4 screen movie theater that also serves meals and beer/wine during shows. There is an offshore excursion in the high speed ferry that loads at Ft Myers Beach marina and travels in approximately 2 1/2 hours to 3 to Key West. Much easier than driving, and you can return the same day or stay over and return the next evening. Rate for this is $99 to $125 round trip to key west and back.

Going off the island there is just about anything you can imagine in the localized Ft Myers Area and greater region. There are numerous outlet centers within 20 to 30 minute drives. The malls located in Ft Myers proper are numerous and cover just about any budget and interest area. During the mid winter time, there is sport action with two winter baseball teams residing in Ft Myers - the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox ( two separate stadiums). And yes, there is still dog racing at the Bonita Springs Track just 20 minutes away. There is also gambling at the Seminole Casino about one hour away in Immokolee.

Tampa is within 2 1/2 hours away for the Bush Gardens entertainment area, and then Orlando about the same time north of Ft Myers for Disney, Universal Studios, Sea World, and many more.

If you are heading off to or coming from a cruise, Ft Myers Beach is again only a 2 1/2 hour drive from the Ft Lauderdale and Miami shipping ports for the cruise ships.

South of Ft Myers Beach is one of the nicest zoos on the East Coast - The Naples Zoo. But please wander around the Naples area as this is also a fabulous home viewing area as well as superb shopping districts and perhaps even take in the local dinner/ theatrical performance night club.

Any fees paid directly to agencies assisting the booking (RE: Homeaway, or VRBO, etc) and kept by these agencies will not be refunded by the homeowner. These must be requested to the agency or realtor involved if your reservation was done with one of these sources.
