Overview

Downeast and Acadia Chalet Rental Photos and Description

2 full bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, 1 sofa bed, sleeps 6

Cape Rosier is a magical place. Under every rock, around every corner, under the sea wonders are to be found. Enjoy the magic of a rocky beach, the sweet blueberries in the field across the way and the sandy beach just a short walk down the road. Whether in the sun or the swirls of fog, Cape Rosier is a magical place.

The chalet is a peaceful retreat to enjoy time away from the bustle of everyday life.

The Cape is located in a beautiful area surrounded by great biking, boating, nature walks and beach exploring. Just down the road you can explore the Holbrook Island Sanctuary where you can take easy hike to see wonderful birds and beautiful lilies in the pond. Visit the 4 seasons organic farm market and the Nearings good life Center. Or just sit by the shore (or inside the cottage) and watch the boats go by- the 4 masted schooners, lobster boats and more. Watch the seals, loons, cormorants and dolphins swim past. This is the cottage that has it all for a great get away.

Most of our guests are repeat customers. Book early to avoid disappointment.

About Rosemary Nickerson

Great Grandma Dot purchased the one-room log cabin on the three acre lot in 1951. It remains the oldest, original cabin on the Cape. Grandpa Jerry built the chalet in 1985.

Why Rosemary Nickerson chose Downeast and Acadia

A sereen setting, immediately accessible to the ocean.

What makes this chalet unique

It's like going back in time visiting Cape Rosier. We leave the hectic city behind and totally relax. The salty, sea air, the peace and quiet, the bald eagles, passing lobster boats, schooners, tall ships, islands off-shore.....so much to see and experience.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Rosemary and Buz,

We had a wonderful week in the Chalet--it's such a comfortable house with such a beautiful location! You both made us feel very welcome.

A magical place that I hope to visit again one day

This is a special place, well removed from major population centers but close to amazing coastal beaches, hiking trails and small-town gems like Buck's Harbor that look straight out of a children's storybook. The house is very modern, clean and chock-full of small amenities that reflect the generous spirit of its owners and coastal Maine nautical culture. Our kids loved hunting for sand dollars on the beach a few steps away. The kitchen is tiny but has everything you'll need to make great meals. Rosemary is very accessible and full of recommendations to make your stay in the area pleasant.

N.B English is not my first language.

Nice location if you want to avoid tourist area. We enjoyed every moment at this place. The house was really clean and well equiped. The owners , who are located in a house next door, are wonderful and generous people who respect your intimacy.

Great place to relax or get out & be active!

  • 5 of 5

Our week in this charming cabin was very enjoyable. My husband and I enjoyed the peace and quiet, plus the opportunity to go on nearby hikes at the Holbrook Island Sanctuary. Bucks Market had everything we needed for the week, including a great fresh seafood selection. The restaurant there was a treat. The Nearing's Good Life Farm was down the road & was a very interesting visit. Our daughter's family joined us later in the week and our 7 & 10 year old grandchildren loved the beach that's right in front of the cabin. We saw porpoise's, eagles, clams & crabs, lots of birds, beautiful sailboats, and lobster boats checking traps 50 feet from us. We all did a day trip to Acadia National Park. Top this all off with picking blueberries down the road & a ride on the owner's boat, & I would say it was perfect!

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

This is our third year renting this cottage - each year for a two week period. The owners keep everything up to snuff and the cottage has everything you need. Just bring your clothes, food and "fun stuff" and you will have a wonderful time. Every time you look out the large windows that face the sea, you see amazing sites - this year we saw many windjammers, eagles, nights with a beautiful full moon - just to name a few. You will not be disappointed with these accommodations!

Great vacation cottage on the water!

  • 5 of 5

Terrific little cottage with Big views! The listing description was accurate. The property was clean and well maintained. The weather was damp the week we visited but the hospitality and the views more than made up for a little soggy weather. Our family of 5 plus 2 dogs really enjoyed our stay. Water views from the cottage and water access to a private stone beach made this one of the best visits to Maine for us yet. The owners were gracious hosts and could not be friendlier. Highlight of the week was the Beach cookout!!! Watch out for the barnacles on the slippy rocks! Coffee in the morning watching the lobstermen check their traps was awesome. Just what we were looking for. Quiet and secluded… restaurants are a little bit of a drive but not too bad. Highly recommended. We’ll bring our kayaks next time!
