Two spacious and luxurious bedrooms, one spacious loft (adults can stand in the loft), three bathrooms (one with Jacuzzi), directly on the beach with boardwalk through the grass, multiple flat Screen TVs, VCR's, and DVD' s, free wireless high speed internet access, plenty of rockers on the beach-overlooking decks. Hot and cold outdoor shower.

Great central island location, just steps to island playground, shops, and restaurants. There is no need to take a chance anywhere else!

St. George Island has no highrises and is a family friendly, relaxing break in the Gulf of Mexico. It is central to Florida's largest eco-tourism area. Come try it out! Once people discover the area they always come back.

LENGTH OF RENTAL

Boardwalk offers only weekly stays for Summer (June, July, the last week of May, and the first week of August.)

Reservations for less than a week may be made for Spring and Fall depending upon property availability and approval. (It is usually available to be booked within 1 month of the arrival day.)

There is also a 5 night minimum stay during some holidays except last minute.

Flea-treated Dogs only.

1.Up to one week rental: $60 for up to two dogs.

$35 each extra dog

2. Monthly rental: $135 up to two dogs

About Reggie Ratcliff

We are a family of 4 living in the Metro Atlanta area. We're all nature lovers and love traveling and spending time outdoors. In the summer of 2003 we vacationed on SGI and loved it completely and returned a month later to look for a place to call our own and we bought 'Hang Ten' in September.

Hang Ten is so popular with return guests that we had little chance to visit it ourselves. We began looking for another house to balance with Hang Ten and in 2007 we bought a cottage called 'Boardwalk'. With two houses on SGI we are able to go there often and take care of the properties and enjoy sharing them with guests.

Our goal is to make our guests happy.

In 2013 we will start to manage the properties ourselves, with the help of Community Management Services, Inc. (CMSI). We are very fortunate to have found CMSI - a very experienced, St. George Island-based company - to handle the housekeeping and maintenance for us. They can provide a more cusotmized service for our houses and their goals include a very welcoming house upon your arrival and no need for service calls.

Fun fabulous house in perfect location!!!

We just returned from a week at The Boardwalk. It was our first time visiting St George Island. I hate to let the secret out....but this place is AMAZING!! We loved the fun decor of The Boardwalk. Decorated very nice. Unit was very clean. We have 4 kids so there was a great amount of space for 6 of us. Very helpful to have 3 full bathrooms. We have previously stayed in condos on the upper coast and thoroughly enjoyed The Boardwalk and the very quick walk to the beach and back to the house. At condos it was always a time consuming production to load up coolers, beach toys etc to go the beach-at The Boardwalk we could just run back whenever we needed (helpful for cocktail refills!!) :-). And finally the location on SGI was perfect! We didn't drive our van the entire week! Everything was within walking distance and we enjoyed our nightly walks to dinner exploring the island. There are also two ice cream shops right across the way and an Italian ice a quick walk away. SGI was the perfect way to experience "island life" right here in the states! It is a relaxed atmosphere with very little commercialization. Beautiful starry nights can be seen since there are no high rises. We spent the days playing in the ocean, watching dolphins (my favorite!) and at night had fun seeing the crabs run the beach. Thank you SGI and The Boardwalk for the incredible week....already looking forward to returning!!

Boardwalk

The house is in a perfect location and the beach is beautiful. It is pet friendly and our dogs really enjoyed the beach. The outdoor shower was great for cleaning them, and they could dry on one of the decks. The home is furnished like an investment rental with plastic dining chairs and a variety of furniture styles. It does have a monopoly theme decor which was unique.

One I would not mention but, we did see a number of roaches. I am sure people leave the deck doors open and they invite themselves in. I have owned a number of beachfront properties and Florida Pest control does a good job of making sure that homes remain pest free.

It does have flat screen TVs in every room, but they are very small. Not a problem for the bedrooms, but the house definitely needs a larger TV in the main room. If you enjoy cooking the kitchen is only just adequate and lacks some basic needs. It had no can opener and we tried to purchase one, but none of the stores had them. (We ended up using an old fashioned bottle opener that we purchased and opened punched holes in the cans until we could get the lids off.) It has a good grill conveniently located at the foot of the deck stairs.

The owners require that you not only run the dish washer but empty the dish washer on your checkout day. Fortunately, we noticed the requirement and washed the dishes the night before and did not cook as we did not want to wait on the dishwasher. All things considered we had a good time

Owner's Response: Thank you for the detailed review; we appreciate details we can work with for improvement. We apologize for any bugs encountered. We do have a monthly pest control visit and that has been sufficient previously - but this year the unusual amount of rain has increased bug sightings all over the island. So we have scheduled extra visits. We also thank you for mentioning the dishwasher, we honestly had not intended our instructions to be understood quite that way, but after checking we agree that they do need re-wording: On check-out day, please load any remaining dirty dishes and start the dishwasher.  And we may contact you for more details about what you found lacking in the kitchen. We have prepared many meals including Christmas and Thanksgiving there as a test of the furnishings, yet realize that different cooking styles may have different needs. And of course there should be a can opener there, we will correct that. And finally, thank you for choosing Boardwalk and we hope you will come back to visit us again!

Just as advertised

This property was just as advertised. Nothing was over-promised or lacking from the description. What was described online is what we got when we showed up. We had a fantastic time. The convenient access to the beach and the view was the best feature.

Amazing location!

Overall we were impressed with our stay. The location could not have been more perfect for us. We have a young son and the house is a 45 second walk from the beach, which was perfect for nap time! There were some minor issues when we first arrived regarding the cleanliness of the house, but we contacted the owner and he took care of things right away! The cleaning crew came back out the same day and spruced things up. We were also very thankful this house had a baby gate! It saved us!
