We (a group of 5 adults) had an excellent NY experience during easter week of 2017. The apartment totally met our expectations from the pictures and description on the website, excellent value for money. Peter, our landlord, met us upon arrival handing over keys and giving a short presentation of the flat and the neighborhood. He was most helpful on practicals and suggestion on what to do and see in the area. With 3 subway lines within walking distance the appartment is well situated for doing Brooklyn and the rest of NYC. I can higly recommend staying at Peter's. Only things to consider is if 1 Bathroom is good enough for You - with 5 people in the flat this naturally queed things up a bit in the morning :-) - and the kitchenette is fine for making breakfast/tea/coffee but not fit for advanced cooking.
When my friends and I arrived the unit wasn't quite ready so Peter invited us into his home for a beer and some stories of the neighborhood. It was fascinating to hear the history. Before we could finish the beer, the unit was ready. It was just what we needed. The rooms were very comfortable and had that historic charm to them. But we didn't stay there too long because there was so much to see, eat and drink. The unit is blocks away from the East River as well as the Brooklyn Heights Promenades, both absolutely stunning. To tell you how conveniently located the unit is, on our first full day, we walked to lower Manhattan, toured the Statue of Liberty, visited the 911 Memorial, saw the sunset from the top of the One World Center, had beer in quart styrofoam cups from the self proclaimed last dive bar in Manhattan, and walked back over the Brooklyn Bridge to get home. A lot of walking, but it shows you the convenience of this unit's location. On our next day, we walked around Brooklyn sampling the various bars and restaurants (though we that would take a year to do it justice as there were bars and restaurants everywhere!). So whether you want to tour Manhattan or enjoy the tastes of Brooklyn, this unit is ideal. Very highly recommended!!
This apartment was much bigger than it looks on the photos, the bedrooms were a great size for a 3 bed space.
Great hosts, so accommodating.
It is a walk up but even with little ones it worked out fine.
My daughter had a 1 & 2 year old & the hosts aloud us to take their cribs & they easily fit:)
Locations is perfect with the store/cafes & restaurants on Atlantic & the Parks nearby.
Definitely worth the $$
Flat is very spacious and was a great base for our family of five with kids sleeping in the bedrooms and the adults in the queen sofabed in the living room. Location is fantastic, allowing quick access to downtown Manhattan but a lot more relaxed!
I stayed here with my brother and close friend for our first trip to New York. We found the apartment to be just what we needed. Clean and with its own charm and personality. We were very comfortable and felt very at ease. We didn't eat in, preferring instead to eat at one the many and good nearby cafe's and restaurants. The apartment is very well located. Hicks Street itself is quiet and lovely neighbourhood to wonder around. Various subway lines are within a few minutes walk, making it easy to travel to most areas of Manhattan, even if this is just for an evening The host was very friendly. Booking was hassle free. You are left very much to your own devices but is comforting to know that he is close at hand if needed.
The apartment was a short walk from the subways, shopping and a choice of restaurants.
The owners were friendly and helpful before and during the stay and very easy going.
The apartment was clean, roomy and had all you need for a trip to NY.
Easy to get to manhatten and all you want to see in Brooklyn Heights area.
Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.
