Overview

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Futon in Living Room, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Escape to a beautiful, picturesque log cabin in Glen Haven, Colorado. This private cabin is located one-quarter mile from the main road and is the ideal get-a-way retreat for a cozy, relaxing get-a-way vacation for a couple or small family. The cabin is on the North Fork of the Big Thompson River just 15 minutes from Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Glen Haven is surrounded by Roosevelt National Forest (designated wilderness area). This is a great spot to stage your hiking, photography, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, biking, or other outdoor activities within the great Rocky Mountains, or just relax. This cozy cabin is one bedroom, one bath with fireplace and a perfect getaway. (Please, no smoking or pets. We love our pets and have several ourselves, but there are others who have allergies to pets).

In the town of Glen Haven, there is a small general store open in the summer only that has delicious cinnamon rolls, sandwiches, ice cream and a few grocery items.

We also have another larger property which is new VRBO #688204

Your hosts Ken and Marsha Hobert will meet you and show you to their wonderful hideaway.

About Marsha & Ken Hobert

We have lived in Glen Haven since 1981 and wouldn't live anywhere else. Glen Haven is a small, private community, outside of Estes Park.It is so beautiful and peaceful with the sound of the river at our doorstep. There are easy trails into the forest following the sound of the river along the way.

Marsha & Ken Hobert purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Marsha & Ken Hobert chose Front Range Colorado

We fell in love with the log cabin and bought it within a few hours of it being put on the market. Having a home up the road, we wanted to have another place to rent out when family and friends were not visiting.

What makes this cabin unique

The best thing about the Glen is the sound of the river and the wonderful, private community. We look forward to personally showing you to the cabin for your relaxing visit. While this cabin can accommodate 4 people, our other property #688204 is more suited for 4 people as it is larger, has a washer/dryer/dishwasher, and large TV with Netflix.

Can't wait to come back!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary by spending a long weekend at this fanatic cabin in the woods. It had everything we needed and more. The Hobart's personally showed us to the cabin and gave us a quick little intro. The cabin was very clean, very private and very peaceful. It's just what we needed. The cabin is located in a more secluded area than Estes Park, but was a quick (and beautiful) drive into the city. We were able to explore Rocky Mountain National Park, Roosevelt Forest, and downtown EP. We were sad to leave, but are hoping to bring our kiddos back this summer!

Great place to get away from a big city

  • 4 of 5

We were thrilled with the cabin. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck among the trees. It is about a 15 minute drive into town or RMNP, and we did it twice a day. We really didn't use the kitchen much except for breakfast. There is not a lot of counter space, so it would be difficult to make big meals. I didn't want to do dishes on vacation either, so we got lunch and dinner out. Just be prepared for a small bedroom and bathroom. The living room is a nice size though. There are plenty of windows to open to let in the fresh air. The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows were not. They are tired and flat. If you are driving here, you might want to bring your own pillows. I was not sure why there was a big plastic container in the bathroom. It took up a lot of space. Maybe it was for dirty towels.

Though there are other cabins nearby, we did not see many people. It was extremely quiet and peaceful during our whole stay. We wanted a place where we could hang out inside or outside, and this fit the bill. The wifi is very good, and at night we watched Netflix or Amazon Prime on our iPad.

No place is perfect, but for the money we were very pleased with our choice of this cabin. There were just the two of us, so the smallness was not an issue.

Owners are very nice and friendly. Cabin is cozy and quaint.

  • 2 of 5

Upon arrival my husband was having difficulty breathing from the altitude. There were more steps leading up to cabin than expected. Toilet had issues flushing. Even after letting it fill all the way up. Didnt expect to see a woman on a horse go by the bedroom window. We were only able to stay a few hours due to breathing issues from the altitude but ken and Marsha very hospitable. She even emailed to check on spouse. Just wish I had taken out insurance offered to get back some of the $600 we were out. Kinda steep $600 for about 3 hours.

Awesome and Quite

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a place to get away for a few days for some peace and quite. This cabin did not disappoint our plans. The cabin was very clean and in a nice quite location. There were board games and some movies provided that was a nice touch. Overall this was a great place to stay and see some of the nicest part of the country and we would recommend this cabin to anybody looking for a nice quite place to stay.

Cozy and well appointed, but not particularly private

  • 4 of 5

This cabin is advertised as a private cabin located on 3 acres of property and surrounded by the Roosevelt National Forest. In the photos, no other cabins are visible. Based on the description, I was not expecting to have next-door neighbors. However, there are cabins directly on both sides of this property. My children were disappointed by the lack of seclusion.

Having said that, the cabin itself is extremely nice. It is very cozy, well appointed, and clean. I appreciated all of the extra supplies hidden away in various drawers. Additionally, Ken and Marsha were very kind and accommodating. I enjoyed meeting them and I felt that they genuinely cared about our visit.
