About Carol Gray
Hello! My husband, Jeff, and his brothers own this cottage which has been handed down from one generation to the next for decades. Their grandfather bought the property many years ago. My husband, Jeff, and I and our 12 year old son love spending time on Tripp Lake. It's so relaxing and peaceful. We heard the loons calling almost every night when we visited this summer.
Carol Gray purchased this Cottage in 1950
Why Carol Gray chose Poland
We love this property because the lake is right out the window, the beach and the raft are great for swimming and it's so nice to use the paddle boat and canoe. It's also a great location. We love hiking at the network of trails at Poland Springs, visiting the 24-hour LLBean store in Freeport, going to Portland for shopping or exploring, going to the Maine Wildlife Park down the road. In the right season, the blueberry picking is terrific right outside the door!
What makes this Cottage unique
This is a cozy cottage and we have some families or couples who enjoy returning, creating their own family tradition with a special vacation spot. The lake is serene and beautiful with wildlife and a lovely cove to explore. It's wonderful place for children of any age and a wonderful place for a romantic getaway for couples. If you casinos, the Oxford one is about 15 minutes away. We happily accept most pets and there is no pet fee.

Perfect, peaceful summer getaway
My husband and I took our two toddlers here for the week and we all had an amazing time. The lake was so peaceful and we all enjoyed using the canoe and paddleboat to explore. We saw LOTS of fish, loons, and even a bald eagle. The kids had plenty of room to run and play, and especially enjoyed picking the plentiful blueberries. There was plenty of outdoor seating and the hammock was a real plus. The cabin was very clean and cute, the perfect size for us. The owners made sure it was stocked with anything we might need (soap, dishes, towels, etc). We'll be back!
I hadn't been to Maine since I was maybe 9 years old and had always wanted the full experience whenever it was I returned. This place was definitely the best I could have hoped for. I flew up to Boston and met up with a friend and then we made the journey north. It was the perfect size for the two of us. There was lots of helpful info on the area just inside. Watching the sunset from the beach isn't something I could soon forget. Tripp lake is beautiful and we spent many hours canoeing around, swimming or laying on the floating dock. I had never before been in water so clean and refreshing. Definitely check out the little zoo they have up here and make a day trip out to Portland.
I plan on returning ASAP
Definitely give this place a try!
Tripp Lake is a wonderful place to explore. You can meander by canoe in the twisting stream that flows out of the lake or take a stroll along the road lined with quaint homes and gardens next to the lake. There are several local restaurants in the area and great antiquing. The county fairs are not far and Maine craft fairs are a treat. You can also drive an hour to Bowdoin College, the L.L.Bean Store (open 24 hours), the Maine Wildlife Park (great picnicking, barbecue facilities, nature walks, and wildlife like bears, moose, mountain lion, etc.) This area is full of local color. You'll avoid the tourist traps and be able to enjoy the natural beauty and Maine's down-to-earth culture.
