About Joan Lowe

Eric and Joan own the home and manage it together. We both teach college courses and have 3 grown sons and 3 daughter-in-laws. We live in the Portland area and look forward to the day when we can retire to Seaside.

Joan Lowe purchased this townhome in 2003

Why Joan Lowe chose Coastal Oregon

We bought this home for the beautiful and serene neighborhood, so we would have a great place to stay in Seaside. We completely remodeled it and then decided we should share it with others. We enjoy staying here frequently ourselves.

What makes this townhome unique

We love parking the car and walking to great restaurants and shops, all along the prom where we can view the beach. We also leave a pair of bikes there and we love to ride around Seaside on bikes. Adding the hot tub and fire pit and renovating the back yard have added a lot to the properties appeal.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My kids and I have spent a week here every year the past three years and we will keep returning. Every year there are new things and it just keeps looking cuter and cuter. Loved the new beds! New hot tub and landscaping are bonuses! We return because we love the quiet neighborhood, close proximity to the beach, and nice short walk to the prom/downtown area. We are already picking our week for next April!

Great Stay in Seaside

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed having the extra space this cozy 2 bedroom home offered. The hot tub was an added bonus and we enjoyed it each morning we were there. Just a short walk to the beach or drive into town (5 blocks or so) and park for immediate access to the shops and food. The furniture was quite comfortable. My wife and I sleep on a high end memory foam bed at home so we are a bit snobbish when it comes to our sleep. Therefore I would say that the only slightly disappointing feature in the home is the mattresses. One is very firm, the second is very firm with a topper on it that doesn't help out much. The bed with the topper also is very noisy when turning over or moving at all on the bed. It would not dissuade us from staying here again though, as we struggle with the quality of the mattress in many hotels we stay in also. The owners were wonderful to deal with, providing us with great information before our arrival and quickly responded to the questions we had about closing up the house before departure. If we get back to Seaside any time soon we would strongly consider renting this home again!

Great little place!

  • 5 of 5

Clean and cozy...big enough for 4 and two dogs comfortably. Joan was easy to get ahold of with any questions. Close to downtown, beach....we walked everywhere! And close to High School (if your traveling for basketball tournaments...big plus!). Thank you guys....we'd love to come back sometime!

We stayed 3 nights at the Villa.

  • 3 of 5

I was rather disappointed in this rental. Master bedroom bed was rather high to get in. We are in our late 50's...could use a step stool.

Uncomfortable living room furniture, particularly sofa.

Found dust clinging to walls.

Sand in dresser in master bedroom.

Great location to town and owners communicate well when making reservation.

First impression was nice then things changed very fast.

  • 2 of 5

3rd drawer that was opened in kitchen fell apart in many pieces. First the knob then the sides. The mini blind in the dinning room dropped to the floor numerous times. Upon examination the blinds were just "sitting" in the brackets and not attached. 5 people in the house for several days with 1 1/2 rolls of toilet paper. Note did say to call if need anything but really? 4 bath towels for 5 people. Yes there was washer and dryer. Which brings up another strange frequent occurrence. Different people going in and out of garage. Noise all nightlong, people leaving, moving things around. Um I thought notes left all over on web sight and in house said please keep noise down after ten. Ten at night or ten in morning? Different people each night upstairs. Not very secure feeling. Will be doing more research before staying again at Seaside. Not sure how much of this the owners know is going on and may want to have a talk with house cleaners and also how their place is rented out as the comings and goings upstairs seemed very sketchy to everyone.

Enjoyable stay in a quiet neighborhood.

  • 5 of 5

The house was located at the end of a dead end street that made for quiet evenings for a soak in the hot Tub or sitting around the fire. The beach was 3 blocks away and was an easy walk to get there. The outside shower next to the hot tub made it easy to clean up after the beach (even hot water). The house was well equipped with the items needed for a comfortable stay.

The owners provided us with great instructions for accessing the house and also suggestions for things to do.
