This family of 7, 4 adults and 3 children stayed for 2 weeks in my condo. I just received an email from these folk who wrote the following comment.

"Just wanted to say we had a wonderful time and the condo was great. We would love to stay there again and will save your email address to come back hopefully next year. Thanks again."

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We spent 11 days on Oahu, 8 were in a much larger house in Panaluu. We loved that house however it was but creepy as we killed a centipede, 2 huge 2 inch long roaches, millions ants and saw a huge rat. That being said, half of our group went home and spent the final 3 nights in this condo. It was so clean and bug free that we overlooked any shortcomings. The fry pans are very worn out, the non stick surfaces are flaking off which isn't safe to use. The bed was comfy and internet was great, easy to connect to. We walked to the beach at the resort and we're asked to get out of the lounge chairs. The man told us we have our pool and chairs at the condo, and they have theirs at the resort. This was very rude and made us feel like we were in second class on the Titanic! So I loved the condo but the resort can leave a bad taste in your mouth. We went some other beaches that were nearby and stayed far away from the resort. I highly recommend Haleiwa Joe's in Haleiwa for lunch or dinner...absolutely fantastic food!!! Thanks Trish for making our last few days memorable!

Owner's Response: Glad to read the guest’s comment: “..I loved the condo…” and didn’t want it to get lost in problems they had with a PRIOR rental they secured from another rental owner and hotel staff by the hotel pools. I have no connection to the larger house in Punaluu these guests rented. I own just the one condo that the guests moved into for their final 3 nights. I have regular treatment for the “bugs” common in Hawaii and am glad to hear the guests saw no bugs/rodents in my unit. Thank you for calling to my attention the need for a new set of pans – this is something I do on a regular basis but it appears I was a little slow this time. As to the problem the guests had with the hotel – the resort is large and each section have their own pools and accompanying furniture as it would be difficult to have enough available for all guests at hotel, guests houses, and two sets of condos by each pool. I always advise that my guests are welcome to use all hotel facilities except for the pools and tennis court and the condo association has 2 pools (and our pools are heated for night swims and hotels are not) and 2 tennis courts. Of course this doesn’t excuse any rude comments from hotel staff, but I have no connection with hotel staff however if I had heard quicker I would have tried to follow-up with hotel management. However my guests are welcome at the outside restaurant next to their pool for lunch, a drink and watch the surfers go by and all their 6 restaurants, golf courses, and rentals of bikes, horseback riding, and other such excursions and are welcome to arranged these at the hotels excursion desk. The excursion desk will have additional suggests for you. So come and enjoy all the amenities that available for you. Aloha Trish

a great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The weather wasn't great for a lot of beach time, but the pool was wonderful for the family to enjoy some water time. Most everything we wanted to do was in the area so travel time was easy. Trish, the owner was easy to work with and very helpful with any questions I had. My family truly enjoyed our stay.

Bad check-in experience

  • 2 of 5

First impression was bad. We played golf at turtle bay that was good. So it was already around 7 pm and we were tired and also it was heavy raining outside in the evening. When we arrived the unit to check-in, somebody was there in the unit. They were enjoining to watch TV with her son. I asked " We are supposed to rent this unit from today. But the lady said, " I do not think so." So I though I made a mistake to knock the wrong unit. but later I found I was right by calling the owner. The lady was a maid to clean the unit. The owner and the maid had a miscommunication for checkin date. I was upset because the maid did not apologize for the inconvenience for waiting in the heavy rain. No apology was made by the maid nor owner for the inconvenience. It was worst checkin experience ever int he heavy rain. Other that, everything was OK.

Owner's Response: Yes there was a mix up and spoke to guests on the phone and housekeeper so they could occupy immediately as unit was clean. I did apologize to someone in the group when they called and spoke on phone to them and housekeeper several times. First time a mix up like this has happened but that is no excuse.

Marginal at best

  • 2 of 5

Stayed for 9 days. The condo is very tired and worn out. Needs much upgrading. The paint is peeling in the kitchen, the baseboard molding is pulling off, the kitchen counter is delaminating, the threadbare towels must be from the 90's, the lanai has not been swept in months, and it is very noisy as it is right next to the main road entrance to Turtle Bay. Would not recommend this condo and certainly would not stay there again.

Owner's Response: The appearance of the condo is exactly as shown in the pictures – Hawaiian style, including bamboo and teak wood furnishing and futon style couch for additional, comfortable sleeping for families traveling together. I always encourage guests to either contact me or the housekeeper to resolve any issues that may arise. I take great pride in the maintenance of my condo and am always upgrading something. Recently, I put new cabinetry in the upstairs bathroom, new tile floor in door stairs bathroom, a new dishwasher, and a garbage disposal. I inspected the condo with my handyman and I didn’t witness any of the issues mentioned in this review.
