8/22/2009 New York, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, California, Balcombe, U.K. My family absolutely loved staying at Catherine's house in Vineyard Haven the week of August 15. The house was beautiful and had everything that we needed to feed and entertain all 16 of us (9 adults; 7 children, including an infant). We mostly used the enormous eat-in kitchen (2 shifts – for children and then adults) and den attached, the second floor TV room (where the older children spent most of their time), and every bedroom in the house. We barely went into the formal dining room, the parlor and the front living room, yet we always felt that there was enough space. We were thrilled that there were two pack and plays for the infant and one of the toddlers to sleep in. The house worked well for both my parents who are in their 70's and the younger 2 & 4 yr olds and everyone in between. There were books and games that could engage everyone. Luckily, we had gorgeous weather so we could easily walk to the many ice cream shops, Stop& Shop, the park/beach and a cool bookstore, which were all within 5 short blocks. The house was a great starting point for 4-5 mile runs up to the West Chop lighthouse or to the beach at Lake Tashmoo. Several times we used the MV Transit bus to go to Oak Bluffs, Edgartown and Katama. We never felt that we needed more than two cars for all of us. If we choose to have our family reunion on Martha’s Vineyard again, we would definitely want to return. Thank you, Catherine & Russell!
My family and I have been vacationing on the island for many years now!! 92 Main is by far our favorite spot!!!! From its spectacular location, gorgeous property, extremely spacious and immaculate home , to its overly generous owner....you couldn't ask for better accommodations!!! We hope to spend lots more time here, making many more foever lasting memories!! Thank you Catherine
Straight from the mouth our 10 year old...."Best vacation house everrrr!!!"
We converged on this spectacular home, again, for a reunion weekend. It couldn't have been more perfect. The comfortable, spotless rooms with cozy bedding, are just the beginning. The entire home has beautiful furnishings, superb conveniences and a perfect location. The wrap around porch, lovely patio and second story deck provide great outdoor spaces to compliment the fabulous interiors. I have recommended this property to others and can't wait for our next visit.
I have rented at least 15 high-end properties through VRBO and Catherine's magnificent, roomy, meticulously maintained, beautifully appointed and conveniently located home takes the proverbial cake. And Catherine herself was on call 24/7 and enormously helpful.
I recently spent 5 days at this lovely house. Four couples from across the country met here for a reunion and we had a fabulous time, due to a large extent to our stay at 92 Main Street. This house is extremely comfortable, carefully and lovingly decorated, and large enough to accommodate all of us. We originally planned for 6 couples and the house would have easily and comfortably held all 12 of us. The location on Main Street is perfect. While shops, restaurants, and the Ferry are all within easy walking distance, the house is situated so there is also a feeling of privacy. I look forward to a return stay and highly recommend 92 Main St.
Having a "scent sensitivity" requires (on my part) an enormous amount of preplanning, again on my part. However, to my delight, Catherine was more than helpful regarding scented laundry soap, soaps of every sort (hand soap, dish soap dishwasher soap, etc.), and cleaning products, providing a "scent free" environment especially for me. This requires a lot of work on behalf of the innkeeper, especially with regard to a house with seven bedrooms, different levels, and almost as many bathrooms. I had NO problem whatsoever, and I found her planning, not to mention ingenuity with signs letting folks know they were entering a "scent-free" environment, a huge, welcomed accomplishment.
Not only does this innkeeper give helpful hints with a complete description of the house and its workings, but many informational books regarding Martha's Vineyard, places of interest, restaurant info, and a very "well stocked" panty full of spices, oils/vinegars, and other staples to which we were told to just help ourselves.
My stay was delightful for so many reasons, but as an asthma sufferer, I never had to worry about finding my health affected by scent of any kind.
Couldn't have enjoyed myself more, even the desperate call for help with the "cable box" when the power went out temporarily, was met with a willing innkeeper braving the fierce wind and rain to come to our rescue! Can't thank you enough Catherine, just loved our stay!
That is the best way we can describe our stays at 92 Main. My wife and I have been invited to stay with some great friends for a week at this beautiful house. We have now been there 4 years running and it is our most enjoyable vacation. We travel to many locations around the country but this is truly our favorite destination. The accommodations are just amazing. The location of the place is fabulous. Walking distance to a nice quaint beach for the kids and parents to enjoy. The house offers you the best of both worlds. You can relax on the porch and read a book or have a large family gathering in the wonderful kitchen/dining area. There are shops and restaurants just a few feet away- Warning-you may be subject to gaining weight if you go for ice cream and fudge each night. We have always found the owner to be the most accommodating host. I did see one negative comment on VRBO. I will never understand how anyone could be disappointed with staying at this home. Looking forward to many more years at 92 MAIN!!!!
