About Thomas Byrne

I purchased and restored the nearby Thomas Harrison House (VRBO 198445) in 1991. As my interest in the area grew, I purchased and restored the Thomas Blades House as well as the Washington Melson House (VRBO 229963) and John Bruff House (click on link).

Thomas Byrne purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Thomas Byrne chose Chesapeake Bay

The proximity to the beautiful harbor and to almost everything in Town, the architecture and the historic character of the area.

What makes this cottage unique

Walking distance to everything...harbor, shops, restaurants, museums, library, tennis courts, community pool etc. Large screened porch off of the family room. Very comfortable and relaxing home.

Charming Cottage Near Everything

  • 5 of 5

We spent two nights over New Year's Eve and had a quiet, relaxing time. Everything was just as pictured and reported by other travellers. Just a block off the main street with an Acme and lots or restaurants. And a few blocks from the harbor.

Awesome historical cottage stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great visit to the Thomas Blade cottage. The home is maintained in authentic historical condition. The owner has remodeled the home to include a modern kitchen, living room, and two bedrooms upstairs. The home is comfortable with A/C and a nice, screened porch. The porch is very relaxing and has a fan for warm days - a great place to hang out. We were able to walk everywhere or ride our bikes. The home actually came with two bikes, but we used our own. We had a nice, relaxing and enjoyable visit. One day was the brewfest and while it was nearby, it wasn't noisy or disruptive.

Thanks to the owners for maintaining such a nice, comfortable historic home for others to enjoy.

Great location and very clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our two boxers and I stayed at the Thomas Blades home over Memorial Day weekend. It met all of our expectations as far as superb location, cleanliness and comforts of home.

The location is the best. Easy to walk to everything in town and marina area but a nice quiet street with little pedestrian or vehicle traffic.

We only used the master bedroom which was very comfortable. Large room with built-ins, a tv and bed and pillows were very comfortable for us. Was plenty of floor space for our dogs' beds on the floor in the bedroom w us. The upstairs bathroom had a nice shower w good water pressure.

We spent most of our "at home" time on the rear screened in porch. It was very peaceful and had a ceiling fan which kept in plenty cool in the mornings and evenings we were there.

We did very little food prep but looked to have most anything you would need to prepare meals in the way of pots & pans. The appliances were very nice. There were a few cooking basics like salt/pepper, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and packets of sweetener. Plenty of plates, coffee mugs, etc. (you will find plates, cups, glasses in front dining room cabinet). There is a small 4 cup coffee maker (we are coffee drinkers would have liked larger one but no big deal). The home was stocked w plenty of towels, toilet paper and one extra roll of paper towels.

All in all, it was a great stay.

Much to our delight we discovered The Thomas Blade cottage which is now synonimous to St. Michaels. Its comfort, charm and location take it off the chart. Upstairs is a large master bedroom with a comfortable king sized bed...a second bedroom with a queen sized bed and a child`s trundle bed. The bathroom with a shower and bath plus a washer and dryer. All very clean and very nicely furnished.Downstairs you enter thru a pleasant screened in porch with French doors that tastefully reflect a paneled living room, eating area and television area..lovely hard wood floors thru out. With an open kitchen granite counters, built in double oven and microwave.Ample utensils features allowing you to prepare meals should you desire. The front(and original portion of this historical cottage)features built in book shelves, original fireplace, dining area, powder room all tastefully furnished with Mr.Byrnes` antiques.Photographs tell the visual truth so do check out the photos included with this site.Least I fail to mention that this cottage is a block from downtown St. Michaels with its fun and unique shops and spectacular eateries.Mr. Thomas Byrne is most accommodating and a pleasure to work with. Trust me,you will not regret a stay at the Thomas Blade cottage in St.Michaels.
