Your recently remodeled and updated Kona Beach House sits on the point of a bay with lush tropical landscaping, flowers and palm-trees surrounding a swimming pool and jacuzzi/spa. The serenity is not marred by street-noise or house-parties. Situated at Kona Onenalo: a gated 12-home complex four miles south of Kailua-Kona town and one mile north of Keauhou (a golfers' haven).

Your two-story Kona Beach House is about 15-yards (meters) from the surf; and the crashing waves on the lava and beach are best experienced from our two large lanais. You can watch the surfers, the sunsets, or just look at the turquoise blue Pacific Ocean where spinning dolphins and whales swim. With a nearly constant temperature in the 80s, and a cool ocean breeze, your oceanfront Kona Beach House is a tropical dream.

It is ideal for multi-generation family vacations.

The oceanfront, two-story, 2000 square-foot house has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people. The main level includes a bedroom/study with two twin beds, full bathroom, kitchen, dining area, and spacious living room that opens to the main lanai with its dramatic Pacific Ocean view. We spend most of our time at home on this gorgeous lanai!

The top level has two lovely bedroom suites. The large master bedroom has a king bed and its own private lanai overlooking the ocean, with a lotus pond – an incredible view and perfect for an early morning stretch or yoga. The second bedroom has two extra-long twin-beds (that can be made into a second king-bed, if desired). Each bedroom has its own private bathroom.

As this is a tropical home with open-air louvered windows and strategically placed ceiling fans, there is no need for air conditioning - the nearly constant ocean trade winds fan a breeze from the ocean during the day and from the mountains at night. There is however an air conditioner in the upstairs guest bedroom for your added comfort.

The architect designed Kona Onenalo with a focus on maximum privacy. With this in mind there are minimal window coverings to take full advantage of both air flow and views.

Your gated Kona Beach House is RIGHT ON THE OCEAN! Just steps away is a “private” ocean swimming and snorkeling cove with live coral, undersea caves, and magnificent fish & turtles. There is a locked gate that takes you to this cove.

(Note: we recommend only experienced ocean swimmers enter this cove as sometimes the surf and surge can be harmful to beginners.)

Additionally, there are two great beaches on Ali'i Drive. The first, Magic Sands/White Sands Beach, is a five minute stroll from the house, and is good for swimming and boogie boarding or board & body surfing. The second, Kahalu'u Beach, a ten minute walk, usually calm & safe, is great for snorkeling (and shore-entry scuba), and has green sea turtles that can be found feeding and sunning themselves.

Why Dorene Petersen chose Kona Coast

Our house is one of 12 free-standing, 2000 sq-ft houses on a point of land protruding into the Pacific Ocean. It is truly unique -- it could not be built today because the house is too close to the ocean by present codes. The 12-houses are in a gated community with good parking, and our house is far from Ali'i Drive so that there is no street-noise. Since all of the owners are also using the houses as second homes, and only a few provide them as vacation rentals as we do, the community typically has only 2-4 of the homes occupied at any one time -- so tranquility is assured,

What makes this house unique

While enjoying the beauty of the surroundings, my guests and I have difficult choices to make each day: Putting on snorkel-gear and walking through our private gate into the water of our '4-mile cove', full of coral, fish, and turtles -- so appealing that the dive and snorkel boats often bring their customers. Or, strolling 100-yards to the popular White Sands (or Magic Sands) beach for swimming, boogie boarding, surfing, or just sunning. Often we do both of these, and finish the day in our pool and jacuzzi -- and enjoy drinks and a barbeque dinner on our lanai at sunset.

Paradise in Paradise

We booked this house for nine nights for our 40th anniversary. Although it was larger than my husband and I needed for just the two of us, we chose it because of the view and location. We are so glad we did! We actually didn't want to leave to do anything else (which we seldom did). It was so relaxing and beautiful we just wanted to stay there. The owner has spent a lot of money updating the inside and the outside is very well kept. Beautiful landscaping and blooming flowers everywhere. We have rented many, many homes/condos over the last 20 years from VRBO (now Home Away) and this by far was the cleanest, most well stocked home we've ever rented. We debated about staying at a resort or in a vacation rental. In the end, we chose a rental because who wants to stay in a hotel room for a week plus without a kitchen or more space? In this home you are close in town but because it is a gated, small community, you do not feel like it. You are close to a variety of shopping, all kinds of restaurants, groceries, etc, if you like. If not, stay in like we did and feel like you're at a resort but with a lot of room! I cannot tell you how great the view and sound of crashing waves was. It really was paradise in Paradise!

Great Kona Beach Home

Our group had a great stay at YOUR KONA BEACH HOME. Love the 78 degree weather. Wonderful location for watching for whales and the ocean waves rolling onto the lava rock beach. We cooked in most nights so appreciate the well stocked kitchen and private barbeque.

Everyone enjoyed the privacy and seclusion of the property, makes for a very comfortable visit.

Wonderful Christmas getaway!!!

I stayed at this beautiful condo with my wife and three teenaged girls for two weeks over Christmas 2016. What a nice home in such a beautiful location! The pool and hot tub for the complex (a spacious, gated property with 12 well-landscaped, independent condos) are located just outside the back door and the ocean is just beyond that. The condo is a fully equipped stand alone unit with all the amenities of home (BBQ, fully equipped kitchen with sugar, spices and bottled water on hand). The bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms had soap, shampoo, conditioner and hair dryers, so that kept all of the girls happy (a demanding task). We enjoyed gorgeous sunsets out of the kitchen and dining room windows and we went to sleep to the sound of lapping ocean waves. The complex has a nice gate to the ocean for easy access snorkeling and a sand beach within easy walking distance. Again the house comes well equipped with beach chairs, boogie boards and beach towels. When we arrived the condo and two back decks (upstairs and downstairs) were spotless. The large screened windows provided plenty of fresh ocean air and kept the condo the perfect temperature day round. There is a nearby mall (2-3 miles down Ali'i Drive) with a big grocery store, drug store, movie theater and numerous casual restaurants. It is also about 4 miles from the town of Kona where there is nice shopping and many more restaurants. This property made for a perfect Christmas holiday: no snow, lots of sun and ocean fun and plenty of relaxation. We had a great time and will highly recommend this property to all our friends. Wonderful home and great location.

We spent two weeks here with our kids and grandchild. The beach was within easy walking distance, close to shops and the home was well appointed and comfortable. We would certainly return.

Fantastic house in a fantastic location

We loved staying here for our extended family Thanksgiving. The views of the ocean are beautiful and sitting on the lanai is peaceful. Just outside the complex is some of the better snorkeling on the island and it is a short walk to a nice swimming beach.

Perfection!

We loved the location of the condo in relation to downtown Kailua. The property was clean and spacious and perfect for our family of 5. The pool was perfect for our one year old daughter and we all enjoyed swimming in it on a daily basis. White Sands beach is just a couple mins walk from the property and we frequently this every day. We would absolutely love to stay here again on our next visit to the big island. Dorene, the owner of the property, was so accommodating with all of our questions leading up to our stay and during our stay. I cannot say enough about our positive experience and the memories we will cherish with our family while on vacation here. It was hard to leave, especially when we viewed a pod of dolphins swimming just outside the kitchen window upon our departure. What a special place to stay! Mahalo!
