About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Ground floor, walkout, 2 bedroom condo (plus fold-out queen sleeper couch) LOCATED ON BEAUTIFUL POND at Ranch at Roaring Fork near Carbondale, Colorado. 25 to 30 minutes to Aspen skiing, 20 minutes to Glenwood Springs and its famous hot springs, and less than 10 minutes to Carbondale. This is the ONLY ground floor, walkout, pond side condo for short term rent at the Ranch. 2 walk-out patios off 2 bedrooms and family room all overlooking beautiful pond home to trout, Canadian geese, ducks and swans, with peak of Mt. Sopris in the background.

The Ranch offers excellent fly fishing. There are approximately 350 acres of open space, 2 miles of the Roaring Fork River, and approximately 8 miles of other creeks and ponds on the property. Your rental comes with two fishing badges. Please note: this is a catch and release, fly fishing with barbless hooks only property. No more than 2 people can fish on the property per day, each with one badge. Sorry, spin casting is not permitted under any circumstances, although it is permitted off our property.

The people at the Ranch work hard to protect and preserve the fishing resource. It is a privilege to fish at the Ranch, and we ask that everyone be stewards of this resource and treat the fish with respect by returning them quickly and properly to the water.

In addition to the Ranch property, you are minutes from the Colorado, Frying Pan and Crystal Rivers--this is why Glenwood Springs is ranked the number 1 fishing town in America.

Spend evenings relaxing with your family or friends on one of the pond-side patios with their stunning views. Grill dinner on the gas grill and eat on the picnic table equipped with an umbrella.

This is a terrific family vacation spot. Executive golf course, tennis, cross-country skiing, children's playground, mountain biking and hiking, ALL ON OUR 350 ACRES. 20 mins to hot springs pools. Close to horseback riding, whitewater rafting, and bike path stretching from Glenwood Springs to Aspen and Carbondale towards Redstone. Casual to fine dining. World class skiing and (expensive) shopping 30 minutes away in Aspen.

About John

My wife and I have lived in Denver since 1982. Our family, including our two daughters, have owned a condo in this development for 23 years. My daughters grew up vacationing in this development. Our family routinely uses this condominium.

John purchased this condo in 2008

Why John chose Northwest Colorado

We purchased a condo at the Ranch at Roaring Fork because it has all the outdoor activities we love. We hike, cross-country ski, bike, play tennis and golf (executive course) right in the development. There is excellent fly fishing on the property (maximum two fisher folks per day, catch and release only). There is a new children's playground. We also love to ski Aspen and it takes only 25 minutes to drive there. Our daughters love the Ranch--it is a great family getaway. Additionally, we love to sit on the patio overlooking the pond and enjoy the solitude and wildlife.

What makes this condo unique

25 to 30 minutes to world class skiing; tennis, golf, biking, walking and fly fishing--all on the property. Excellent dining in charming Carbondale less than 10 minutes away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for letting us stay this past week! We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the property. Our daughter got to fish a couple of times and we were able to view the wonderful color changes throughout the valley.

No issues whatsoever! We look forward to booking more time up there.

The Perfect Spot

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in this condo several times. It is well stocked for cooking, laundry, and bath. It is always clean and comfortable. The location is perfect between Glenwood Springs and Aspen with many smaller towns in between. This gated community sits on the Roaring Fork River and is an ideal spot for trout fishing, with many man made streams and small lakes throughout the property. There are strict rules for use but none unreasonable and you never feel crowded. The Crystal and Frying Pan rivers are just a short drive away. The property is well maintained. There is a small golf course and corrals for horses. We appreciate the care and upkeep the owners take and we would highly recommend a stay. The two bedrooms each have a full bath with plenty of closet space and they offer much privacy since they are divided by the living/dining area. Each bedroom has a king size bed and in the living area a sofa bed could accommodate children. There is one TV in the living area and a fireplace if needed. You have quick access to grocery stores, restaurants, etc. in nearby Carbondale. It is a convenient and relaxing place to stay!

Ranch at Roaring Fork Condo

  • 5 of 5

Condo was clean and very comfortable. Great location; steps to the lake in back where the wary trout haunted us in the evening; never did figure them out. Ranch at RF is a great venue with fishing, tennis, and golf available on site. John and his wife Pam are excellent hosts, offering to help with dinner selections and other activities. While we didn't take them up on their offer I'm sure that their recommendations would be great. I hope to be back next year.

Fishing solitude

  • 5 of 5

This condo is our go to place when visiting the Roaring Fork valley. The location is close to a variety of outdoor activities but the main attraction for me is being able to fish the 2 miles of private Roaring Fork River along with numerous ponds and small streams and not having to deal with the crowds. If you want to teach a youngster to fly fish you couldn't ask for a better place.

Very comfortable, well equipped and totally exceeded expectations

  • 5 of 5

We booked this condo whilst we were in Colorado to drop our son off to boarding school. We found the condo in immaculate condition and the owner John extremely accommodating. The location was superb and easy to find. details given on accessing the condo perfect and easy to follow. My husband and son spent several days fly fishing on the waters which they really enjoyed. Amazingly comfortable beds. Very peaceful and serene. Located between Carbondale and Basalt we found plenty of places to eat and drink, and the necessary provisioning trips in Glenwood easy to access. We did the white water rafting tour with Extreme Mountain Expeditions which was fantastic albeit the waters were low but the guides incredibly amusing and informative. We will be back several times over the next few years and will definitely stay again...

Incredible property, wonderful location and beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

I had the most incredible time at this condo. The place was incredibly clean, the family was very helpful and accommodating and always answered questions and gave recommendations when I needed it. The property itself is on this beautiful river facing the mountains and it has these beautiful sunsets every day that you get to watch from the back porch. It's minutes away from really great hiking, the town of Carbondale (lots of fun- good restaurants, shops, bars, music, etc) and close to Aspen itself. I feel like I got really lucky to stay here with a massive condo that had lots of room, friendly neighbors, a great location, and everything I needed very close by. I would highly recommend it.
