This is a beautiful island get away within 20-25 minutes from Charleston.
Quietly nested in the marsh this home sits on just over 2.2 acres and is rustic with many modern touches. You have unobstructed expansive marsh/river views and unbelievable sunsets. The dock and floating dock provide access to the Leadenwah River and on out to the ocean.
Bring your boat, kayak, canoe, sailboat and any other water equipment you wish. If it is no more than 19 feet you can keep at the dock and time the tides to come in and out. You would need to put in at Cherry Point Marina and come around, it is a longer and windy boat ride. If you have a john boat for fishing, kayak/canoe or jet ski come in and out all day long. Fish away and crab until your heart desires. You can bring a Bocci Ball game, Badminton set, Croquet, or horseshoes are all fun to play in the yard!
We have plenty of blue crabs to feed the family. Jump in off the dock and swim the river.. We love to!
Enjoy the saline pool only a few years old. We have a tree house for the youngsters, adult supervision please. Tree swings by the river edge, walk down the dirt road, or just kick back on the screened in porch under the ceiling fan for a puzzle.
Note: The house is "Camp" and country, shabby shic, it is a little rough around the edges, old paint splatters on floor, uneven paint and mismatch furniture. The country brings more dirt and bugs if you are desire turn down service and a perfect house this is not the house for you. It is comfortable and folks love that they can be comfortable there.
If the nights are cool you can have a fire in the large fire place.

What a great place this was .we came in with 8 adults and 4 kids and 2 small dogs .accomodations are rustic comfortable a perfect place for a big family .we brought our kayaks and my favorite time was paddeling at sunrise were as the younger crowd slept in .they went for some great paddeling at sunset .the pool was a life saver with the kids even after a few hours on the beach they would go straight in the pool again while adults relaxed on the porch or pool deck.we had one huge crab dinner with the crabs we got of the dock, augmented with the sea trouts we caught .the view ,location this was truly lowcountry at its best .
Owner keeling was great to work with ,best stocked kitchen I have encountered in a rental house yet .It was everything and more as promised
I could go on and on about the great time we had here .
Anne thank you very much for your kind words. I am so happy you enjoyed yourself and had a good time on vacation. I love how you called it rustic comfortable and that is exactly what it is, a place to hang and be comfortable. You were a delight to have I hope you revisit us again.
First look of the outside beautiful! Inside needs a lot of repair.
Our first impression was a bit undesirable. There are broken windows in the door leading into the mud room. The furniture is very old and stained. The beds had sheets on them that were not removed from whoever stayed there last. One of the trundle beds was broken so we couldn’t pull it out to use it. Opening the windows was scary due to how dirty they were. Cups in the cubbbard were dirty as well as the carpets were stained and dirty. With all that being said, we had a amazing time staying at the house. The house had enough room for all of us to sleep (even though someone had to sleep on a sofa due to the broken trundle bed). An extra bathroom would have been great but we knew going in that it only had 2 and half baths for all of us to share. The screened in porch is great especially in the morning to enjoy your coffee as well as the beautiful scenery. Even though it was chilly our children took advantage of the pool for a few minutes and enjoyed zip lining. The dock was nice to walk down to in the morning. I would recommend this house to a large family looking to spend a few days together. I took pictures of the issues we found that were concerning and dangerous. I am not sure who to send those to but feel they should be reviewed.
Thank you for opening your house to us!!!
Our family enjoyed every minute
My sister's family and my family stayed here for Thanksgiving. We had plenty of room and the kitchen had everything we needed. The owner was wonderful, the whole process was very easy. We gathered around the huge fireplace every night. Socialized on the screened in porch during the day. My son's girlfriend from Germany enjoyed catching the crabs off the dock. If you are looking for a laid back week or weekend, I recommend to look no further
Nice country home
We had a fantastic time staying in this house.Looks like an old brick house on the outside but the inside is great.Plenty of room for everybody.Nice updated kitchen with everything you need.Everbody loved the swimming pool.Fishing outback is great for the kids at high tide with bobbers.Blue crab fishing is fantastic here.Just bait crab pot throw in middle at low tide and come back 12hrs later 20 crab Everytime.Nobody bothers you here except maybe the donkey next door when his owner comes home.He sure is happy to see him.Keelin is great. If you send her a message with any questions she answers quickly. This was one of are best home rentals we have ever had. Thanks for letting us stay in your home.
Wedding Get away
We had a great time at our sons wedding staying here. There are a few things that need to be repaired but overall what we were looking for!!
Summer family reunion.
13 family members from 4 states met here for a week. It is a wonderful location and all enjoyed being there. Sitting on the screen porch, getting in the pool and walking out on the dock were the favorite activities. We visited several beaches and Charleston. The age ranges of the family were 20 months to 66 years. Plenty for all to enjoy.
Beach goers Kiawah Island has a public beach not too far, or bring your boat put in at Cherry Point Boat Landing & head out to a private beach. Time the tide right & bring your boat 19-21ft back to our dock. Kayak, canoe, fish, sail, crab, swim, tub or boat right off our dock down the Leadenwah. Drive or just walk down the dirt road of the village of Rockville. A must see tiny community, feel you have just stepped back into time while the live oaks drape down and envelop you. In the mood for fresh shrimp or the catch of the day? East Coast or Cherry Point Boat Landing docks can help. Ready for a glass of wine? Also, the nations only working tea plantation is on the island, tours are offered. Ambrose Family Farm has u-pick organic veggies and fruits. Angel Oak Tree is a must see an ancient MAMMOTH beauty! If you aren't interested in doing a thing just sit on the back porch under the fan and read. Enjoy!!
