|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Nestled amid seven lush acres of woods, meadows, and marshlands, awaits this peaceful retreat. A spacious deck provides spectacular ocean views of the Elizabeth Islands. The country location, rich in wildlife and fresh air, is only outdone by the surrounding coastline. Rolling fields overlook a saltwater pond, beaches, and the entrance to Buzzards Bay. A ten minute walk leads to a beautiful swimming beach. There are many other beaches in the area to explore and enjoy as well, including the Nature Conservancy's Quicksand Pond/Goosewing Beach Preserve and the Westport Land Conservation Trust's Richmond Pond Wildlife Sanctuary.
We stayed in this home for a week in July for vacation. This house has everything a family needs to have an enjoyable stay. Actually the house is quite large and can easily accommodate 2 families. The setting is quite picturesque and relaxing. The owners are very attentive and will help in any way so that you may enjoy your stay. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!
The home lies on the east side of Brayton Point Road, two thirds down the road, adjacent to Richmond Pond and just over the Rhode Island/Massachusetts border. Providence is a forty minute drive away. So is Newport, but in a different direction. Boston is an hour and a half drive away.
Other Activities: Westport prides itself in being 'a right to farm community.' Hence, while visiting you will have to try the fresh, local fruits and vegetables from any of the many roadside farm stands. Add some freshly caught seafood and wine from the award winning winery in town to get a more flavorful taste of the area. Enjoy the region's biggest attraction, its pristine beaches! Nearby nature walks abound as well. With a local kayak rental, one can explore the extensive Westport River system. From the largest nearby city and port, New Bedford, there are daily ferries to and from Cuttyhunk Island and Martha's Vineyard, as well as fishing charters for hire. For all landlubbers, one can discover the area's rich history at the New Bedford Whaling Museum and richer yet at the Breakers Mansion and Museum in Newport, Rhode Island.
