About Robert Reddick

I am a contractor and I designed and built the home in 2003. I lived in the house with my family for 3 years until I built the main house next door. We are in a very private, exclusive neighborhood on the waterfront of the St Lawrence River main shipping channel. The main house is right next door and is our year round home. We are around the home most the time and are available to offer up any advice you may want regarding attractions in our area. We do however work full time and we are not around during the day, making the house, pool, and dock area very private.

Robert Reddick purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Robert Reddick chose Thousand Islands

This is one of the best vacation rentals in the area! The location is in a private exclusive neighborhood and really convenient and close to downtown Alex Bay. The house is very well appointed with a modern kitchen, 2 full baths and a full laundry. We include all linen and towels, a fully equipped kitchen, a gas barbecue, and all the necessities. The base rate covers everything to include the large dock, the fire pit with fire wood, trash removal and the cleanup after departure. There are no hidden fees or charges! Bring a boat or rent one from us.

Gorgeous view but the property needs some TLC

  • 4 of 5

We found this location to be very nice and the views and the owners were exceptional. It offered everything we were looking for in a location and proximity to the water. The dock was just amazing and, if you've never experienced this waterway, it's clear and beautiful. But, we renovate properties and maybe we're too critical but in our opinion, the place needs some TLC. For example, the peeling paint at the front door and its surrounding trim set the set the stage for us right up front. The fire pit, while exquisitely positioned overlooking the water, shows crumbling masonry and grasses and weeds that grow through the stone patio surrounding it. Some of the lights on the lovely stairs that take you to the dock dangle from their posts without their covers. When we arrived the dishwasher was still filled dishes from the previous guest and the drawer front to the stove was off and resting against the stove. The refrigerator still had food in it from the previous guest. The owners are lovely and extremely busy and when told of the refrigerator and dishes were very apologetic noting that this was unacceptable to them. Still, while these types of things and the other examples not sited here, are probably insignificant for many people, in our eyes it showed a lack of oversight and general property maintenance.

Beautiful home with amazing riverfront location

  • 5 of 5

The photos don't reveal the beauty and serenity of the location. Everything was as described with plenty of space and a lovely balcony with gas grill to enjoy our meals while watching the big ships go by. The kitchen was well equipped and my daughter loved the loft bedroom. The AC was perfect upstairs and a little cooler downstairs. The place was very clean and anything we needed Rob was quick to respond. The owners, Rob and Abbie, were so friendly and even invited us to their pool party. Use of the pool at the main house was delightful and fishing off the dock was fabulous as my daughter and husband caught some large bass. This is a beautiful location for walking as well and our little dog enjoyed the morning walks. Great hidden gem in a fabulous location, easy access to the Price Chopper nearby and short drive to ABay center and Clifton. We were treated like millionaires on "Millionaires Row."

Amazing Property!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time! The pictures don't do it justice. Our hosts were wonderful and eager to make our stay perfect! Spent several nights on the deck and at the fire pit with friends! Alex Bay is a great little town with many attractions, restaurants and bars. Spent time in Clayton and Kingston too! Our favorite restaurant was Bella's in Clayton. Would stay here again and again!

Breath-taking views and amazing surroundings

  • 5 of 5

The photo's didn't do it justice. The cottage is so comfortable, warm and inviting. My kids loved playing shuffleboard, sitting on the deck watching the ships go by, YES- exciting for a family from New Jersey to see these huge ships go by, the amazing fire-pit on the top of the edge with the great views, as well as, walking steps away to the dock to go swimming in the river and lounging on our floats, just so beautiful and picturesque.

Exceeded All Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We have been vacationing at Alexandria Bay for over 30 years, and this was by far the best ever! From the moment we arrived, all of our expectations were exceeded! "The Cottage" was perfect in every way. The property and views are spectacular. We brought our boat and our friends brought their kayak and bicycles. We enjoyed the dock, the pool, the river, fishing, boating, kayaking, nights by the fire pit with views of Boldt Castle lit up like the Magic Kingdom, playing shuffle board, bacci ball, days relaxing at the property, walks and shopping in town, breakfast one morning at the Riveredge, and dinner one evening at Cavalario's. We all wish we could have stayed for the entire summer. Thank you to Rob Reddick for being so friendly and generous in sharing his cottage and property! And, Rhett and Frisco added to the experience. They are such beautiful furry friends! We look forward to going back to the cottage, hopefully for many years to come! We want to share it with many more friends and family members. We have always thought that Alexandria Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the United States -- now I can also add that it is like heaven on earth!

Best week ever

  • 5 of 5

Our family has been fortunate enough to spend a week for the past 3 years at the cottage. First the accomadations are first class, comfortable, and relaxing. location is convient to dining shopping, and a range of activities. Surronding are spectular, and the sunsets unforgetable. In all you can not find a better place to vacation. I highly reccommend this property, I am sure you will find your time memorable. Bob, and Jane Gross and family

Notes:
This is a spectacular property in a private neighborhood, with world class sunsets, up close views of the St Lawrence Seaway, and in the heart of the 1000 Islands. We are conveniently located on the mainland close to the highway and walking distance to the village of Alexandria Bay. Our large dock is a great place to hang out on the water and the swimming is deep and clean! We have ample free dock space for your boat or our rental pontoon. The outdoor fire pit overlooks the main channel and features a spectacular view of Boldt Castle! The home is 10 years old and was custom built by the contractor/owner and has many unique details and finishes. This is a one of kind vacation property and has too many amenities to mention! Whether it is a family getaway, a romantic holiday, a small event or several friends looking for a great place to stay together, You will not be disappointed!!
