Charming 1890s farm house located on a quiet, lightly traveled street 3 blocks from the Williams College campus. This well-maintained home sleeps 5 upstairs in the air conditioned master bedroom and guest bedroom, each with a queen bed. There is a twin bed in the study, which is a pass-through room to the master bedroom. The upstairs bathroom features a clawfoot tub with shower. An additional shower is located in the updated, full bathroom downstairs. The kitchen comes fully-equipped, with microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and blender. Conveniently located on the first floor is a washer and dryer. The living room has television with basic cable and a DVD player, and Wifi is accessible throughout the house. Outside, the front porch swing and side garden make it simple to enjoy the outdoors while taking in the soothing sounds of nearby Hemlock Brook.
What a wonderful little farmhouse. It's cozy, charming, and so Williamstown-y. My friends and I felt right at home. We're Williams alumni, so we particularly appreciated how close the house is to campus. The beds and couches are very comfortable, the kitchen/linen closets/bathrooms have everything you need, and the house is in great shape, but with plenty of character (a claw-footed bathtub!).
This house worked out perfectly for our visit to Williamstown. It’s on a quiet side street within walking distance to town and the College, and services are just down the road. The space is rustic and comfortable, with wood beams and floors, in a setting with the rural feeling of the Berkshires. It has no AC, but the breeze blew through the screened windows and it was very comfortable on a summer-like day. The layout of the rooms upstairs and the two bathrooms made it very flexible for the use of our extended family of two couples and several kids.
We were a family of four looking to spend a few days welcoming the arrival of the new year in Williamstown. We couldn't have found a better place. When we arrived, it was a pitch black, frigid night in the teens, but the house was wonderfully pre-heated (thanks to the property manager's foresight) and as cozy, immaculate and charming as one could have hoped for.
Over the course of the next few days, we enjoyed sleeping late in the wonderfully comfortable beds and warm house, preparing our meals in the excellently equipped kitchen, accessing local information over the Web via the house's robust wifi, and exploring the neighborhood and nearby town on foot. Everything in the house worked perfectly. The owner Marie was a delight to work with in arranging the rental, as was the property manager in getting the house ready for us.
We'd stay again in a heartbeat!
This renovated farmhouse is cozy and inviting. The layout works really well for two couples, or a family, the kitchen is well stocked with tools and equipment, the beds are comfortable and the location is really convenient. It is just a few minutes away from Mass MOCA, hikes and the center of town.
We really enjoyed our stay and will return.
The house is ideally located an easy walk from Spring St. and the rest of Williamstown. It has a great backyard and is just a very cool space. Also has the most comfortable beds in the world!
We absolutely loved our stay here. The house is charming -- decorated in "farmhouse chic" with gorgeous wood floor boards that have to be more than a foot wide. The house is neat as a pin, and the furniture, lamps, and other amenities (including a washing machine that plays tunes when the cycle is complete, a bunch of DVDs, wonderful family games, novels, maps and brochures of the area, and even a cookbook!) make the house feel like home.
There is a very nice view of a babbling river out the back windows, and a lovely side yard, equipped with grill and table and chairs. The house is 3 blocks from Williams College, yet is is on a very quiet, laid-back street with trees galore. Check-in and check-out was a snap and the house manager was very nice. As other reviewers noted, the pictures simply don't do the house justice.
We will be back, hopefully soon!
The house is three blocks west of the Williams College campus and less than a mile from Spring Street, which has restaurants, a coffee house, movie theater, and post office. The Clark and Williams College Museums are also walking distance from the house. Mt. Greylock is 12 miles away, with easy to strenuous hiking trails and a vehicle road to the summit. The Ashuwillticook Rail Trail off Route 8 (13 miles away) is a very scenic and flat bike trail that doubles as a cross country ski route in winter; bikes can be rented at nearby Berkshire Outfitters. Jiminy Peak (14 mi.) is the closest ski resort, with a mountain coaster that is also open in summer. Fishing, boating, and a sandy beach for swimming can be found at Grafton Lakes State Park, NY (18 mi.). Cricket Creek Farm (5.5 mi.) is fun to visit, where you can find cheeses and handmade goods available for sale at their farm store.
